I watched that run up yesterday, and realized that the quantity "sold" was probably less than 100 boxes. The whole thing could easily have been just one guy getting excited and throwing say $20,000 or so at those boxes. That alone would clear out all of the orders at the original price. It's a blip, not a trend.

Agreed about regular treatments, but extended art foil/serialized Leo Da Vinci only being in a collector booster that supposedly has a small print run means we are in a very different situation than Aftermath. There are going to be some desirable cards that are still expensive to pull given CBB pricing right now.

There is serialized cards in the collectors box so I’d prey those boxes don’t get reprinted. But good advice on no fomo.

I am definitely not on the FOMO train. I am, however, excited for Bloom Burrow. I think that set will get the most money out of me. Great content! Thanks for sharing.

I preordered 4 collectors and a bunch of bundles from a store I had store credit with that didn’t have much else to buy. Being in Canada kinda have to buy early and rarely get good deals like you guys in the USA. It was a couple more collectors than I would have originally mainly in case of it spiking. I when with bundles as the price per pack vs a full box was like $0.25 more but figure the lands and box should be able to make up the difference.

Man, I missed the sealed sale but glad to hear it went well! $400 is crazy... I felt uneasy paying $380 for one MH3 box pre-release, but I like to support my LGS now and then and I've nearly made my money back on singles with a lot left in inventory. Still, that's way more than i'd like to pay for any new release. But that was MH3... I know a lot of people like Assassin's Creed and these Universes Beyond boxes have been doing well overall but I'm skipping release on this one too.
I think these are getting a little extra hype due to MH3's reception, and I think a lot of players will be choosing between the two sets which could hurt the price on these in the short term since MH3 is such a good set.

Volume back to a good level on this one.

I remember that video you mentioned it clearly warned viewers not to pay that premium. Even with evidence people want to believe what they want to believe. There is a silver lining to this FOMO action and that is that the rush to regain the gambling capital violently crushes single prices on these limited sets. There were banger deals on the opening weekends of Fallout and Doctor Who and I'd be willing to bet Assassins' Creed will be no different.

Bought a Fallout collector box and sold it recently. Made enough money back that getting a box of Creed is just free, so got a creed box before they started shooting up. I'm winning, and it's not because I thought oh well let's just skip it lol.
If it's got a low allocation and serialized cards I think at this point it's a safe buy at it's any price that hasn't been marked up yet because it will get marked up, the worst that can happen is Doctor who where it just stays even which honestly ain't a bad thing. Once it's marked up though I agree stay away from it unless your rich but that's why you always buy way before that.

I'ma yolo fomo this. Low risk high reward. And this is a new age of mtg. There is no comp to what happened except for fallout. Serialized cards have changed the game.

You want a comparison for Assassin's Creed collector's boxes, you can look at how Doctor Who turned out. Fallout is an exception and expecting every licensed set to perform similarly is asinine. Serialized cards have also been in virtually every collector's product WotC and Hasbro have put out recently and they've had very little impact.
