    Until they can both reduce the cost of the Roca by about 90% and can get it to work with every game on the platform, it's unlikely I will ever get a Roca.

    I wrote essentially this exact "tin foil' theory on the pro seller Facebook page back when this all started, so it's interesting that you've been getting the sorters pushed on you a bit more. A lot of sellers weren't given any time at all - they were just kicked immediately when that first email went out. But I doubt any direct sellers with sorters were kicked immediately, and I think that idea was backed up in one of Mason's recent videos where he said TCGplayer gave him 30 days to get the numbers closer to 98%. So yeah, I definitely think the sorters are playing a role in whether or not shops get kicked. But is that the only reason they implemented the 98% threshold? No, I don't think so.

      I was surprised at how quickly things escalated from a notice that 98% was going to become the new standard in the future; to people who were in active contact with their TCGplayer liaisons and improving their metrics getting kicked.

      @@FinalTrade Yeah, that was a bit shocking. I can understand it if the sellers had major discrepancy issues... say, 10%+, but I think giving them a chance with at least 1 RI would've been better for PR. Personally my rate was at 2.5% and I didn't get kicked or get a warning.

    I think if they got the roca to do conditioning it would make the whole not matching what tcgplayer consider x condition a problem

    • @FinalTrade
      @FinalTrade  Před 29 dny

      A lot of conditioning involves getting light to reflect off of the card so you can see scratches and scuffing. For that they'll need a robot that can hold the card and tilt it around while capturing images, then it needs to be able to turn the card over and do the other side. Training it on a vast library of human-rated card images would allow it to then assign grades on its own.
      Like so many things the tech is possible and it's mostly an integration problem, but I'm not expecting it any sooner than 3-4 years from now.

    A couple times you have mentioned seller fees of up to 30% from what I read 10.25% is the highest marketplace fee that I see on tcg. I must be missing something! Could you elaborate? Thanks for the info!

      Direct transactions under $2 have a 50% fee, but it's well worth it imo for the sales volume and the reduction in shipping charges you have to pay to be able to ship it all off to TCGplayer in a single order

      Ahh gotcha. Thanks for the info!

    I am not in Direct but have gotten those Roka mails. Not up to 5-6 though

    Double ding for a shipping the wrong card is absurd

    • @FinalTrade
      @FinalTrade  Před 29 dny

      It gets worse: If I ship the wrong card, I now lack that card in my inventory and I can get dinged again if someone attempts to buy it later.

    It looks like TCGPlayer ratcheting up the seller fees little by little while providing less and less in terms of actual benefit to you as a seller, just like every other tech service that wants to turn you into a recurring revenue source.
