I'm a retired commercial painter of 37 years. I started out before HVLP was a thing and was a Pioneer user of the Binke HVLP MACH II. Lots of hobby stuff including airplanes, race boats and a few Classic car restorations. The jump from conventional to HVLP was monumental but today's HVLP is just a whole different level. You do an excellent job on your presentation as well as the craftmanship you display. You are an excellent instructor. Great job, I'm in.
I appreciate it man! I really try to explain everything as good as I can and as understandable as possible for diy guys. I know that’s a majority of my audience so I try to help as much as I can!
People don’t realize the level of skill needed to paint car. Nice work!
😂😂
I've used this gun on a total of about 30 cars full paint jobs nd a bunch of repaired parts fenders, hoods etc...and I haven't had a problem yet. You do definitely need a compressor that will give this continuous air. And it definitely helps to have a good spray shop. The only thing I would say is that I can spray faster with my other guns (complete jobs faster) but this thing definitely does a great job. If an apprentice it's great just practice with it nd get it dialed in nd your good. Not sure how long it will last but so far so good especially if you clean it like you would your more expensive guns nd not throw It around..
You sure did a great job on this, makes me want to get my car painted.💯
You just took me to school. I learned more in this one video with more information than 4 years of all the videos I have watched. Thanks for this. You should teach class'.
I appreciate that man. Find me on socials too bro. Anything I can do to help leave me a comment 🍻
Hi Joel, this is the third review of this gun I've seen today (Trigger man and Garage Noise) and they both say the same as you that it's a great gun for the price, I can see from your video that it lays the base and clear really nice with a good OEM finish on the clearcoat, I'm not sure if they will be available here in the UK but I have bought spray guns from the USA before so that is an option👌
Thanks for the detailed review Joel🙏👍John UK
Very good stuff! Results look promising, thanks for the in-depth review!
Just picked one of these up, gonna DIY a paint job on a Lincoln Town Car. Wish me luck! 🤞🏻
well how'd it go?
i’ve been spraying for over 30 years i can do this with any gun, it’s all in the mixing of paint and the correct reducer
Better to start with a sharp knife vs a butter knife. This thing is great for its price.
Makes it look easy! Beautiful work- thanks for posting!
Like you said, the gun is definitely nice and lays down a smooth coat, but for the guys at home in not so good of a booth (exhaust mainly) and mediocre CFM, you might want to spring for something a little milder. The overspray from it seems a bit much, which is no problem for a pro booth. That's a major problem at home, though. The LPH, a LVLP, or some similarly priced lower overspray gun might be better. No knocks on the BW, it's a helluva gun, just thought it would be a little more home user-friendly considering their marketing.
Great job, enjoyed this video!
I’ve seen others on CZcams but looking hat you did … beautiful I just purchased one I love tried 2 times so far love
Wow! Very nice! Paint Booth is Amazing! I hope it goes on sale for the 139.00! Love the paint job!😁👍
Here I go again.... Off to Harbor Freight to buy this gun...
So glad that this one won't break the bank...
Awesome review olie! Definitely gotta check this gun out!
I have the first black widow it works pretty good. Now I’m gonna go buy one of these new ones. The job came out beautiful keep up the great work. RESPECT!!!
I been using this BW for a few weeks. For the money its really good. Has a decent fan. Not the fastest gun but fast enough. It doesnt compare to top tier guns. It is comparable to guns like the LPH/W400 and Tekna. The built quality is good. I dont see much going wrong with it if you take care of it
Just watched the video and thought it was really well done and you paint job looks awesome 🎉
Thank you Olie!
Great review Joel, Thanks for posting the vid demo. 👍
Glad I saw this will be getting one tomorrow! My Finex is just running like CRAP and cant get a good fan from it now Plus it started leaking !
Thanks for taking your time and putting in the effort to review this for us peasants.
dropped tack cloth on the floor picked it up and used it huh, but it still turned out good. A few nibs no wonder
Good eye
@@dannymann8649 yes 68 I still paint
Great job bud! Enjoyed this video and subscribed! Keep it up!
Thanks for the sub!
Nice job , looks amazing 👍👍
Nice job. Hopefully painting my truck in the summer. This will be perfect on a budget for me.
Nice lay down. Thank you.
Amazing how much work goes into to the prep work to turn around to take a 1 min or two to lay out paint maybe longer it’s like cooking turkey dinner takes so long for the prep and the foods gone in 15 mins .
Thank you for sharing your knowledge bro 👍👍 always successful
Good review 👍 keep up the good work
Enjoyed your video. I was curious which paint cup system you’ve used in this video. I’m trying to find an economic paint cup system for the PPS 2.0. Any recommendation would be appreciated
Lets GO! They are pretty good guns! Great out come as well!
Very well done my friend
Great video!!
I’m not even a painter put always dreamed about painting my Dodge Ram why just because I love my truck it’s been good or I been good too it.👍🇺🇸
Nice content!
The original worked great for clear so i know thats a beast
Amazing review and as others have stated it is a great beginner gun. I just wish I knew your secret to the HF coupons =)
I’m not a painter but I want to paint my motorcycle that I built so I’m not going to buy a $600 dollar but I think I will pick on of those black harbor freight guns up , thanks for the video
Always like your videos Ollie
Have you ever used the devilviss GTI pro lite knock off on ebay that sells for around $100. If yes what are your thoughts?
Hey does the Static gun really work that well and where could I purchase one at? Also really informative video. Thank you
Please do an vid on the Sagola 4600 1.2 spray gun, spraying clearcoat.
Looks good. Is there anything in that top candy to control though? Jw. Alot of reds in Envirobase I spray don't have any sparkle lol. Alot of reds have candy in the clear now
awesome job.👍👍👍👍👍
Guess it would be all right for painting a couple of cars. But how many times can you take it apart to clean it . Before it goes to sh--
Hi Joel,Maybe could you test a spray gun from new brand PORPHIS? I saw it on Ins but I would like to know more about the performance. Thanks!
Got here from the Harbor freight website. What is the price range that you charge for a paint job like this?
What's the best to use to clean solvent based paints.
Where did you get this static free spray gun cuz it sounds like it's brand air at the same time
Awesome!
Did you use the same tip size for all materials?
what camera do you record with? Looks super sharp
GoPro hero 12 black for anything pov.
Tks they was good 😊
Another very good painter.
Great. Video ❤
What is the paint code and color name of the paint what Chrysler was it used on ?
hey olie! im wondering if you could give me some information and knowledge around 4:14. i see you are using a tac rag and this lazer thing before you spray. im wondering what that is and what brand tac rags those are? my body guy does not like to use tac rags because he said some brands leave a coating and mess with the future layers.
I use waffle weave crystal tack and the sikkens brand tac rags. Biggest thing is do not pretty down on the panels with them. And the lazer is just the light from my anti static gun. Basically removes static charge from panels to help keep dust that’s floating around being attracted to the parts. 🍻
@@olie_olie_paintz thanks for that info! cant go wrong with that anti static gun!
I honestly cant see any difference in a meaty oaker gun like this than a 7/8/900 dollar iwata. I truly think its in alot of painters heads that more expensive is better . Like people with name brand clothes or shoes etc.
How does it compare to the old hte black widow ?
So both guns are the same just with two different needles?
Is it a waterborne trait for the pearl coat to look blue when wet? I've never sprayed water. But never noticed it in solvent
Yes it is. Also when you spray straight back colors it lays down greenish....water paint is WAY different
hello and thank you for the videos I watch you all the time could you help me out with that adapter number sata RPS cup I just bought that gun I seen the results you have got on it
What size is the silver cup adapter?
What static gun was that?
Very Nice
Great reviews, may i ask what kind of static gun u are using? Thanks!
The light in the early bit of the video says Ionstar, so you may search that.
I use the ionstar. Available from pro spot welding. No batteries to charge and works fantastic!
beautiful work. I am in awe.
Skills make the gun look good under a professional
You should always wipe from top to the bottom with tack cloth! 😐
Hi new to your u tube channel, nice Demonstration have u spayed any filler primer with it yet.
It’s not really suited for that. The black widow 1.7 is going to be the best for primer and I’ve used that setup and do use it every single day. Works fantastic!
4:48 was that negative charged air?
Spraying sealer isnt hard ? Dont know sometimes you can soray it rough and thats pretty much screws yo entire paintjob. Bit then again i use cheap uk brands. But still and sealer is hard to sand if you do screw it up
Beautiful Finish :):)
Your form... So fluid, graceful, impeccable if I dare say so... I use an airless for high end cabinets/trim/etc ... I have dreams that I move like that, only to realize I'm as graceful as a 5 years rotting zombie on a brisk winters night😮💨 we all gotta have goals right? 😅
Hi mate can you send me the link for spray gun i am from Australia
Is your control coat sprayed with a half trigger pull? I’m spraying debeer 900 which is the same as the 9k and learning the process. I’ve been having better luck spraying at a lower psi for coverage/control
Yep. You can either half trigger or wind the fluid needle in. I drop from 24 to around 16-18 psi on my control coats.
I should have bought one when they were on sale for $140🤦
Killer Video Olie Nice run down of the Gun also…
Wow,nice
Thanks🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏿👑👍🏿💯
Is a 20 gallon compressor good enough with the new black widow paint gun your using. Trying to paint a standard cab S10
Hell no.
What adaptor is that?
i buy the 20 bucks one, when it starts fkn up, i through it out and go get another one they're so cheap.
need more schooling . could have avoiding the runs. tack coat. cover coat gloss or wet coat.
Do they make the Pps adapter for these by chance ?
Yessir. They come with the pps 1.0 style adapter in the box! I’d have to look up the 2.0 # but it’s the same as the last one!
What air regulator are you using
Walcom digital!
What color and paint brand is that?
He says at the beginning of the video
Get it bro 👍👍🤓🫡
What is a controlled coat?
A control coat or a drop coat is sprayed further away. Use it when shooting metallics to even out the appearance across the entire panel. It comes in a little drier, and gives the Metallics less time to flow out. The result is the Metallics look consistent.
What did you shoot this video with yo ?
GoPro 12!
@@olie_olie_paintz looks good , great video as always
Me gusta...ver y good....needed one...para mexico..y like....saludos
*drops tack rag. "Oh gosh!" Lol
Put a high-end name on it, charge $950 for it, and people won't eat for a month to buy it 😄.
Don't tell anyone what you sprayed it with and they'll swear you sprayed with a phaser or 4600
I know a lot of mofos that paint prv as a effect color. Then say they painted a 3 stage red 😂. No hate its just funny. Gotta get them flags
If you’re blending you can get away with it. This system it’s a no go lol
Looks like it sprays better than iwata kiwami 4
Bullshit. P P G. Devilbliss JG model. If something works well, why fuk with it. Believe me, that gun is not going to last 20 years and put out a few thousand paint jobs, now is it. No. I consider those as throw away guns. Use them to spray some primers and paint when your painting the old Farmall or manure spreader 😮😮
Top of the line paint guns still wouldn't make a poor skilled person a good painter.
I have painted with lots of guns. I still have a old Banks model 7.
Even have a 30 dollar POS.
They all work.
Yes they all work. But I’ll disagree that they do not work the same. A 30 dollar pos will use far more paint and take a hell of a lot more skill to get decent results. A good quality tool WILL make it easier on people especially while learning. I think it’s worth skipping the crap guns for something decent so you can remove the gun being a problem as a factor.
I just finished watching a guy who is a professional painter and use this same gun with a 60 gallon air compressor and says it's the perfect beginner and apprentice gun. So he says the opposite that you did.
It’s perfect to start with. Not great on a small compressor. It uses 10.6 cfm which you need at a bare minimum 60 gal. Even with that you’ll starve for air and it’ll drop on big projects. 80 gal large 220v compressors can keep up no problem. Issue is most diy don’t have that big of a compressor. So LVLP guns are better options for those.
@@olie_olie_paintz he painted a hole car with it with a 60 gallon compressor and loved it. It looked just like what you got from it.
Isn’t that the same thing he said in this video?
I think scott missed something in the video. Oli says at the beginning of the video it is absolutely the best spray gun for the apprentice @@soulfuzz368
You like being a prick just for the fun of it, don't you. 😂
Wow !
Painting sure has changed from the old days of enamel.
