    They might not be tutorials, but they do explain things simply and easily.
    Memo to self: need to fly the Viggen more.

      @@LOtarie Sat do say that no, I haven't. Haven't flown in DCS for damn near a year now. Should get back to it but...eh

    It’s such a weird ass steam punk jet. Here first boot up DOS and then at the command prompt enter this string of code… it’s like launching original doom from an early 90s windows.

      The Viggen basic design was made 1960, it flew first time 1967. The CK (data system) is from that time to. The Memory was initially 8 KB and the weight of the CK was 51.5 kilo

      At the time, it was among, if not THE, most advanced jets in the world. The way the HUD was integrating the mission e t c, no one else had anything like it.

    I honestly prefer this than a straight up tutorial, it's more fun just watching you learn new things and putting it in action, great vid :)

    BTW you could stay in NAV - opening the security thing on the stick (that master arm thing) will make it change to some kind of ANF as well. Main difference from the top of my head: In NAV, it automatically switches to the next waypoint, in ANF it won't.

    Been a long time since I flew the Viggen. I remember enjoying the TILS system which is really fun to understand and use.

    now turn on the autopilot while at 20 feet above the ground, and use trim hat to turn while the throttle is at afterburner stage 1-3, you dont need to use the stick to fly the viggen, only the trim....most of the time you can fly entire missions in burner stage 1, you can also bring yourself to the runway using this and cues that appear on the radar and hud while in the landing modes

      AB stage 1 above 20k feet works well all the time... enjoy the conversion units😅

    Bk90s are great fun, when you fly high and fast they can be dropped from some 20km away from a target

    • @racingtheweb
      @racingtheweb Před 2 lety +2

      Is the Viggen supposed to fly high? I don't think so, but I'm asking, maybe I'm missing something.

    • @Cor_Netto
      @Cor_Netto Před 2 lety +2

      @@racingtheweb probably not, but it's a game so you can do what you want

    • @CakePrincessCelestia
      @CakePrincessCelestia Před 2 lety +3

      I remember trying that with success regarding the range when the thing was new - but they never dropped their subs that far out simply plunging into the ground beyond the targets, so I kept dropping them at around 7km

    • @aaronwhite1786
      @aaronwhite1786 Před 2 lety +4

      @@racingtheweb The version we have can, but it really excels down low. It can really keep a high speed down low, and since you're relatively restricted in terms of countermeasures (unless you use a wing pylon for the countermeasure pod) you're much safer down low and at high speed. The radar also helps you safely navigate down low, even in bad weather.
      So while you can go high, the Viggen does best when you're carving along through canyons just above the tree tops, before suddenly popping up to ripple a bunch of weapons, and duck back behind cover before SAM operators can even figure out where you are.

    • @TLTeo
      @TLTeo Před 2 lety +3

      @@racingtheweb Depends on what you mean by "supposed to". It has perfectly decent mid/high altitude performance. The main drawback (other than the lack of CM/ECM Aaron mentioned) is that the navigation system gets more drift, because the TERNAV relies on the radar altitude for taking automatic fixes to correct drift.

    I'd suggest you keep your nav selector in BER until you turn to the runway for take off, that way your INS won't degrade while you're programming the computer etc.
