How often will people question the time period before that happened or question whether there were any blacks in Canada prior to the black American's migrating to Canada (by choice or not). There were slavery in what later would become Canada. The British abolished slavery before Canadian Confederation, as a result Canada as a country technically didn't have slavery. Canada also didn't have plantations, so the need for slaves didn't really exist. Most were used as servants. Both Blacks and Aboriginals were used as slaves. More Aboriginals than Blacks.
I would really like to understand: why do you call yourselves African? The documents that were shown in this video say either American or colored! You can be American and look African.

Canada did have slavery, but it ended slavery before USA did.
