  • Hey everyone! Thank you all for being so patient with my uploads lately! Life has been crazy with the holidays but I'm so happy to be bringing you this video on this DIY blanket ladder! I think this would make such a perfect gift and is great for those with expensive taste, but is budget friendly! I estimate my build at about $20 with all of the materials, and you could even use cheaper pieces of lumber. Make sure to ask the hardware store where you purchase your wood for to cut it to size for you if you don't have any sort of saws at home, but feel free to cut them yourself if you have access to a saw of some kind.
Here's everything you'll need to assemble this ladder:
    - (2) 1x3" pine boards @ 8ft long (cut to 83" in length, optional 15 degree cut on one end)
    - (1) 1x2" pine board @ 8ft long (cut 18" pieces from this piece, will give you 5 rungs in case you mess up on one!)
    - Some way to attach your rungs to your side pieces. I used a Kreg Pocket Hole Jig that I will list below (affiliate link, but not sponsored) and 1 and 1/4" pocket hole screws, but this is not necessary! Feel free to use 1.5" screws from the outside of the side pieces to screw in your rungs, and either fill the holes with wood glue or not for a more rustic look. You can also use a brad nailer if you have access to one.

    - Wood glue for an extra strong joint!
    - A finish of your choice. I used a dark walnut colored danish oil for this project, as danish oil provides color and a protective finish for the wood. You could also use regular wood stain in the color of your choice, and then a few coats of polyurethane to protect it. Or you could go for paint! Totally whatever you choose on this part.
