- Carlos was supposed to go on a solo cross country today, however cloud coverage caused us to cancel. Instead of wasting a day of flying, Carlos was up for seeing how it is flying on an IFR flight plan. This was the perfect opportunity to show him what it was like.
Enjoy the flight! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I am an IFR student and this information is priceless. Please continue to post IFR videos. Thank you so much Lew!!!
Juan Carlos That's fantastic! Glad I could help you in some way! I'll work on getting more IFR videos
*doing my first VOR approach tomorrow, great video!!* :)
Yeah the turbulence in IMC really makes everything worse. Recently I have logged 2 hours under the hood and it's actually not that hard but also not that easy, it's a weird sensation when you think your aircraft is turning and you have to fight it and reference the attitude indicator. Actually I have caught myself believing the illusions a couple of times, it is certainly a very high workload situation.
Nice job taking your relaxed but professional piloting style into your instruction. You can even see how your student starts to emulate it. 👍🏻
Midlife Flight Thank you.. Not everyone is a fan of my relaxed approach, but I seem to get through to my students this way
I would imagine not. It will put some people off. Their loss.
What is there not to love about this? An instructor being PROACTIVE! Love it Lew, took a potential negative and still found a way for him to fly and get some hours! Your student did an excellent job at the controls and it looked as if there was a sheer sense of enjoyment, not just turbulence. This is proper instructing by someone who cares about flying, not just a paycheck, that's just an added benefit. Excellent work again mate, it's really inspiring me as I am about to begin instrument, then commercial and chi looks like a ton of fun. Keep up the great work!
Joey Meyers Wow mate thank you for your kind words! Really makes me feel good about what I'm doing.. Hopefully I can get more vids out soon
That's great to hear! It's fun to see not only the students progressing, but are you also progressing as well. I'm about to start training on a '74 Cherokee Cruiseliner, with AC unit and all!
I earned my instrument rating 24 years ago. Unfortunately during my PVT training, I never received actual. I know it's not part of the PVT syllabus, but at least an intro should be explored.
I believe all primary students, whether or not they plan to continue through IFR training, should at least be exposed to actual IFR weather ops and IFR ATC communications. During post-solo phase, with some experience under the belt, would be a good time.
Primacy and Intensity are powerful! Great vid!
Windtee 100% agree!
Thank you Lewis. Love the music and your style. Most helpful.
Toffy B Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Loved this video. I haven't started training yet, but I've a bit of an idea of how VOR navigation works. Seeing it in practice in this video was hugely educational. Thanks for your videos! 👍👍
Great flying guys and especially on instruments very interesting and learning more cheers
Working on my cfi airplane and instrument now. I've enjoyed watching your progress from commercial through cfi! Awesome vids keep it up!
Jeremy Mitchell Thanks man! Good luck with your CFI!
That will training will benefit him greatly in the future. I'm enjoying the videos, keep it up! Maybe one day you can take a x-c to KJKA and say hello.
I wish I'd had this experience during my PPL. Great work.
The Flying Reporter Me too.. Flying under the hood doesn't do it justice
Brilliant teacher and student 👏👏👏
The Gerald Butler of CFIs with the accent! Hahah love the footage! Subscribed
Aaron Nelan haha niiiice! Welcome my friend!
I’m a PPL student at 20 hrs, we hit more VOR & IFR training tmrw morning & this was so helpful! Thank you :)
Veni Vidi Amavi not a problem! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Lewis, another nice production. Looking forward to getting up your way soon. I am based at KHWO, May take a ride over to Sun & Fun this year,
VoteJaySchwartz Nice Jay! I'm not sure that I'll be going to Sun N Fun this year, but if I do it would be great to meet you
Love this
Another subscriber here. Great video. Please continue posting those approaches; good contributorship to we aspirants of the rating n to general aviation in general for that matter. As a high school tacher I commend ur teaching style.
Tomas Nunez Thanks Tomas and welcome to the channel! Really glad you enjoy the way I teach
That's awesome you do this. The weather hear in San Antonio has been shit lately but too timid to ask my instructor. I am afraid since it's not in a PPL PTS the school wont allow it.
JediOfTheRepublic I'm sure your instructor would be happy to take you up in IFR conditions. It's not part of the ACS but it's a brilliant experience for student pilots.
Make more videos this is awesome!
Alex Harvey thank you! I'll do what I can!
I saw eagle doing touch n goes at kgif. Thats my home base.
Does this plane just have 1 nav/com and 1 VOR? Localizer/glideslope?
It’s a vor/dme approach ?
Geez, I hate the term "in the box"....
I’ve been at air traffic controller for over 20 years, it’s never bothered me when pilots say this.
Blah blah blah
