      Lol its not hard to be vegan. Also keep in mind Idaho has the fastest growing market (listed in forbes) so its not that rural anymore, in fact its gotten crazy growth in the past 5/10 years. Celebrities are even moving there, the most recent have been kim Kardashian, reece witherspoon, and mark Walberg, etc. Idaho has become a hotspot. Idk if ya'll been living under a rock but Idaho has changed lol there are vegan restraunts, she can also get vegan food choices delivered to her door. Not that hard to find, goodluck on your journey

    • @NevaehSouza
      @NevaehSouza  Před 8 měsíci

      no actually. Idaho is a big state....there are very rural areas and i live in one. Definetly not an option having food delivered 😂That quite litterally Doesnt exist where i am. The nearest restruant is over 30 miles away. For vegan food it's over 60 miles. @bobbyboi8820

      Gluten is hard on everyone, but some are much more vulnerable on the sensitivity/allergy continuum. We'd all be better off without it.

    A nutritionist told me that many people that think they’re gluten intolerant actually aren’t, what their body is reacting to is all the preservatives & additives in food, chemicals sprayed on food, and modified ingredients. Not saying you aren’t allergic to gluten, just something you may want to look into. 👍🏻❤️

    • @toolkit71
      @toolkit71 Před 8 měsíci +1

      My Dr said the same thing, he said I might be gluten intolerant because I can eat pizza from some locations but not others, if something has lots of glutton in it, that makes me sick so I still eat Pizza but from a couple places that I have found to have low levels of glutton in their dough....but it is not glutton free dough just normal pizza dough but hand made.

      Same! I was getting HORRIBLE stomach pains after eating gluten and then I switched to eating preservative free, natural foods. My stomach pains have gone away and I’m back to eating gluten.

    • @minnamae25
      @minnamae25 Před 8 měsíci +3

      This is probably true. I know people that can't eat conventional bread, but can eat sourdough. So they buy my sourdough bread and goodies. The conventional yeast breaks down the gluten to a sugar and the sourdough breaks down the gluten to a protein.
      This western diet is doing so much harm on our guts. I'm a big time meat eater BUT we only eat meat we raise or hunt. Garden veggies and in season fruit only.

    • @minnamae25
      @minnamae25 Před 8 měsíci

      @@toolkit71you would LOVE my sourdough pizza then. ❤❤❤
      Regular pizza crust makes my tummy turn, I can eat it, but it just doesn't settle well in my gut. I only eat it if I have no other options. I try to keep my sourdough active so I can really quick whip up some pizza dough. The sauce plays a roll too. If it has preservatives, that could also cause some belly problems.

      Been carnivore for 2 years - never felt better in my life. Tried vegan, vegetarian, etc. Stomach issues completely gone - never knew this was possible. I learned lettuce (out of many things) was poisoning me... This was after eating 3 big salads a week for dinner for years.

    • @stanrobertson
      @stanrobertson Před 8 měsíci +6

      I was raised as a vegetarian, and had a lot of immune issues. When I became an adult, I ate meat most days, and at one point was downing green smoothees and developed painful kidney stones, but did not make the association with the oxalates in spinach, kale, almonds, etc. Three years ago I eliminated all plant food and ate the carnivore way, and most issues are gone and the remaining are almost gone already. I have never felt better and there is no going back!
      Oh, and it is not tough - it is liberating!

      I think that parents should not force their kids to be vegetarian or vegan...kids need meat protein for ton of reasons...every person can choose (if they are not forced by medical iasues) when they are adults, but making child eat something because parent believes something or makes a choice...ech quite selfish thing

    Grains such as rice, corn, flax, millet, sorghum, quinoa, oats, and buckwheat are gluten-free and should be included in a vegan diet. So here is what my family (we are not vegan) eat as a staple and it way easy to cook... Lentils and rice... So, you take 1 cup lentils and add it to water. Boil for 20 minutes. Be sure it has enough water to cook cuz nothing worse than burnt lentils. Add more cold water and add the same amount of rice as you do lentils. Bring it back to a boil and cook it with the lentils for another 20 minutes. Make sure you keep water in it... !! Drizzle oil, course being Sicilian, we use Olive Oil, but not necessary... add salt to taste. There is not one of my 22 grandchildren that have not grown up on this. Some like it hot, some like it cold. Perfect meal and a complete protein.

    When I roast a small chicken I put a baked potato with it in the pan. 400 degrees for 1.5 hours. The potato gets one or two aluminum nails, one from each end if it is a large potato. They help transfer the heat to the inside. I poke the potato all around with a fork, then I wrap it in aluminum foil, I add about two tablespoons of water inside the foil wrap, then put some real butter on top. The water gently steams the spud and the butter melts all around it. Try this method and see if you like it.

    Best way to bake a potato is to use a bbq skewer length ways through it, don't wrap it in foil, it's aluminum for a start (not good for the planet!) That way it cooks through and you also get a delicious crunchy jacket, very healthy if it's organic.

    i ate vegan for a few years and tried raw vegan for a bit, even started living a more vegan lifestyle-getting rid of clothes, purses, items that were made with animals. it is definitely difficult to do when you are also not trying to buy processed foods since many of the foods that make meals taste normal are all processed...processed patties, processed cheese, processed processed processed. when not using the processed products it got tired quickly of eating the same thing...veggies veggies and more veggies, and smoothies all the time. There are restaurants in different places that make out of this world vegan foods (such as Christopher's Kitchen in Florida). Kuddos to you for even trying. If you ever try it again, beans and vegetables become your best friends.

    We all have to follow where our hearts and minds lead us. No one should be forced into anything. Hats off to you for your week's work. I went vegetarian at 19 - moved to Germany (the land of MEAT!!!!!) and went vegan some years later (which I will always remain). For many years, it was a challenge, as there were few things available ready-made. Luckily, I have always been a cook - so had no problem coming up with all sorts of ideas about foods - especially tofu (my favorite is smoked tofu, which I always dry-fry - makes it firmer). And, I ALWAYS season plain tofu well (and learned the art of freezing it beforehand to get right of that "like nose refuse" mouth feel ;-D). Nowadays - there are all sorts of gluten-free, GMO-free and vegan offerings available where I live - although my body is rather intolerant of garlic, which MANY of said ready-made foods, and vegan recipes include. Also, vegan offerings quite often contain gluten here. Thus, I have created my own recipes and ways of doing things. The good thing where I live - a great many of the ready-made are affordable, for the most part. HOWEVER, I visited the States in 2021 - and was quite shocked at all the restaurants that had nothing to offer. Foodstores there, on the other hand, often had better options (I was in S. Washington State and N. Oregon) - but for a price.

Food for vegans has come a long way. I am not vegan but have had the need to make some vegan dishes for someone. Vegan and gluten free is hard. Easier if you can have gluten.

    Try it, with pineapple, dried tomatoes, & olives. Yeah, sounds weird to most folks, But, I guarantee you'll love it! 👍

      I hear ya, Nevaeh.
      I grew up on a beef farm, but stopped eating beef in 1980 after seeing a video of Sting flying in a helicopter above a vast deforested area of the Amazon Rainforest, aka 'the lungs of the world'. Decided that I didn't want to participate in that mindless destruction of natural wildlife for the sake of McD's burgers.
      Now, I avoid chicken, because of inhumane big corp battery farming. Bacon is about the only pork I eat.
      That only leaves seafood, which is contaminated by micropolymers from human garbage. Farmed salmon live in their own excrement, are lice infested, sprayed with antibiotics, and are unable to spawn in their natural rivers of birth.
      22 years ago, a gifted pack of cigarettes triggered rheumatoid arthritis. Then all brands caused flareups of severe joint pain. Wasn't into steroids, which didn't stop the pain, anyway.
      Point being, 5 joint replacements later, I'm now mostly pain free and as functional as a 72 year old can expect, by avoiding processed foods, eating GMO (frankenfood) free and organic veggies & fish.
      Always wanted to build an aquaponic greenhouse to become fully self sufficient. Of course, your family is already there. But IMHO, it would be a great project and learning exercise for the whole family.
      🤗

    I give you credit for giving this a try. I love veggies, but I don't have the willpower to give up that much as a forever life change. I at least need my fish & poultry, and though we very seldomly eat red meat, I do enjoy a good steak once and a while too. 😏❤

    You’re video had my family in stitches around the dinner table tonight, Neveah! We can SO relate to trying alternative diets. My family has several health challenges (Autism, Post Lyme syndrome, undiagnosed autoimmune disease, possibly CIRS), and we’ve tried probably every weird diet out there over the years just trying to manage symptoms and restore good health. For the past 3 years we’ve followed the AIP diet, which has helped the most.
    And yes, trying to buy store-bought vegan that’s also gluten free is nearly impossible! I have to pretty much make everything from scratch for my gang. 😩 It’s definitely an act of love. My whole family eats whatever the most restricted family member eats, both because it’s socially isolating to not be able to join in at meal time with everyone around you, and because I’m not cooking more than one meal from scratch!
    A tip if you ever try to make a good non-dairy coffee: use full-fat canned coconut milk, vanilla, maple syrup and ice (all to taste). It makes a delicious iced coffee! You can serve it hot too, I just prefer it cold. My oldest son is hyper sensitive to caffeine, so we have rooibos tea every night with supper, with coconut cream and maple syrup. It’s caffeine free and high in antioxidants, but I swear it’s addictive! My son says if he was stranded on a desert island that’s the one food staple he couldn’t do without! Maybe we’ll have to mail you some to try. 😊 One nice thing about trying different diets is, you usually come away with a few new favorite meal ideas! Best wishes Neveah on future food ventures!

    It is good to be mindful of what you eat, and it is also good to pay attention to what your body tells you about what you have eaten. Trying things outside of your comfort zone facilitated growth in your field of experiences. Ultimately, make your own informed decisions, what feels right for you.

    Who cares what people demand? Ignore them & live your life doing what makes you happy.
    These people are miserable so they want to make everyone else just as miserable as they are.
    I don’t live to please others. Life’s difficult enough as it is.
    You’re doing great sweet girl!

    I feel your pain. I have to be gluten and milk free. It's challenging. I wouldn't try the vegan diet, so you're a better girl than me.
    I tried to make a pumpkin pie with coconut milk for Thanksgiving. It wasn't great. I poured lots of spices into the 2nd filling and it turned out rather pleasant.
    Good for you for experimenting. It takes a village of people to feed us, including Amy.

    Was. The bun gluten free on the burger? I couldn’t do vegan. Bad enough I have to be very low carb because of diabetes but no meat or dairy and no carbs would mean bowls of leafy greens. Proud of you for making it. Love ❤️

    As a raw vegan, I don’t eat the synthetic made dairy or meat alternatives. I don’t eat premade stuff, it’s usually full of things that aren’t great for you. I have been vegan for 20 years. I traveled abroad for five years in third world countries and had no problem eating fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Those are more accessible than fake vegan alternatives, and it’s what we’re actually supposed to eat… the thing about vegan is you can do it well, and not well. It’s about having skills or developing skills in the kitchen and creating your own versions of your favorite dishes that’s actually satisfying to eat. It’s all about spices and how you prepare it. I know you tried, and did it from a highly newbie state, so it’s not like you did it “wrong”, you just don’t know what you don’t know. But kudos to your effort. ✨
