Just remember, that you matter, your situation may feel hopeless -- it won't last forever! You deserve good things and sometimes you gotta get out of your comfort zone and make friends at work or join group events, or even be outside more to find fun things to do.

I'm depressed, I've never let my house get fucked like this. It was a mess alright, but it was like 2-3 weeks of not cleaning at all and I was like "okay, it's time to stop being a pussy and clean this shit, this is more important then me feeling bad about myself"
Depressions is hard, but we make it even harder on ourselves because we don't want to help ourselves.
If you are depressed then gather up some balls and do some shit, it will help a lot.
Believe me, I know what depression is, feeling of hopelessnes, having 0 motivation for important things and shit. But you just kinda toughen up for at least 1 day and you will be able to do anything. After that it's just discipline.

I grew up in a severely messy and unhealthy room from ages 4/5-16-17. I didn’t realize it wasn’t normal, but I genuinely wasn’t able to see half of my walls most times due to how high the filth went. (What makes it worse in my eyes, is a lot of the filth was clothing and childhood toys. I had a lot of toys so I never really considered it neglect, but looking back on it I’d say it was. I was severely depressed around age 10 and it only got worse, but prior to that it had only been worsening over time. I had cat shit in between layers of my clothing, cat piss on my toys, mold on my toys, mold in a corner of my room because the pipes leaked, and it got to the point I was hallucinating due to the mold and fumes. This sad little bright pink room, where I had to tip toe to crawl into my equally as messy room. I stopped trying to get to my dresser because nothing was clean anyways, I didn’t know that laundry was supposed to be a regular thing. I do remember my mom helped me a few times and each time, I’d have maybe 5 by 5 feet to move around, and I would swear to myself that I would keep it clean (which meant I wouldn’t touch as much as possible, resulting in my depression worsening due to only sleeping all the time).
I moved into my current room and I’m so glad I did. It’s smaller than my previous room, and I still don’t have a dresser (everything is basically in a pile against one wall, idk what’s clean and what’s not but that’s ok), I am now only a room away from the laundry machine so I can do my own laundry when necessary. My bed is /clean/. I’m not made fun of for smelling bad. I have space to move, I have a DESK! And a chair!!! It’s incredible, genuinely. I find myself sitting on the floor playing with the stuffed animals that survived the mold. They are treated like gold and kept on a shelf above my bed.
I still struggle with depression, ptsd from other things as well as the trauma of having a childhood like that.
And that’s why I genuinely am so fucking proud of this dude, and anyone who has been able to get past that battle, because you are fighting so much more than just one- you are in a war. To be able to feel like you have your own space is so truly wonderful.
My space isn’t always clean but I’m medicated now so whenever I have the energy I do atleast one thing (take out trash, move dishes to kitchen etc), and it helps immensely.
Depression is fucking hard, especially when you are so alone

Charlie is 100% right. Having a clean room will do wonders for your mental state. It's not going to cure depression or anything, but just taking that one step feels so much better than one would think. Same with drinking enough water and exercising.
Now, obviously, the depression is the root cause for why somebody would neglect doing these things for themself, but it does create a feedback loop where you feel bad, the room goes awry, which makes you feel bad, which makes you let the room get worse... etc etc etc.
Happy to see the dude is feeling better about himself and his situation, here's hoping he keeps it up.

I just have to rant. My problem with these disgusting rooms/houses is the fact that it takes no time and energy to put that shit immediately after you eat in the giant trash bag. Instead of stacking it on top of each other like those pizzas or throwing it everywhere, you can just throw in the trash bag and after your room is so full you cant move just put it in front of the house for the garbage collectors. You can also put all the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and built all the energy necessary to take them out once a weak, which takes around 5-10 minutes. Like if you have the energy to play wow and stream all day why not do all the things I said. The conclusion is, people like this are either too stupid to realize that (I dont believe thats even possible) or they like the pig sty look. Only those two options. Also, why do they sometimes talk like they are proud of t?

@@sync2597 yeah, I do think a lot of them know this. I knew that going through all the clutter I had collected (though it was NOTHING like this. No soda bottles or anything that is trash. Just things I didn’t need) would make me feel so much better, but I created a huge mental block in my mind over getting it done. I have anxiety disorder, and sometimes I can know without a doubt in my mind what the *right* thing to do is, but I just can’t do it. If my friend hadn’t been so nice as to help me, I don’t know when I would have gotten around to tackling it myself.
Of course, I don’t think everyone with a room like this has anxiety disorder. Just that your mind can do so many crazy things that convince you that it’s impossible to do something that you logically know you can do if you try hard enough.

Another thing that helped me a lot during recovery from depression was to set small goals - ”If it takes x seconds to do, just pick/clean it up”. Thinking like that made chores like putting dirty clothes in the laundry basket instead of on the floor not that difficult. Starting at a very small scale, one step at a time, instead of being overwhelmed from all the shit that needed to be cleaned.
It’s insane how much of a struggle things like that can be when you’re depressed - personal hygiene, keeping a clean home, being motivated, have interests, you name it. IMPOSSIBLE to explain to someone who’s never been in that place.

I said this on your previous messy streamer room videos, but I can empathize as someone with mental health struggles. Granted, I never let my personal space get like this as my fear of mold and pests outweighed my lack of motivation to clean. But I would still have laundry pile up, miscellany strewn everywhere, etc.
Basically, when you’re depressed, mess creates a feedback loop: you can’t bring yourself to clean, it piles up, you feel worse because it’s piled up, you can’t bring yourself to clean, you feel worse, and so on. It’s really hard to break out of that cycle. I had to become a drill sergeant for myself and set obnoxious, impossible-to-ignore alarms daily and clean a little bit each time until I got the mess down to a tolerable level. There was also a social anxiety aspect of it: I was getting a roommate, and I didn’t want her dealing with this mess or me.
Anyway, I hope this person’s in a better place mentally now. Again, taking that first step is the hardest.

It's nice to see these videos and all of these comments bringing awareness to how this can happen in the first place. Weirdly enough, I haven't seen a lot of stories shared on when someone is chronically disabled (such as Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Chronic Fatigue, etc) and therefore literally struggle to clean due to how much harder it is to do compared to the typical able-bodied person without mental health issues. Heck, even compared to a mentally struggling but still a generally "able-bodied" person. Combine chronically disabled with mental health issues and the struggle is REAL. After binging these videos it makes me relieved that I've mainly dealt with clutter in my life and not filth. It's honestly motivating me to try and finish my massive room overhaul where I've been going through every single thing I own and either donating/selling/recycling/trashing it or putting it where it needs to be. All while trying to clean up places, because even if you don't introduce food or general grime to an area dust sure can pile up in places you don't expect. ...That and if your air ducts desperately need to be professionally cleaned after existing for decades because it immediately puts a layer of dust on your furnitire the next day. 👀 ... I wish I was joking. 😖 And for the longest time I wondered why my allergies have slowly been getting worse and why it would magically improve when I'm not at home. 💀

After hearing "Rank 14 Grind" it all made sense. The requirements to grind to PvP Rank 14 in WoW Classic were insane. You would need to do 14+ Hours of nonstop battlegrounds each day everyday for about a month or more. Possibly longer hours needed if competition was fierce because only the top X number of people in the faction would be given Rank 14.
The people that willingly did that grind were not in a good headspace, either before, and definitely not after.

That or when they finish the bottle they just put the caps there and the bottled in the other area so that there isn't caps all over the floor, I don't know.
