    I'm doing my HGV class 2 at the moment on a government Apprenticeship basis. These videos are great to watch and my stumbling block so far has been Mod 1a, the multiple choice theory. 84 out of 100 twice when 85 is needed. My Mod 2 I didn't even revise much. Just 1 failed mock test, but I passed with 47. I advise against this, but so far, I'm really enjoying the process of learning and just waiting on my practical stuff now. I have watched a few of your videos and they are very informative and fun as well. I have driven all types of vehicles since I was 17 and I had a class 2 licence entitlement. I was a mechanic with buses then trucks and eventually did driving for a living. When this cpc stuff came into being I was driving a minibus for NHS and wasn’t involved with driving HGVs. at that point. My problem was that no one gave me any information whatsoever with regards to my licence and this new cpc test we had to take. Eventually I phoned DVLA and asked them what the situation was regarding me getting the cpc, I was told that I had to get it within 5years from when it started or I couldn’t work driving for a living. If I didn’t get it within that 5 years I would lose my driving entitlement for class 2. I still had no information about it and eventually they took my entitlement off my licence and I wasn’t happy but from what I had heard from others was that i5 would cost me £700 or so and a week off work so obviously there was no way I could afford this and hadn’t a clue how to go about getting it, so the licence was gone. I am really annoyed about it as I feel there was no enough information out there at the time to help drivers like myself understand this better,also when I called DVLA they were not very helpful at all and only told me that I had to get it or I would not be entitled to drive. I did enjoy my time driving during which I collected zero points and had an accident free employment. Aaargh !! I still get so upset about it all. Anyway sorry I went on a fair bit but I just wanted to say and at least let others know they were not the only drivers who were left to find out information for themselves and that the whole system for HGV drivers is a total ba*** up. Have to say though thanks to you guys folk will have somewhere they can find useful and practical information when it’s needed, keep up the good work, thank you 😁

    Not sure the pay is where it needs to be yet, should be £1k for a 40hr week but, these videos sure help. Used to be a pro HGV driver could raise a 2-3 kiddies family including a pay a mortgage with a partner parenting at home, what went wrong! Never mind Brexit, seems all trades got wrecked by paper pushing becoming regarded as requiring degree! Best thing to do is keep reading your highway code, staying on top of all the basic rules like Lane, discipline and indications. So often people come on course, without any basic knowledge and the last time they done the training was when they passed their car test. 👍👍👍👍 if you got any problems or questions, please give us a call. I'm sure you'll be fine, lots of time for revision until then! We would recommend doing all theories, including CPC before you do your practical course. So book the CPC too! You don't want to pass the driving test, be excited to get going and then have to go back to the theory books and CPC practical.

      The medical normally will stay on record with the DVLA, so yes you can contact them and they may add the category C. There are some modules, for examples manual handling that will convert to a category C from D. I hope this helps. If you have any questions please give us a call.

    Just busy doing my class 1 licence and just seen your video mentioning not everyone needs a cpc, I'm currently doin my module 2 which states if driving isn't your main job you don't need one hence why you mentioned scaffolders,.I understand they transport their own goods of carriage so they are normally exempt but can I just as where would a grab wagon driver stand in the same situation, ie I dig out my own earth, supply my own stone and lay drive ways/ block paving yes it's for customers but it's also known as my business use related to that business!! So what I'm asking is grab drivers under the same grey area as scaffolders as it's within their own business use as some have told me it comes under the restricted operators licence as it's knows as use with in its own operating business ase that's what I've been reading??
    Any help would be great guys and thanks in advance 👍

      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před 9 měsíci

      This can be a tricky one, Liam. Basically the customer has already bought the stone and you are removing there soil. Therefore the goods belong to them and it's not yours. In this case you would need a CPC. This is exactly the same as a grab or aggregate waste driver. I will grey area. The best thing to do is contact DVLA and have a chat with them or ping them an email just to get the correct clarification. Or better than that just get the CPC and at least you know you're covered all bases 😁😁 I hope this helps Liam, sorry we can't be more clear, but as you know the DVLA rules are not black and white 👍👍👍

      So currently there are many exemptions for CPC, one of which is the Scaffolding. However, be careful with the weights of your vehicle if you're being told the vehicle is a 3.5 ton then this would more likely be a transit. However if it's a C1 with a maximum authorise mass of 7.5 ton.
      Because if you're saying it's a 3.5 ton, then it can't weigh 7 ton.

      That's a very good question Edmund thank you. Yes you would need to pass a category D or D1 before the DVSA issues the card, you can of course pass the test whether that be through the module 2 and module 4 or doing the continuation training. We hope this helps good luck if you have any questions please give us a call.👍👍👍👍

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před 2 lety

      When you book the module 2 test on the DVSA site they will list a module 2 or a module 2 conversion. Book the module two is a conversion, once this is past you can then do your module 4 practical checks.

    Safe driving ..now they say there scrapping reversing. And coupling and un coupling.. on the test...2 most important things..if u have a new driver going too tescos etc and he smashes the loading bay off or turning too quick taking out other trucks...who they gonna blame

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před 2 lety

      Sorry now it's not gonna be scrapped altogether it will just be assessed by the Training body and not the DVSA. You will still need to complete the reversing exercise and the uncouple recoupled to the test standard. 👍👍

    I want to pass my lorry license so i can drive a skip lorry (I believe the skip lorry i want to drive is an 18Tonne one)
    Im unsure which category it is I’m alleged its c1+e
    I passed my driving licence (Category B) on the 14 aug 2009
    Iv researched online and says apply for D2 & D4 forms
    get a doctor to sign my d4 form and fill in d2 form send them both off
    Apply for my taco
    After that the gov.uk site says
    Next stage is
    4 parts CpC
    Part 1 theory
    Part 2 case studys
    Part 3 driving abilities
    Part 4 practical demonstration
    Also says on the gov.uk site
    If you passed your initial driving licence before 10 sep 2009 you are entitled to acquired rights which means you would only have to sit 2 out of the 4 parts of the cpc test
    Which in my case as i passed before 10 sep 2009
    I would only have to do
    Part 2
    Part 4
    After completing them stages whats next to do ?
    Im getting mixed answers from lorry drivers saying
    Cpc is only a part of the lorry licence some people re saying then you nees to pass the LGV practical etc etc
    Can you help me please

      @@martinhaad5702 first of all you will need to apply for the provisional entitlement for D1. If you haven't already got it. Then you can complete your theory test module 1, multiple choice and hazard perception module 2, case study for CPC. Then you would would need to complete your reversing test and driving test. Finally, the module 4 CPC. 👍
