ZX10R Moore Mafia ECU Flash Did Not Go As Planned

- If you have a 2021 to 2024 Kawasaki ZX10R an ECU flash is a must. We decided to go with an ECU flash from Moore Mafia. There is so much power being left on the table without a proper tune. In this video, I go over some things you need to know after getting your motorcycle ECU flashed and go over how the bike feels with the changes that were made. We were unable to get dyno numbers, but let us know if that is something you would want to see in the future.
In case you don't know Moore Mafia is run by Chris Moore who builds and tracks the fastest bike in the U.S. He currently holds the record for 1/4 mile under 6 seconds! That is insane and with that kind of record, I wanted to see what kind of tune we would get out of the box for a mail-in ECU flash.
In regards to the issues we had with the ECU flash it was not a major tune issue. The power and how the bike felt under acceleration was incredible. The Moore Mafia Tune for the Kawasaki ZX10R packed a big punch! It was a night and day difference over stock. One of the biggest changes I have ever experienced with a flash tune. It was more due to how all the electronics work together on the bike. The traditional fuel cut option changes on decel that most people would do in the past does not always work with modern bikes due to the auto-blippers adding fuel when blipping the throttle. Thus you end up getting a double shot of fuel which tends to make the bike jumpy which is not what ya want at warp speeds lol. As mentioned in the video though the Moore Mafia crew was really quick with a re-flash, and it looks like that option for a tune is no longer available so you shouldn't experience these issues in the future.

Rode my Busa to Chris, this past May, from Western Arkansas, had it dyno tuned on pump gas and MR12. Rode the the wheels off the thing on the surrounding roads, in several states and am happy as I can be with what he did. He visited with me and explained what/why he was doing adjustments on old Rusty. It was worth the time and money, to have this done, plus, the ride was fantastic, Tail of the Dragon and Back of the Dragon are great roads. All in all, I'm very happy with the outcome. Love my Busa.

Dyno tuning > mail in tunes and MM knows Suzuki better than any other platform he tunes. He has that Busa dialed in perfectly I'll bet.
Chris flashed my 2023 Z900 SE a few weeks ago. You can definitely feel the difference! I didn’t receive a check engine light at first startup and the sound of my full SC titanium exhaust is crazy 😜.
Got my ecu flashed on my 22 zx14R last December by Chris. Worth every penny. Completely different bike afterwards.
Too funny. Don't have a bike anymore but still watch videos and stumbled on yours. at the 10 min mark of the vid I was like damn that looks familiar! Yep, riding around the Rio traffic circles. Lived in Mont. Vill for 20 yrs and just moved to VA 2 weeks ago! Love man! Miss my Kaw but perhaps in another year or so I'll get another.
I’d say for not having the bike on his dyno, one adjustment to the tune is pretty good! Moore Mafia flashed mine and couldn’t be happier! And no lights whatsoever.

I made my ECU flash with Chris Moore I can tell you all that he is the best my bike feels real different more powerful and more smooth I recommend him to make ECU flash
Had my ECU flashed by Chris on my 23 ZX6R with a DNA air filter and M4 slip on. I was surprised after doing the initial start up instructions, that I didn't get a check engine light. Rode it for a day and it was still good.
That is surprising lol how do you like the tune? I'm dying to do a new gen 636 they are my favs.

Great video. Sorry I don't understand exactly but... What option is better for smoother Auto-blip function, Disable Decel fuel cut(checked) or Decel fuel cut(enabled)?

This video is older now, but I will say this: When driving slower the auto blip is always harsh before and after flashing. If you were going a lot faster, you wouldn’t notice it because the RPMs are higher. But, nice video.
I have the m4 titanium exhaust on my 21 zx10r , it sounds great. Once you flash these things they really wake up.

Glad I could help! The new gen ZX10 is sweet I highly recommend it. You do need to flash it though. It felt like the most restricted 1000 on the market right now

No the bike was pretty much all stock performance wise apart from the M4 Exhaust
I sent my ecu off to Chris yesterday for a Sprint P08F185 and full M4 exhaust tune on engine ice coolant.

The bad mpg after a tune is not true it’s just how you ride and potentially the bike. I have an 2023 mt10 full exhaust and an ecu flash from vcyclenut with normally easy riding I get over 40mpg. Now when riding aggressively I get about 35mpg and the crossplane 4 cylinder is not known for its mpg.
8:45, what do you mean it was because the fuel cut change, on the website theres no option regarding fuel cut besides pops and bangs, how do i make sure not to have the same problem?
Pretty sure I mentioned it at the end but by the time I got the video up he already changed his website options and no longer offers that change. However, if you are going with another tuner that does I would not get it.
The quickshifters on the 6 and 10 work differently because the 6 is not a throttle by wire bike like the 10 is. And you're seeing less mpg because when you do a mail in tune, they add fuel and timing, and it's blind tuning. When you dyno tune it, to make more power, in some areas of the powerband they will add or pull fuel, but leaner makes more power, running rich makes less power 🙃
Was looking for the test hits to test the power…no 1st or 2nd gear hard pulls? Maybe I missed it but I only seen high gear roll ons

Question I have a 2021 zx10r & my ecu was flashed by Chris as well,did you ever see a ESD light on ur dash? & if so what caused it?
No never had any warning lights after the flash apart from the initial check engine light in the video which is very common. Once everything is clear you should have no issues.
Had my ninja 650 flashed by moore mafia, nothing compared to a 1000cc bike but its been awesome

maybe its a kawi thing or probly its a woolich thing. i have 0 problems with the brentune flash on my 2020 R1M. thats a nice bike though, sounds good with the M4 pipe xD
So decel fuel cut is fixed on the tune or this feature needs to be left out in order for auto blip to work right?
His tune is good for the ZX10R. The second time around was perfect. If there are other tuners that offer a decel fuel cut option I wouldn't do it. It can cause issues with the auto blip.

I can’t get a zx10r test ride anywhere in eastern pa. I just test rode an Aprilia rsv4, and I fit great. I’d rather buy the zx10, but it seems smaller. I’m 6 2”. Have you ridden both? I’m trying to ask someone who knows these bike. Thoughts?

Who did you get the flash done by? I mentioned later in the video we sent it back and what supposedly causes the issue is having a fuel cut option changed. Normally on decel your bike cuts fuel but when the ECU is tuned most people opt to have fuel on on decel. Helps smooth out throttle transitions but with new gen bikes with quick shifters can cause issues with the auto blip.
@@akcycles I had it done at a local tuning shop here in Ft lauderdale Florida. The guy didn't know and I told him to turn off decel cut off. Now the bike is much better. Thanks to you brother 👍🫡
Auto blip is still blipping the throttle. The bike is going to jump a little if you don't pull the clutch. You got powpow now🎉.
I did mention it in the video, but isn't the point of the auto blipper to not have to use the clutch. I think it kind of ruins the fun and purpose of the auto blipper
12 hp with the baffle out is pretty cap. I see velocity stacks giving less and those are considered to give big gains

As a daily 23' ZX6R rider I have to dispute your claims about their "butter smooth" quick shift function at low RPM. At least on my bike. Yours sounds great though man.

That is the biggest lie, a good tune will always increase fuel economy riding conditions permitted.... #2 this is not a "Tune" it's a flash that everyone else has... for the 400 dollars should've found a local dyno and had the bike mapped for your bike... but great honest review.... no bike should ever have CELs after a tune!!! Hey bro. That bike looks pretty cool; however, I’ve been considering a Hayabusa, potential with eventual ecu flash and Brock’s exhaust from you guys (I’m in NC.) Already have a couple bikes; touring and sport cruiser; considering GS 1300 to compliment but love these sport bikes; specifically the busa with low to medium end torque. Waddya think.. am kinda older so - maybe you’re gonna think “go for the GS”, but … that zx10r and Gen 3 Busa … suhWEET!!
Haha the Hayabusa is a monster! The new gen looks super sleek too but that's all you're getting is a cool look over the older ones. I've ridden one and mehh same as the old ones lol GS1300 looks interesting, but it's not going to have any top end. They won't let it outshine the XR1000 which is what I would suggest. I love the XR best sport tourer out there.
Remove the baffle or you are down 8-10HP on the M4 verified on dyno. Few more in the midrange. I have the M4 Street Slayer, with the baffle out, this pipe and the M4 GP make nice gains.

We all have our preference but Chris Moore is a very good tuner,i'm not saying he'll fix everything but there must have been something wrong that isnt being solved that he didnt notice.

Chris is good if u got zuk. If the bike was zx10r then go to 2 wheel Dyno work. Cuz he use zx10 to race his bike. His previous bike were s1k. Im sure he has more experience with the zx10 and s1k compared to moore. Moore is good at gsxr1000
Diesels actually get more mpg then that Jt depends how u drive or ride and what u got done and how maintained ur engine is

Chris did 2k worth of work to my bike… needless to say I have a coolant line loose and they want me to bring it back to tha shop. Already had my bike for 1.5months. Got it flashed. All he did was add pop and bangs to it. Waste of my money
Geeeeeesh!! 5 1/2 months!! An ECU flash costs around $300 from him now. What else did you get done for $1700, and why did it take that long. I live in CT and was going to either have my bike shipped there, or trailer it there to get some work done.

@@blackonepacthere’s plenty of better local tuners in the New England area. Look into Rob’s dyno. He’s legit and can tune directly to the ECU. No mail order flash tune with him.

Having the 21 zx10 with the moormafia tune its way better to ride it with the first tune. You learn to ride it.

Dang after having a flash done? I will say if you did a bunch of other mods at the same time had the air box or throttle bodies out etc....be sure everything is seated right and vacuum lines are attached. Just a quick double check. I see that over looked a lot and can cause a stutter when you pull away from a dead stop.

Sorry if I was not clear. We did opt for a decel fuel cut change; however, that does cause issues with the ZX10. We sent it back and had that part of the tune changed back to factory. When I was editing the video it looks like Moore Mafia does not offer that change anymore.
ZX s aren't smooth normally but the BMW s are super smooth! Sounds great though.
