  • Recently we've been trying to finalise all of the "legal stuff" here in Bangkok, after all that's what we moved here for, and we are finally coming to the end of it! We took a day off to unwind from the stress it has been causing us and spent the day at the condo pool, so enjoy our chat, rant and how well the kids are doing with their swimming. But that's not all, we have something very exciting coming up so stay tuned for future videos!

    One piece of advice, don't just make 2 copies of your visa paperwork, make 3, then keep 1 copy as a template for next year's application. You'll still need to update certain items, but it will save you many hours and trips to immigration.....I've been there and done that, 1st extension took 7 trips, last extension took just 2.

    Phuket is for me the best, it's a bit crowded with tourists during high season and it's also overpriced. It has really good vibe. It's an island, but accessable with vehicles. There's a lot to do, good nice beaches and good water quality.

    It makes more sense to translate the children's UK birth certificates into Thai and get a legal stamp probably via a solicitor. btw teach the girls to float and do back stroke, and that if they panic they can swim on their backs.
    I think you should head south to the islands next :)

    Until someone has gone through the Thai visa process it’s hard for people to understand. We did one year extension for marriage this week ourselves. I’m glad I used an agent. Hopefully you’ll have an easier time with one too. We just left Bangkok for Kaset Wasai. I Enjoy your videos and send you and your family my best wishes. 🙏🙏

    I suggest that you find yourselves a good Thai lawyer, who can correctly/legally handle your immigration paperwork, esp. for the kids, rather than use a visa agent, who may play in the gray areas of the law. The shortcuts may come back to bite you, or the kids, later down the line.
    And, since you undoubtedly have bigger plans (ex. buy land, start a business, etc) in Thailand, over the long haul, I suspect that you will end up needing/wanting a lawyer at some point anyways. Best to find someone competent, and whom you can trust, as early on as possible.
    Cheers! :)

    Are you on a house book anywhere,or could you br added to your uncle's house book?....If not maybe you will need a long term lease ....I think you are right in taking the agency route...They should know how to grease the wheels

  • @sallylee1005
    @sallylee1005 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Regarding the visa, the stumbling block might be that the kid's don't have Thai birth certificates. You should need both kids' birth certificates, marriage certificate, kor ror 2 (additional marriage certificate from local office), plus the usual ID and house reg for husband and kids. The problem is likely to be the immigration office is not familiar with what is needed if you don't have Thai marriage cert. and/or childrens' (Thai) birth certificates. I did it for years, never had a problem and never used an agent, although I have got Thai citizenship now.

    It's good to see you guys having time out with the kids & and their swimming coming along great. Mallory & Kaya are so cute Indeed. Seems nobody at immigration doesn't sing off the same hymn sheet and messing you about and the cost, time, effort 😢. Stress is a killer, Natt. Farm rural work too hard not enough to sustain a living standard. Village charming, but it seems easy gentle pace. Wigan haha 😂. I use to go to Wigan Casino club which use to be the Empress club as I was into Northern soul. Glad you have nearly got things sorted with legal side best to employ somebody in the end saves the headaches. Kids love the water they will be swimming soon never to young to learn. Yeah I met Adam Peatty at Uttoxeter races top Staffordshire guy. I moved from Wolves I retired at 56 and moved to 🇪🇸 . Best thing I ever did. I love the uk 🇬🇧 but things have changed for the worse. I've still got multiple business's there still. I wish you guys all the luck for the future and you have two outstanding children. Take care and look forward to your news in the future. 🩷👍🩷

    Luckily Thailand changing soon the visa rules, but I am afraid it's not enough compared to neighboring countries. Thailand loves too much paperwork and makes all kinds of hurdles. That's why many use visa agents which is understandable. So if you leave Bangkok, do not go back to the farm…interesting to see your next chapter! 🙏

    • @kevinp8108

      @supatracross5172 - I am a Thai-American who has lived in the US for 54 years since the age of 2. Unfortunately, I let my Thai passport and Thai ID card expire for over 10 years. You cannot renew your Thai passport without a valid Thai ID card and you cannot renew your Thai ID card at a Thai consulate if it is expired. In 2023, I went to Thailand to renew both documents, and it was a complete nightmare! I kept getting the run-around at every district office where I went to renew my ID card. Each district office kept telling me something different! I was pushed to three different offices! Enough was enough and fortunately, I had a Thai girlfriend who happened to work for the Thai government. She and I went to see some her friends who worked at a district office and she got it done for me in one hour! After renewing the Thai ID card, getting a new passport was a piece of cake! Your biggest hurdle is getting a Thai ID because you must be registered at an address in Thailand and you must prove your Thai birth. Good luck!

      😭 I'm original from
      Amphoe, Chiang Klang, Nan, Thailand 🇹🇭
      My Thai ID card also expired, too. 😭
      I will probably go through all mummo!, jummbo!,etc.. the same thing happened to NativeFarang, and you everyone else,
      I left Thailand since 1988, and I got Canadian citizens a long time ago. My last went back to Thailand
      2006 I was planning to be there for 6 months
      But I had a horrible time with sickness, food poison, and hot weather. Long Story short. Last me only 24 days. I have to come back to Canada for good. I have lived at Arlington Washington State for 15 years now. I will be in both of these countries until I die.
      Thank you for sharing your experiences. Kha, 😊

    Sorry to hear about the visa problem and the stress it’s causing. I guess you’re not used to the Thai way yet. The immigration officers are just waiting to hear you ask “how much will it cost me to sort this out?” They’re wanting some money, simple as that. Use an agency now though but be careful and barter with them. As they’ll want their share too.

  • @The_Blueyonder
    @The_Blueyonder Před 2 měsíci +1

    Get a lawyer or an agent. As you correctly say, different immigration, different days, different rules. Remember, immigration officers have discretion and can decide not to give without reason. Many people are not aware of this. Seems they just don't want to issue.
    Best of luck, it's a sad example of Thai bureaucracy.

    The red tape in thailand is no joke, my g/f has been back to thailand with her 23 year old son (came to England 7 years old) trying to get him a ID card which you'd think would be easy as he was born in Bangkok but nope not the case, they've been up and down the country to different offices with the DNA test result plus a stack of paperwork and i'm not sure what the latest is but I do know if that was in the UK it would have been a piece of cake oh and another hurdle is they all don't come cheap.
