Here’s how to not backflash start off with Max drag and slowly loosen it learning how to control your fingers pressure to not backflash it
That's how I learned!
you mean max suspension? the drag is the star
@@alexpelico4649you mean max brake?
Set your brakes to max (if your new to them) then loosen or tighten your tension knob till your bait barely moves or doesnt move at all. Once you get used to it you can loosen the brakes
@@FullNelson007you mean max Payne?
This is what “NOT” to do
DONT DO THIS!😂😂
I do this all the time, never had a problem getting out a backlash. You must be a noob
@@alvarez321if you untangle a backlash like shown in this video, it will create memory on Mono or Fluoro lines and can cause terrible wind knots with Braid line
The best way to untangle a backlash is leaving the spool open and slowly, calmly pull your line out. When the line begins to feel stiff, pull the loops in your spool and make sure there are no knots. Repeat these two until you pull the whole backlash plus 5 yards of line out. Tighten drag to max and put your thumb on the line and reel in slow
@@trowwzers5057 nah, I just threw my baitcaster in the trash and only use my conventional reels. Problem permanently solved.
@@trowwzers5057best way to do it fr

NOPE! Been fishing since i was 9 im now 55. If you can pull this off regularly you should buy lottery tickets!
No doubt.
honestly it works. with braided line not nearly as well but it’s still doable
After he let it backlash like that I thought he was just gonna throw it. Lmao.
Me too lol
I was hoping he was gonna throw it too lol
Same!!
I said the same Ong I thought it was gon say use a open face 😂
Same thing I thought lmaooooo
What I do is I pull the line out of the eye of the reel until I hit a loop on the bail that prevents me from pulling more of the line out of the reel, I pull at the loop or loops on the bail that are holding the line back until I can pull the line out again and continue this process until the birds nest is completely gone. This can take time depending on how bad the birds nest is, and from my experience this usually works 90% of the time.
Lock the release then turn the drag super low and pull through the eyelet and 90% of the time the loops will pull themselves out.
@@jdawg4510 ill have to try this
Same here. Often times if you pull to fast you’ll make a knot and not be able to get it out.
This
exactly what i do.
Fish that’s about to strike on the fall, “I’m bout to ruin this man’s whole career”
LMAO
Call me old fashioned… but I hate baitcasters. I have one. A good one. And I hate it. I’ve practiced and practiced and these still happen. You know what never fails? The old flip up. It’s just… perfect.
Use what works for you! Baiters are easy for sum but not for all. Stick to what u know💪🏾 I love baitcasters, God bless you
@@Lee2wavvyy Right on brother. Point is, we all like slammin’ those big ones. So cast on, friend.
@@Lee2wavvyy Even if a baitcaster is easy for someone, it can never be as easy as a spinner
It’s about the line tensioner and what gear your brake is on. Doing what this guy does in this video no wonder people hate them lol
I'm right there with you bro
I have after many backlashes over the years and through ao many thousands of casts...Thumb control is key.
Man you really lined the whole pole
I just pull the line out and pick the loops, works great haha
Yea, that works, but then you have to cut your rig off :/
@@OKFishing nah I’ve never had to do that
hold the spool with your thumb and pull the line with opposite hand, works like a charm
I just rip on the line as hard as I can and it comes out
@@jumpoutmike I do the same exact thing, works every time
This is what not too do
i knew this trick before this video and he is right, this actually does work very well!
@F1SHH it might be the right way but no one uses that truck am I right?
@@theoneandonly1take i actually do use it
I use it with braid but with mono & flouro it doesn't always work for nasty nests
@@MrMd5555 he’s doing it with mono bro
That depends on what line you have on it.
It works with mono but not braid
What not to do-
1. Use a bait caster
What to do-
1. don't use a bait caster
2. Use a spinning reel
3. Use a zebco
4. Use a cane pole
5. Use a cast net
Hey just a little tip! Even though this is coming from a 13 year old. Trust me! When casting always keep you thumb on the spool and slowly apply more pressure therefore guiding the line! Have a good one!
Yup, that would be how to avoid a backlash. In the video I did it on purpose to show you how to fix one. You have a good one too!
well i just pull the line out and when I can’t pull (it got stuck) I just pull the line that is blocking the main line from pulling out and I just pulled the main line out again (it’s probably faster than this) :)
I hit a bush and got a big ass back lash I want to die rn
If you need to have youre thumb on it then it contradicts the whole point of having the bait castor just get a spin reel n bomb lures
@@layylowwluu Incorrect by slowly adding more and more pressure you still get the initial bomb of a cast but your not adding so much pressure that it just slows it down its more of a guiding action
This is why bass fisherman has 10 poles in the boat
The correct title: what not to do when u backlash
That’s what Bill Dance does and teaches people.
After backlash...throw baitcaster as far into the lake as possible...rod and reel. Purchase appropriately sized spinning reel for use when casting. Conventional reels are for downlining and trolling.
Spinning reel=No problem to solve
Nothing against spinning reels, but they have no skill in them. Baitcasters have many different brakes and dials that spinning reels don't and you can easily throw bigger baits with a casting reel.
@@BestBass_fishing I agree, but I've found spinning rods allow you to focus more on fishing and not having to worry about knots/backlash, and I think the fight is more fun.
Different purpose. Baitcasters are meant for heavier lures with accuracy for artificial presentations. I love a spinning reel for finesse fishing like ultralight lures.
I agree spinning reel is the way to go.
thats the OG method that works like crazy. works perfectly. every time
The way I prevent backlash is I don't buy a baitcasting reel, I use a spinning reel instead
After the backlash, I thought he was just gonna cut the line 😂
I was dyeing while watching that cast😂😢
Also if you use rope line it won’t tangle that bad just a heads up
Went fishing on my own for the first time in forever and was so excited when I figured that out 😂
Him: do not pull on the lines
Other ppl: pull on the lines until it looks straight
hold your thumb lightly on the spool during your cast to slow it down near the end, also tighten the left dial so the spool spins just a little slower. backlash is usually from the spool still having momentum when your lure already hit the water.
My line does this all the time how do I prevent it!!! And tighten it
@@SLIMRISKY look on yt many videos on it have to use spool tension knob on right side and brake on left side and adjust to the lure you are using. changing lures may mean you need to adjust these.
This man sacrificed a backlash for us. Real g 💯
“You don’t want to pull up on the line, so next step pull the line up and untangle the knots” 💀
Welcome to the fraternal order of the birdsnest.
This doesn’t work
I just pull it and it comes out straight away most the time
I known this for a long time, a must-have technique. Also ayy Black max is an incredible reel for the price.
The adjustment will have to be made for every bait. Since worms and crankbaits don't weigh the same. For example
I purposely backlashed my baitcaster to test it and it really does work 💀
Cast while turning the reel 90⁰, eliminates most of all backlash
thanks dude, i got my first baitcaster this week ,im fishing for over 10 years now never had a baitcaster before partialy couse of backlashes
i’ve definitely just had more luck pulling it out and if it gets caught you move the piece of line it’s caught on
Instructions unclear I don’t have any my line on my reel and I’m tangled all in in the line
pov you have a spinning reel
*casts right into the wind*
I always want those kinds of fishing rods but I still need to learn a lot more with the open reel
Bro definitely edited it
You’re going to end up with a mess. Just tighten the brake and pull the line. No rinse and repeat necessary. If you run across a snag, push the line back a tad instead of pulling and gently rub the line side to side with your thumb, then pull it free
Just pull out the line until it stops, then pull out the loop from the spool side that is stopping the line from coming out, then pull the line out again until the backlash is out or you hit another loop and then do it again.
Let's just say I will fall into my knees and yelled no at the top of my lungs since that will ruin my entire week
That’s why my dad said don’t get those type of fishing rods😂
Little tip I also use a abu Garcia black max but that real works so much better with braid
Set the tension on each lures weight and no more backlash
people are too stupid to do that. people are so stupid they wage slave for 60 years and act like retiring at 65 is worth half a shit
With braid it’s better to pull it out and then just reel it back in
Homie has nails like Dracula's baby mama.
Line conditioner would help prevent it as well
Or just set your spool tension to the drop of your lure, and don’t flick your wrist at the end of the cast!
this is why I swapped reels cuz baitcasters usually get backlash often and once I got it and while trying to untangle it I hooked on to a 4-5 pound carp and it instantly tightened it and I had to wrestle it while trying to untangle the line till I gave up and cut it
I pull the line untill it gets stuck then I pull up the loop it's stuck on. Works every time
If you Bird nest make you line a little tight then look for the loops and bring them out then gide your line nicely in
Don’t do this unless you want to ruin your line and maybe even make the backlash worse
This is also why I use braided line. Sooooo much easier to get BL out.
This works sooo well
That’s why I hate them reels . This the dumbest reels ever made
Not true, baitcasters have their own special abilities that other reels don’t have. There is magnetic brakes and knobs you can tune to prevent a backlash.
Yea there super strong and good u just don’t know how two fish with them
@@STBcailshootoutI fished with 10 of them at training they a pond and all them looked like this or ended up being like this after casting
@@TheChamp601 because you don't know what you are doing. You need to set the brakes and tension knob so it stops the spool when the lure hits the water. There are videos about how to. Also hold your thumb on the spool and apply pressure when the lure is about to hit the water.
@@TheChamp601 lol sounds like an issue with the user. I bought a cheap baitcaster to practise with after about 20 minutes i was casting it just as good as my spin real.
I used to be only spin real but went fishing in washington state for salmon and the rods on the boat were all baitcasters. Nice thing about that is i didnt have to cast just pull line out by hand the guide told us how much to pull out depending where we were on the boat. Caught the biggest salmon that day.
Or don't use monofilament and use braided line. You will have more adjustment with your drag and a better time fishing.
I always called it a birds nest, not a backlash
THANK YOU
does it work with braided line
I thought south paws were so crafty!
I’ve never tried this but this looks like the scariest thing I could ever try😂😂😂
ok so i did this today and it worked
Deberias usar como linea hilo trenzado es mas resistente que el sedal y no se enreda 🎣
This is a good idea, but I prefer to just pull the line and if it stops and pull the big clump a couple times in different directions and keep doing it until it’s all gone
Love the pole dude I have one too😊
Um buddy that’s not a backlash that’s a birds nest
Definition of backlash:when your lure slows down during or after a cast, but the spool keeps spinning, which results in a tangled mess of line
Definition of birdsnest: If the spool continues to spin once the line hits the water, there will be too much excess line without tension and will often cause knots in your reel
A backlash you can just pull out but a birdsnest you have to pull the knots out thanks for showing how to take a birdsnest out
Haven’t had one that required respooling… yet.
Somehow they work out.
Step 1) Throw away baitcaster
Step 2) Buy a spinning reel.
Step 3) Enjoy fishing, not crochet.
god showed me this video for a reason because i just started learning to use bait casters and ive been pulling the tf out the line when I get a backlash. Thanks 🙏🏿
Glad I could help!
Oh god did? Thought maybe it was CZcams algorithm
@@TruIyDeadthey don’t believe in us, god did
Yeah don’t do this lol
He did that twice then cut the line 😂
That wind blowing is a backlash magnet it comes up ya better put on a heavier bait & slow down the cast speed & as always keep your thumb on the line. But just in case of wind or what not I also bring a spinning reel for drop shot etc. ya don’t drop shot with a bait caster.
Tie on lure of choice set magnetic brakes to zero. Adjust spool tension knob , so the lure slowly falls to ground. Then set your magnetic brakes back to 7-8, make cast lure should hit the water without backlashing and without breaking with your thumb. 👍💯
or just usw a regular reel like 90% and only BC for big baits
I was gonna ask if that the Kelowna area but then noticed the name of your channel lol
You also have to pull the line after applying pressure
The nails💀💀💀💀
👇
Did they just reel in the backlash to the spool ?
Yeah and it would go a whole lot quicker if you would just pull in the mainline slowly. I've been using bait casters for multiple years now and I have new had an issue with pulling on the main line
I’ve heard of it as a bird nest but not a backlash
I was waiting for the splash in the water lol
Very often, I get my backlashes out by just thumbing the spool backwards.
How many metters can u put on ?
Just tighten the tension knob and pull out
I thought he was just gonna say cut it lol
yeah first time i tried your method i got even worse knots if you backlash that bad that means you effed up when you put your bait on and didnt check your land drop
What I do is use a regular open face reel and I never have this problem lmao can’t convince me to use a bait cast reel
How do i do it? Cut the line and retie another hook.
Who else uses the pick pull method?😂😂
Yes me works way better than this bs this make your line overlap and knot up so you just get way more bird nests that regular
If only it were that easy and simple…
Fishing 101. Never listen to a 12 year old on how to do anything
shut up 101 dont listen to haters
This picture is the exact reason I switched to braid
Reminded me why I'll stay with spinning reels lol
I've always called that bird nesting
I was waiting for him to say buy a new reel
Did this and caught it my PB largie at 27.5lb on a rooster tail with 2# test. Who knew you could boat flip such a hog with such light line, on a BFS setup.
I have that fishing rod but green at white and I just set it up but I haven’t went fishing set
