A selection of sounds created on the Elka Synthex. These are mainly pad sounds and all are single eight voice patches, some using the onboard chorus and with an external reverb effect added.
Yes you should ! ;) I sold my Jupiter 8 when I got hold of the Synthex. The Jup is a great synth but only had room for one big analogue poly and the Synthex blew the Jup away.
God! These pads are fantastic. Good programing and good playing... The sound on 4:58 only a powerful amazing synth could make. Congrats on having one of these...
I think the e s makes the best sounds, and Jarre is the master of teasing out sounds that are as interesting as real instruments, in their own right. I wonder if he used the elka for the deep brass and twinkle sounds in the first rendezvous track, or one of the other synths. Which sounds amazing btw with powerful speakers. I'm thinking since all that music was done with additive and subtractive/filter synthesis, that to me still seems the way to go, ie directly build your sound from overtones. FM synthesis and later doesn't sound interesting to me, the modulating the modulators of the modulators in the end is just multiplying a bunch of signals or sound waves together, which isn't something that happens in nature.
I too have a Poly Evolver with an additional 4-voice rack, sat above my Synthex. Both synths have a fabulous sound and are higly versatile. A shoot-out is fairly pointless, a bit like comparing a violin to a cello. They both do different things exceptionally well. The PE is much more complex in terms of creative synthesis ability. To say the Synthex blows the PE out of the water is hollow conjecture. Would though that my Synthex have aftertouch controlling the VCF and more than one LFO .
The stereo outs (L & R) just split the voices, four to each output - useful if in split mode. You got the balance set correctly? I use a single mono output (L) for all eight voices to sound through (switch set to mono) in all modes.
Hello, I have synthex elka, and this being something beautiful. Now I try elka original sounds on tape, you have available for sale? kind for answer and best regards rob
I've heard this mentioned a few times so have just downloaded the demo. Other than for the design of the panel and obvious association in name, it's a very poor VST if designed to emulate a Synthex. Just listen to the JMJ laser harp sound ! It's terrible. It has some nice sounds in there and sure it's probably a decent soft synth (?) but a Synthex it's not and actually a poor attempt at one at first impression.
@@GlenJDiamond I have been tweaking my Elka-X while listening to Jarre. I've managed to tweak the "Laser Harp" patch on the VST to be virtually identical to what Jarre played on Rendez Vous.
1:47 makes my ears melt.
+Parker Tichko
me too, beautiful
very much :)
Very, very nice sounds... Love the pad capabillity.
deep, thick, blunt, pure analog...very great sounds!!
F Manuel Agreed and also penetrative and a dynamic spectrum for brasses and especially for strings.
agreed. but it's not "pure analog."
Jesus... get over it.
That is the finest collection of ysnth sounds I ever heard. Seriously, sounds amazing.
this synth blows all other synths out of the water, it is an incredible monster. I wanted one but, yesterday found one advertised for £7.500
thats cheaper than the ones I've seen.. Most I've seen are going for about 13-14 grand cad.
Wow. that's amazing. Synth prices have gone through the roof. it doesn't surprise me. Thank you.
that first patch is utterly gorgeous
Beautiful.Blissful sounds.Unbelievable.
Nooooo ! :) We've all done it, passing on things like these and a Jup 8 for a few hundred quid when digital was all the rage. Madness...
The pads are truly mind-blowing.
This synth is just great. It looks amazing and it sounds amazing!
The Pads at 1:47 are absolutely beautiful sounding
Now there's a happy owner ! Don't dwell on the cost of it, the value of these is only going one way. Just keep it tip top and enjoy :)
beautiful ... the soundtrack of vintage dreamworlds.

the pad @3.25 is amazing! I wish I wasn't so tight years ago and bought one back in the 90's!
i used to have one... sold it for a couple thousand bucks... was a great synth, but a monster to set up and haul around...
Your welcome. Saw him myself in Manchester last year and saw he had two on stage back then. Instantly in tune, unlike the Memorymoog... !
@OxideEndeavor.....Yeah, the first patch is pretty cosmic.
immense work thanks , Ill look out for one :) like it more than Ju 8
Thanks. It's one of many reverb presets built into a Behringer UB2222FX - PRO Mixer.
wonderfull analog pads, very special synth
Great demo, sound very good!
Great Synth!!!!!
truly amazing sounds.
Synthex it's a very nice machine, ( And Neuron a new world....-:) )

Every freaking time I hear this I am half tempted to rename my Jupiter 8 piggy bank... Elka Synthex Piggy Bank!

I have to agree. Although I like the Xils Lab Synthix it is NOTHING like the real Synthex.
4:21 4:54 my favorite
OK I'm going to have to model this Elka in my Nord G2.
Hello,

kind for answer and best regards

XILS now has a vst/AU of this synth available.
Which reverb was used? It sounds very nice.
great sounds!!!! my 'old lady' sounds almost the same. ;o)
Do you have stereo output or mono?my stereo doesnt give all pressed keys out... :o(
This is miles away from what the Xerxes crap from Black Corportaion is making for nearly $4000
I actually think the Xerxes is a very good reproduction, although expensive.
Does anyone know how much an Elka CUB 50 from the 80's is worth?? thanks
00:45 & 04:05 my favs
Fucking lush synthesizer

yummy jean-michelness
Still no VSTi simulation in sight for this one...
Cherry Audio - Elka-X -- would like to see someone do a comparison with the real deal soon to see if it is close.
@@GlenJDiamond Yeah, I have already checked the articles and videos. But still: Thanks! 🙂
