    Great video! But beware of using pure colour blender when blending dark color standoblue base. Refering to Standox TDS it´s not recommended to use for dark colors. (If bad luck, you can get milky streaks that will show thru clear at the edge of blending zone) If i blend dark colors, sometimes im not using colorblender at all (non metallics) and sometimes i tint the dark base with blender within the colormix itself...try it sometimes, works good especially on pearls/metallics! You will get a smoother softer blend.

    What was the first paint you did??

    • @Andrew.Prentice
      @Andrew.Prentice Před 6 lety

      I believe he used a "wet bed", which is basically a clear paint which helps the basecoat to blend better to the original paint. It helps to stop shade changes, or where metallic paint particles may not lie down the same as the main part that is being painted. This means that instead of the basecoat blend going on a bit dry, it goes on a wet surface, and lies the same as the paint on the rest of the repair. This can be seen particularly on silver cars where a wet bed hasn't been used and a dark shadow appears on the blend between the old and new basecoats.

      @megarolly94 Před 5 lety

      We should check the color code first of all, after we check if we have a sprayed card we check the match is okey or not. Every color system as like standox, ppg, sikkens, spies hecker, etc has a color box we check this as well or if we did not find the best one we can measure with a spectrometer and the computer choose the est one.

      It is all about the end result,no blender also mean alot of dust from the overspray, even when you spray more clear to cover the overspray,in weeks you will see all tiny marks where the overspray was even when you wipe away the overspray before clearing. So blender works both sides easyer to blend difficult colors and pick up loose parts that can create trouble in the end results. By the way when trying to spray away the overspray runners are coming more easy, what you think? And why would you not use a blender. Look older vids of me painting i did for years not using blender even with light colors
