Chromonica is a brand name of Hohner, one of the leading harmonica manufacturers. Chromatic is the type of harmonica that has all the complete notes of scale, meaning, including the sharps and flats, in contrast to a diatonic or tremolo. As beginner I suggest you start with a 10-hole chromatic - an Hohner chromonica 260 (10 holes) or a 270 (12 holes), or a Swan 10, very inexpensive. I used a 64 chromonica 280 in this piece. Yes, I am Filipino.

Hi Mr. Leynes! I came across your video, I am planning to buy a 64chromonica Hohner, someone's selling a slightly used. How do I check if its authentic?

I'm not an expert in determining how authentic a harmonica is. To my knowledge, there are several models of used Hohner 64 floating around, from wood comb, to nailed plates, to brown plastic to screwed models, from coffin type carrying case, to soft brown vinyl case, to crocodile skin design case, to the black hard plastic case, to straight tuned and to cross tuned. I suggest you go for the cross tuned, black plastic combed with plates screwed through comb and comes with black hard plastic carrying case, which is the latest version. Any other model below this is either nailed plates, or wood combed or straight tuned.

Vir Leynes I have the pictures, how can I send it to you? Btw, are you from Manila before during your elementary to high school years? Your name seems to be familiar to me.
