    Hi kabayan, good to hear from you. The super 270 is a very popular harmonica and the wooden combed model such as yours is still being used up to now. If you surf eBay you'll find quite a number being auctioned, some are of pre-war vintage and most of these have cracked combs or rusting reeds plates. Although it can be serviced the 270 is difficult to maintain - nails were used to fasten the reeds plates and it takes quite a skill to remove them, put them back or replace them with screws.

    Thanks for an informative video. I have an Educator 10 Chromatic that stopped blowing through a couple of holes in December. I followed your instructions (minus the sanitizer device) and now its playing as good as new within 16 minutes of following your directions. Now I'm going to work on a few other old Chromatics that are taking up space in my den.

    thanks, will look for nails removal video... my Seydel Bandmaster chromatic is nailed like a nightmare. I have reinforced the opposite side's reed plate one area at a time with a scrap hardware nut (using the nut like a short, fat-walled cylinder-anvil so the hole can let the nail head come out while bracing brass carefully around it) while tapping nail point on the other side's reed plate with small hammer. I hate to shock the reeds with this trauma. The nail heads are now raised enough, perhaps, to pry a little, but don't wish to, of course, damage the reed plate

  • @guilhermetoledorodrigues1205

    Uau!!! Good job!!! So, Please, I would very much like you to tell me what is the most practical way to buy reed plates for Hohner super chromonica?

  • @sonoflucas75
    @sonoflucas75 Před 12 lety

    I like the Super 270, it has a clear, distinct sound and very responsive. The main problem, I think, is the comb, it has a tendency to crack, especially in extreme weather conditions and I've repaired quite a number of these. I usually cure the comb with "salad bowl finish" or butcher block oil but I have no idea how far these cured combs can go. If you are a serious harper the more advance version, the Super 270 De Luxe, is the next best alternative.

    The valve flaps, like a piece of paper against a headwind. Meron yan 2nd layer, baka nakanganga na kaya at hindi na mapigilan ang pagpaypay ng lower layer. Ang unang hihip butas ay nasa upper reeds plate kung tintugtog ang silindro sa harap ng audience. Meron takip na puting plastic (or leather) ito yong barbula. Eksamen mo, himasin mo para tumuwid. Kung ayaw na baka dapat palitan na . Nakaka-order sa Hohner, sobra-sobra dami, mga beinte piraso bawat isang butas, marami kang reserba.

    Hi. Where can I find valves for my chromatic harmonica in the USA? I can't find any online store that sells them. Hohner's website ran out of stock for a long time by now.

    I ws about to do the same to my Larry Adler Pro 16, when I discovered that the return spring on the chromatic slide plate was broken. Is it possible to get a replacement?

    • @Harmonikteknik
      @Harmonikteknik Před 7 lety

      Part is available from Hohner. Go to "us.playhohner.com" and search for price list. You can do your own replacement with a size 4 safety pin, cut to size.

    Get a CX12, by the time it took you to put everything on the table , you would've had the CX12 apart in literally 3 seconds time with no tools what so ever.

      +Ray Navarrette How do I open my CX 12!? I'm on this video in an attempt to figure it out.

    • @Harmonikteknik
      @Harmonikteknik Před 7 lety

      The CX12 is entirely a different design. Start by removing the slider. Lift the slider button slightly up and pull. Then, remove the bar lock at the back by pressing (using your thumb) on both ends and sliding the bar to left or right to ease out one of the ends. With the bar out the comb-plates assembly falls off easily.

  • @terrymccheese1848

    Totally unnecessary and does more harm than good. A complete waste of time and effort. The harmonica was probably cleaner before he started his insane rigmarole.
