Yes Jane, if only you and Marilyn kept in touch after GPB, maybe she would be at your beach house that day and we wld still see at least a few more decades of Marilyn on TV or even in this world.

Jane Russell is so magnanimous, & you can tell she genuinely liked & appreciated Marilyn. She could easily badmouth Marilyn the way so many have after Marilyn's death, but instead she consistently praises Marilyn's talent & amiability. Her assessment of Marilyn as sensitive, driven & ambitious, talented, funny & deeply insecure is actually the assessment that's emerged over time, despite the fact that Jane was saying these things decades ago when it was still popular to diminish & dismiss Marilyn's identity & talent. I come away from this with a greater appreciation of Marilyn, but more than that a deep respect for Jane Russell & how she conducts herself. Strong, honest, talented beautiful women--both of them.

A lot of people seemed to appreciate things about working with her though (kind of like britney spears. Many have loved working with her but she's been torn to shreds at the same time and had people in the industry hurt her to get ahead).

I have been through some traumatic things in my life but when I learned to deal with stuff and just accept it or move on I was finally doing better and got off the meds. I mean sometimes it was still hard but I worked through it and without meds and I'm better for it. I do not think taking that stuff for years and years and years was good. I agree with Jane if she had a good homebase and like long term good friends or if any of her marriges would have worked out and she could have made her own family I think she would have been happy but I heard she kept losing babies and she wanted to be a mother so bad and make a family. And then her marriages were not working out and getting divorced. I think she could not cope with losing babies either and I think that is one of the things she wanted the most and felt like she could not get for herself and give to her husband. She probably felt she could not make a family without a baby and I think that hurt her very much. I know they showed pictures of her coming out the hospital when they said she lost her baby and she just looked distract. I mean sometimes it was still hard but I worked through it and without meds and I'm better for it. I do not think taking that stuff for years and years and years was good. What she needed was a good therapist or counselor that actually cared. I was the same like her I have no family but one family member that it was not good with at first so I had to learn how to deal. I'm not sure she could have kids I don't think her body could do that some womens bodies can just not hold and have kids for some reasons and I heard she lost a lot of babies.

In fact she opened my eyes to what she was actually like, she was intelligent, great sense of humor, very sensitive and literally had no family or core group of close friend confidantes. It can be persuasively argued that she was closer to Joe DiMaggio's SON, in a sort of big-sister way, than she was to Joe himself, in the last years. She talked to the son, not Joe, on the night of her death. And she was dearly fond of Arthur Miller's father. I'd rather work hard like these women instead of now. And I wish they would stop talking bad about marilynn monroe and maybe others.... look how her life her ended bc. Of who. She ran into and what happened to this beautiful woman who was in her hardest times so at that time never seen things another way or paid too. I'm sorry but I feel so very strong bc of the fact that how she passed was not right and so very sad and taken advantage of from other men whether she had a choice or not. And most time not.... and this was not apart of her career and off set other actresses.. and only the close ones truly maybe have known but knew and couldn't say shit bc of this business. And that they might take them out also.... she was a big victim in this business and it's sad that they didnt look out for her but left her to herself and take "the pain" was supposed to be able to be able to be fine. And after awhile esp with the JFK family members she was a hit and probably along with others who thought she all know she should have been alive alot longer than what she did. Breaks my heart😥😪😢😭🤧

prettylittlepsycho 1027 I have to admit I didn’t read quite all of your words, but I’m with you on the desire for some aspects of that time as opposed to now-but I emphasize some aspects. I’m guessing based on your comment that you are definitely not (racially) Black. Not a good time for us. But as far is the glamour, the essence of people in general from the poor to the rich-seems like everyone I want it to look nice and did look nice using whatever they had. Femininity was fine, and not looked down on-it definitely has its good points, that time.
But Hollywood was a hell like a nightmare for black people. And I think about how people like Lena Horne, Sidney Poitier, Dorothy Dandridge, and others still stood there went out there did great work and look beautiful doing it when they couldn’t even go to the bathroom In some of the same places that they performed-in front of all white only audiences at that. I don’t think a lot of people like to acknowledge or even have a clue the depth and the very far-reaching effects of the psychological damage that did. Yes some people do take this true phenomenon for lack of a better term, and places in contacts where it is not immediately relevant or even not there in a specific given situation, and I think that’s what a lot of people respond negatively to. But the truth is this is very real and has a lot to do with a lot, shall I say. This is worth saying.
But all of this to say I understand why someone would prefer that era-but I have to say only someone who isn’t black would/ might fully agree with you, friend. Cheerio.

Jane was one cool woman. I loved her honesty and for being a big deal, she was not full of herself. Marilyn Monroe was very lucky to have known and worked with this gorgeous, down-to-earth lady. Wish we could've seen the whole Raphael interview.

Jane was a devout Christian with a good common sense down to earth quality that served her well. Even being constantly questioned about Marilyn when the interview was supposedly about her, she kept a good humor about it. She was a true star and far from a diva. She was all class and a true lady, beautiful inside and out.

Imagine how iconic Marilyn is that even Jane, one of the most famous actress of all time was asked about Marilyn all the way to her last years of life. Imagine how iconic Marilyn is that Madonna, the most successful singer ever, basically imitated Marilyn in the song Material Girl and named her in the song Vogue. Also, Mariah Carey bought Marilyn's white piano and has it at home. Also, Marilyn's ex-husband Joe DiMaggio, one of the most iconic baseball players EVER, sent roses to her grave for the rest of his life after she died. If all that is not amazing, rich people buy portraits of her face costing millions. Also, the dress she wore in some like it hot is worth millions (a dress people !!!). If all that wasn't enough, we CZcamsrs are watching videos about her close to 60 years after her death !!! and if you people don't think all those facts are amazing then........ go back to watching Kim Kardashian and Justin Beiber.

There will be a time in 60 yrs when Kim and Justin will be idolised too. They are one of the most infamous & influential people in this era (just like Marilyn was) and one day someone will give a long speech just as you did about them. It's a never ending cycle.👀
