    If the epoxy is 'self-leveling', then how do you maintain a slope within the shower pan? I've been considering doing this project but don't want to end up with a level surface (that will not drain properly).

      I am facing a project of replacing or repairing the floor of my shower. It was cracked you can still feel it move and hear it under the repair that was done. The repair was done, as I was informed, using spray foam under t floor and a thick coat of "Flex Seal" on it ... The spot is soft .. cover with concrete ten epoxy?

    I've got a travel trailer that I want to renovate entirely and the bathroom is first thing. This idea is spot on. The base for the shower is very similar to yours, odd shape. I also want to drop the floor a few inches below the original floor which will require some planning because the holding tank is underneath.
    I'd like to incorporate a slab of tree trunk like they are using for the tables .
    It'll take some time, not a quick project but it looks awesome in my mind right now.
    Hopefully I'll do a video of it and I'm open to any ideas on this.
    Thanks for sharing your video that has inspired me to do this.

      I, too, was wondering about the flexibility of the epoxy. I've been researching epoxy for a good while. I've been told it shouldn't be used over wood because it's not flexible and will crack when the wood flexes. However, I have read that there are some types that will flex. I think wooden boat builders use some type of epoxy, but not sure about that.

      I did not put a pitch because I can put the slightest slope when I level the trailer for camping and the water runs out just fine.

    So I just have one question, I'm doing this same thing in a cargo trailer. How did you attach the drain and over come the spacing between floor and shower pan?

    • @kinduo
      @kinduo  Před 5 lety

      On mine, there is no space between the floor and shower pan. The drain goes through the floor. I attached the pan by screwing screws from underneath the trailer into the pan. Just be sure the screws are not so long that they go all the way through.

      Yeah thats why hes doing it in a trailer instead of a real bathroom where a 1/4' per foot slop is MANDATORY. I hope people don't think it's that easy. I was hoping to see how he magically prevented the epoxy FROM levelling to allow for pitch..

      I would imagine you could tilt the piece ever so slightly so that it "self levels" at a slight angle. Honestly your RV will never be perfectly level so it really doesnt matter.

    I am afraid that your epoxy coat is way too thin. If it was thicker your art work would not be forced. Even two more thin coats would be good each time adding a 3D to the art you created. From the side view the surface does not seem to be smooth. Sanding between coats creates a better bond. One more thing, more accidents occur in bathroom from slick surfaces? Shower surfaces? Epoxy is glass like. Maybe my concerns are not founded. but who knows.
