    Before you port it could you do a gasket delete and open the muffler to see what that does first. It would be great to see the progression in stages. Just my opinion.

    There will never be another all around awesome saw like the original Husqvarna 372. Yours needs a high top to make it look cooler 😁. We used to cut a lot of Red Pine White Pine Jack Pine Spruce once in awhile Etc. Throw a lot of hook at your chain and an 8-pin sprocket makes quick business of delimbing those bushy trees. Love my babies miss my babies now my babies are having babies.

      I agree on the 372 OE. Always run Stihls, have a ported 044 and a few both larger and smaller. Picked up a 372XP yesterday for $250 off Marketplace, and already very fond of this saw. Even lighter and much smoother than my beloved 044.

      @@tinmanssaws the high top makes space for Red Beard Saw’s fantastic velocity stack and foam filter to fit underneath the cover. Superior air filtration options are reason enough to make it worth re-learning your filing position. 😎

    With the utmost respect I would approach that jobby differently. I would limb all those trees with the little 236 or 350 pile up the waste for burning and then firewood the rest with the 70cc.

    Ahh yes, the 3 AM feedings and diaper changes. Good times, really. We had a baby monitor and I always knew when you could here her shuffling around in her crib was the precursor and I knew it wouldn't be long before getting out of bed for the nightly routine, great memories. As a father looking back it didn't seem like fun at the time but it was a real joy in my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything. She's just turned 27, time really does fly once you have kids.

    I run a 365 xtorque with a 28in bar and work in a lot of blow down on friends farms (free firewood is always 🙂). The difference is really noticable after a couple of hours of my buddies running their 20in homeowner saws they are feeling it and I'm still in the thick of the brush getting the limbs off so we can winch the logs big enough to make firewood out. my saw is way heavier but I don't feel like I'm working as hard with the long bar and using the weight to my advantage.

    OK, so you got me into porting saws. So thanks! And, I get the long bar thing. For bigger wood, I grab a bigger saw with a long bar. But, and this is just my humble opinion, I'd pick my horrible 58 cc china zenoah clone saw with a 20" bar to limb and buck that crappy spruce, because it is fast enough, and way lighter than than a 372. Especially if it is in the air, like those are, so you don't really need to bend over too much. Even your 562 is heavier than those crappy zenoah clones. Maybe one of Charles Brisco's Echo 490's would be the ticket here, with a 20" or 24" bar. But, little weak wood doesn't need much of a saw. I do love all you do, and definitely would cut as you do if it was in my hands, as it works too. But, I'm old, and if it aint on the ground, I'm grabbing a lighter saw, with a 20 or 24" bar. Just how I feel at the moment. I have that exact saw, but in Jonsred, and I have a blue clone too, which so far has been a bit of a fun project - heh heh. Don't forget the brake clean to try to find where it is sucking air. I'll get it sorted eventually, and ported too. It runs pretty ok when it isn't freaking out. My house is warm at the moment due to that saw, so I just gota say thanks, for the fun, and the heat. Love your content, and appreciate all I've learned from you.

    I understand what you're saying about long bars being easier on the body with less crouching to reach wood lower to the ground.
    But a 72cc saw seems rather large and heavy for wood that size, here I'd only be using the 52cc, and actually I'd probably do most of the limbing with the little Stihl MSA140C 12" electric.
    Wouldn't I be easier to use a lighter 40cc class saw rather than the 70cc class 372?

    • @marcellemay7721
      @marcellemay7721 Před 3 měsíci

      I have the Husky 142 42cc saw with a 16" bar. I'm pretty sure they offer a 18" bar for that saw. That would be ideal for limbing. That little saw has a lot of power for a small saw and it's light. I also have a 450 rancher and a 372xp. If i don't need the power of those big saws I generally reach for that 142. I even like to buck stuff up to 12"...with it and it doesn't even flinch.

    Great video as always but I disagree about bar size. West coast loggers have a need for a longer bar. Liming smallish soft wood like that I would run a smaller saw with a 16” bar, simply less weight to throw around. Their is a reason that professional loggers who cut in parts of the world other than west coast use smaller bars. Each their own and still a great saw.
