Jocko, I’m a recently retired cop served 25 years. I now train cops in a peer support, officer wellness program like the issues you discuss. We train them to be active bystanders with their fellow cops over their career. Taking a stand and helping each other through the tough times in an effort to stop misconduct and potential litigation. Let’s work together! You rock. Thanks Joe!
There should be a time where a rookie is given a training set, and is escorted to a training Sim with limited information, and that is the the initial emotional test to see if they're mature and qualified for the position
I've heard many people and even police departments such as the NYPD have taken a huge stance on community policing. It's the way to go and it's definitely not being swept under the rug.
I'm a Correction Officer and a Combat Infantry Veteran of oif. I also spent nearly 10 years in the private sector. I've been saying for years that departments need more training. It needs to be a Priority. Also, Jocko's absolutely correct about the mindset.
@CodingCrusader1095 Actually, the government LOSES MONEY, for every inmate incarcerated for canibus charges, as does the tax payer. I honestly wish they'd go ahead and legalize it everywhere, so we can invest our resources into stopping actual violent criminals.

As a former cop, in my 4 years, we did no...i repeat NO mandatory combatives training. I did fine with combative encounters because of 4 years of high school wrestling. but tried to get cop buddies to come train...they wouldn't do it. They didn't want their ego to take a hit. I remember certain cops screaming out of the radio in distress when someone mildly resisted them. They had no idea what to do in a situation where someone didn't do what they said, let alone actually tried to fight them.
This is so true. I’m a current officer and a former wrestler as well as a currently wrestling coach. There is almost no combative training and even in the academy we were told 20% bc the job is so worried that people will get hurt and sue or go out from injuries due to the training.

Why i feel George Floyd is a straight up lie like how one old man supposedly killed and injuried 150 people at a country fest in Vegas or Sandy Hook.. It's all a lie by the Deep State..
Man thank you for giving people that insight! Just a couple weeks ago when I heard defund the police, I thought exactly how Jocko is. Aside from the fraction of lunatics, they have a decent point with meaning to reallocate that extra money. However, like he said, as a black person I would much rather it go into training. I already knew law enforcement training was short and varies, but you really put it into perspective. I have 2 other theories of what might help, one being to fire officers for “smaller” issues that might lead to the death of someone, so that way it would force every other officer to be held to a higher standard so they don’t lose their job. I like hearing about what people have to say about all this and what they think would help. A lot better on here than twitter too, on there you would’ve gotten bombarded with “You didn’t get proper training? Your the fucking devil for staying as an officer!”
Minneapolis actually had a meeting for the city council about a week ago (about 3 months after they defunded) and every person in the zoom called asked about why there was a rise in crime.
Police used to walk on the streets and speak to the public and be a part of the community. This isn’t as frequent and now the relationship is not as good as it was. Well said both of you.
If our cops trained even a hair as much as the military we wouldn’t be having as many issues. Plus, it would weed out those who don’t make the cut. This whole podcast was very well said.
Not all units train in the manner Jocko explained. High tempo units like SF/SEALS/PJ's etc. have the funding to do that level training while on the opposite end of the spectrum many support units have to use creative accounting just to get basic remedial training. But I do agree with your statement that police needs to increase their training budgets.

It's hard to build relationships with the community/ train when the officers are going call to call for 12 hours. But Jocko has brought up many great points.
That seems like something that need to be changed. It’s also something he mentioned: how after a moment of high stress they (police) need to take a step back and calm down. He’s talking about systemic changes in procedures at the department level not just behaviors the individual officers should alter.
Ran night club security and one rule I had was the bouncer that kicked someone out didn't go outside with the guest. The bouncer would escort them to the door and another bouncer would take over and talk to them outside and de-escalate the situation. Found that the people would calm down quicker and we had alot less bad situations. He had a good point when he said another officer should have gone over and took over once Floyd was cuffed and on the ground
As someone who works in law enforcement i absolutely love what J.Willink is saying about training and what is needed i get 1 8hr use of force and de-escalation training every year as a NY Correctional officer and its just verbal and video teaching NOTHING HANDS ON , and we're supposed to be proficient what a joke.....

Jocko is 100 percent right about this. I left police work exactly because of how people feel about police in this day and age. I grew tired of being called a racist and being screamed at because some yahoo is watching a felony traffic stop and I've got my gun out. I grew tired of being harassed by people shoving their camera phones in my face even though I have a body cam. And I could give a shit if someone filmed me. I don't care. But I did care when people would interfere in the hopes of "going viral". I miss it. I really do, but I'm in a trade now and doing pretty good. And he's right about training. We got 8 hours of hand to hand and 8 hours of ground fighting in the academy. That's it. And for in-service training once a year, we got 8 hours for both. Thankfully, one of the guys in my old agency is a BJJ blackbelt and would hold training sessions for anyone that wanted to show up. There were maybe 30 of us total out of 200 or so deputies that would show up. I miss it every day pretty much, but I can't go back and I pray for my brothers and sisters in blue every day.
Well, the amount of officers that turn off or have "malfunctioning" body cams is a little weird. So if I were you, I'd shut my mouth about things that are perfectly legal. Are you American? "I don't care about being filmed" but you sure do have a lot of resentment about it. What are you doing that you can't be filmed? Wouldn't you be suspicious if some guy didn't let you search his bag or car? Well they're searching your conduct. Deal with it, snowflake.
All jokes aside, Jocko is a very smart guy and very well educated. I respect the fact that he doesnt talk about things he doesnt know about, and the stuff he does he has extensive knowledge about.
That's the whole point of Jocko’s argument that the police officers should spend at least 1/5 of the year in training, going through scenarios, getting physically fit and get them to feel calm under pressure, like learning a martial art or joining the SEAL team. There’s a documentary on Netflix about how the Flint Michigan police department reorganized and became more community focused after the Flint Water Crisis, and we even saw their Sheriff and deputies marched with the protesters in solidarity to prevent any escalation of violence and encourage both sides to come together.
Great point! People are going asinine times a thousand about the police right now. Wait until they need them in an emergency. Society can't peacefully and realistically exist without police enforcement.

Thank you, Jocko. This is a well respected US Navy SEAL, telling the country the truth. In my state all that is required to maintain certification is a 24hrs of training a year. Early on in my career I used sick leave to attend a 5 day training course, that was geared towards to ground fighting. The first day we spent 6 hrs in the classroom, the final two hours were spent getting familiar with the simunition glocks, and AR's that we would use for scenarios. The next day we began scenarios immediately. The first few scenarios were all handled using no force at all. I went to lunch, and the first scenario, I was called to a bar fight. As I walked into the "bar" and was immediately grabbed by two guys and the 3rd strolled over and shot me in the head...
Hit the nail on the head with the “dehumanizing” aspect. The media and politicians are really turning us all against each other through dehumanizing the “other side”.
The other side "dehumanized" themselves by not acting human to the public and the bystander partner cops that watched the inhumanity continue The people who say they are deviding us just don't want to deal with the issue and reveal the truth we've been devided since they started seeing everyone as hostile and killing unarmed people

I agree with Jocko on a lot of what he says. My dad was a deputy sheriff for 32 years. He has severe PTSD to the point where he barely talks to people and will randomly get upset even when nothing goes on. He’s told me stories about having to talk down relatives of suicide victims, he saw a man kill himself during a standoff, he had to talk to a child who was a victim of rape, and he once had to hold a little girl in his arms who was shot as she died. That drained the man. Seriously drained the life from him. He’s 63 and looks like he’s 73. There needs to be breaks for cops every few months where they can decompress, and get help. There needs to be support for them. All my dad got was a tiny pension and a fuck you very much for all his service. And he was lucky compared to his partner Jerry who retired in poverty and died of cancer. Defund the police?! Mother fuckers we need to triple their funding and help these people. Jocko for sheriff.
I wish I could think him for his service, no matter what he's done, any man to put himself in that position is more man then anyone who would utter defund the police.
You can defund the police while still prioritizing helping the officers. They are not mutually exclusive. In fact funding the police more makes them do more things, and we could use that funding to invest into social workers that could help.
@@littlebiglsteele4158 I don’t agree. Every time we take away from cops we see more crime. Public works and social programs have existed for decades and done nothing because they aren’t aimed at helping the poor to get out of that life but rather to reward them and incentivize them to stay poor. There are endless programs for poor, female and minorities to get free education, lunches at schools and laws that dictate that a company must have a minimum number of minorities, women and people with alternative sexualities and yet in spite of all of it, we see no improvement because it’s easier to just kick back and take a check from the government. Having lived in a county that’s filled to the brim with this type of nonsense, I can assure you that more funding for this crap does t help. What does help is families acting like families. Communities coming together to have each other’s backs. But that requires us to get off our asses and be uncomfortable but god forbid anyone sweat a little and maybe help their neighbor out by babysitting or shoveling their driveway or even just inviting them over for dinner or even a beer to watch the game. The problem isn’t a money issue. It’s a “we don’t want to have to deal with it ourselves” issue. And trust me as someone who lives in a town where the cops are just scraping by and it’s easier to get on welfare than to get a job, the results are disastrous. Be the change you want to see my friend.
@@concordetconstabulary219 the "people living off welfare" is an absolutely exagerated myth. And i dint think its fair to boil this down to a sinple cultural issue either. The social safety nets in america are not nearly enough and putting good ones in place will not lead to people living off handouts. No country with better programs has that problem. Also dont you think people would be more likely to have that sense of community if they were payed more and were less stressed from living paycheck to paycheck and thus had more time to do so.
@@littlebiglsteele4158 the issue of living paycheck to paycheck is a result of two things. Life choices and taxes. Lower taxes and companies can pay people better. Regarding your “exaggerated myth” accusation. Have you lived in a blue state before versus a red or purple state? California, New York, Illinois, Michigan and Massachusetts have some of the highest taxes, and highest social programs and yet have the highest crime rates despite spending ungodly amounts of tax payer money on social programs and having the strictest gun laws in the nation. Why they don’t completely fail is due to the federal government bailing them out. Look at red states like Texas, Kentucky, Georgia, and Arizona and you’ll see booming markets because they tax people far less. Regarding “other countries have done this and had no issues” argument. The United States is the power house of the world. The Unites States army has bases in every single socialist nation to act as protection. These nations that have so much money for said social programs do not face the burden of raising a military to guard other nations. Also the United States is far more ethnically diverse than these socialist nations. With diversity come disagreements. A devout Muslim from Saudi Arabia is not going to have the same values as an agnostic bi sexual open relationship couple in the United States. An African American family that is highly religious is not going to have the same values as a bohemian German family. White poor people from the country side are not gonna have the same values as urban African Americans or even urban whites. That’s just a taste of what this country is comprised of and yet we are all expected to get along and live as one people. There are going to be conflicts here you won’t see in Norway where the biggest conflict they face is snow. I know it’s not politically correct but “diversity” isn’t a strength. It’s a liability because people who come from different backgrounds, don’t always get along. Hell just put a white liberal and a white conservative from the same state in a room together and they can’t even get along. America faces issues that these nations don’t. America isn’t like these nations for a reason. And trying to be like them isn’t going to work because America by design isn’t supposed to work like these nations. I mean no offense to you. You seem like a good hearted person and I will extend an olive branch and agree that community can’t solve every single issue. Government should be run based on morals. Laws should be ratified or struck down for moral reasons. And I’ll even go so far as to say police shouldn’t be decked out in military style gear for everyday patrols short of bad neighborhoods. But I’ve been around police my entire life. I’ve seen these things with my own eyes. I don’t say the things I say to be cruel. I say them because I’ve seen these policies pushed and fail time and again and again. We the people need to step up more. Yes police should be trained more for peace keeping than for fighting but the sad reality is their job is to put themselves in these situations. And when you have less than a second to respond to a threat, you are going to make mistakes. It’s easy to dissect the problem when sitting from afar but when your in the shit it’s all or nothing.
Here in my hometown Austin, Tx, city council officially defunded our police department, removing $150 million dollars from its budget and getting rid of 80-90 police officers. I was a cop in Baltimore for several years before I was able to leave for a different job. Best thing I ever did. In Baltimore, while I was in academy they used us as test subjects for the new applicant test to get in to the department. It was far easier than the test I took and was mostly matching faces of people. While in the academy many of my class mates regularly failed written test and were able to take them again. Then if they failed again they went to another room and always came back with a passing grade. They lower the standards every year because they can't keep enough officers to do the job. You are pressured to answer calls and get disciplined if you take to long on a call. Some calls take time to do right but they don't give you the time. It was a terrible place to work, the corruption was bad and most of the command staff are so out of touch with policing it's sad. Also a lot of the command staff would be lucky to have an education higher than a G.E.D. The best predictor for job performance is intelligence...

Blue Moon he isn’t wrong, in UK our officers have to have a degree now. Training will do a lot but American police are ignorant and need education to have better community relations.

As ex-military, who was part of the fire service in our military this is so true. We constantly trained for situations weekly, daily in some instances. We would have a whole week of training in a 4 week work routine. As well as do various training exercises whilst on duty. Training constantly helps you focus for a situation as it arises. Yes there are are factors that can effect the situation but you can prepare so much better for a situation. It allows you moments of clarity to allow you to adapt.
Easy to do in the military when your whole purpose is to be an unused deterrent force so all you have is free time. Hard to do for a police force for a locality where people are being killed every single day and taking cops off of patrol to train in jujitsu or something can mean the difference between someone being murdered or the police responding in time.
He's being an apologist for cops though. Yeah, they most definitely need more training but there needs to be lots of other reform to stop the power trips, racism, brutality, etc.
Everyone forgets tax dollars and minimizing liability are what city's care about. Those are the driving forces behind hiring and polices. It's a balance between cost and performance.

@@michaelsanchez9594 Lol 58k aint shit. Plenty of people could work trade jobs or other less dangerous jobs and make more money. They'd also make more money not being a cop and avoid dealing with the constant politics/criticism. If you're only going to pay 58k, then expect the candidate pool to to dwindle in terms of quality. If you want to train cops more and require them to be better educated, you need to pay them more as well. There are many larger states that pay a lot more in terms of salaries. Many departments pay close to six figures. Having such low pay for public servants that are shit on all day will make it difficult to recruit good police officers. There needs to be a bigger incentive to do a tough job. All across the country there's a lack of people going into policing. The pay has to be worth the trouble, especially if extra training/schooling is required. There's an extreme shortage of cops in every city. It will only get worse with candidate selection.
Good point. If each officer had to have some type of liability insurance, it would add another layer of protection...for the public. Can't get insured, can't be a cop. I think communities having a say in things helps more minorities become a part of the "force" .

The amount of training we go through for rules of engagement in a combat zone is astonishing but cops have basically almost free will to fire. They need the same training we go through

Scary
This is so true. I’m a current officer and a former wrestler as well as a currently wrestling coach. There is almost no combative training and even in the academy we were told 20% bc the job is so worried that people will get hurt and sue or go out from injuries due to the training.
My dad was SFPD for 12 years retired back in 2003 and he was a big ass Pacific Islander who is also a Marine and trained jiu jitsu for 15years..
Really up to the officer themselves back then to learn techniques in apprehending a suspect.. Like most with the Big Heads and Egos they're the first ones calling distress while my dad knew more ways to have a bad guy in hand cuffs with pressure point moves that I know from experience would have me screaming like a banche! Never had my father had to kneel on somebody's back or head or even shoot his gun at somebody who didnt ask for it. Why i feel George Floyd is a straight up lie like how one old man supposedly killed and injuried 150 people at a country fest in Vegas or Sandy Hook.. It's all a lie by the Deep State..
Curious... Why did you leave the force?

That seems like something that need to be changed. It’s also something he mentioned: how after a moment of high stress they (police) need to take a step back and calm down. He’s talking about systemic changes in procedures at the department level not just behaviors the individual officers should alter.
That is one of his best points. The departments need to create that time.
Ran night club security and one rule I had was the bouncer that kicked someone out didn't go outside with the guest. The bouncer would escort them to the door and another bouncer would take over and talk to them outside and de-escalate the situation. Found that the people would calm down quicker and we had alot less bad situations.

The other side "dehumanized" themselves by not acting human to the public and the bystander partner cops that watched the inhumanity continue
The people who say they are deviding us just don't want to deal with the issue and reveal the truth we've been devided since they started seeing everyone as hostile and killing unarmed people

My brother was a cop and he had to deal with coruption in his department which put him in a very stressful situation! Man, when the leaders are corrupt and don't have your back???? He passed away a few months after he retired.
Guess its time to build my underground tunnel system and set up my Rambo traps
How do you stop people like you from instigating or being complicit in assulting people. Would you tell on a fellow officer? Of course not you guys are thugs ,not much different than the idiots you arrest. Joe did a show about this type of behavior with a former police officer. Him i respect,he was a honorable man
How close was it to the wire?
@@mitchellwilder598 you're assaulting me with your idiocy
The test you take to become a cop filters out anyone with an IQ over 106. This has recently been fought over in the courts.
They want dumb people to join who follow bad orders, and who they can shift blame on to when things go wrong.
@@mitchellwilder598 You know almost nothing about me you are merely discriminating based on my former job. Be better.
This is gold. He's actually giving solutions.
Actual solutions based on rationality and logic. Not "solutions" out of pure hatred and ill-willed emotion.
He is bang on the money training is key
Do you understand how dumb police are? the educational standards are piss poor, set low standards get low people....
Blue Moon he isn’t wrong, in UK our officers have to have a degree now. Training will do a lot but American police are ignorant and need education to have better community relations.
Najma college degrees aren’t worth much, regular training at the unit and much longer expanded academy are key. College degrees are to poisoned by political professors and low academic standards any more.
Dude's a legend, he solved for me the whole situation
Okay you guys I haven't heard anything about paying higher wages for police do you think that might help too.
@@dianenoga8538 watch the whole video again
I've taken self defense. Started feeling more confident to handle some situations. Couldn't afford to keep going. Slowly I have felt less confident, have lost valuable skills, got slower and weaker. I can't imagine being a police officer or soldier without continued training, education & support. Without that I believe I would be a greater risk to myself and others.
When I was growing up we had cops walking the beat they knew everybody in the neighborhood and everybody knew who they were. They had permission from the parents to bring us home if we were acting up. Guess what I'm trying to say is we were taught to have respect for the police. But have to say they knew everything that's going on in the neighborhoods. So it's just a thought maybe you need a lot of police out there on foot walking the beat
@@dianenoga8538My grandfather was a cop for over 30 years..
He always said the biggest mistake that police force's ever made was phasing out the officers walking the beat in small towns and villages.
He always said that was the beginning of the end of the two way street of respect between police and public
When did Matt Damon get so jacked?
Lmao that’s good bro, Jocko ever has a movie about him, Matt Damon now has to play that role
When did Matt Damon become a midget?
Jocko is 5’11 or 6 feet tall. Look at his pictures on google
In Elysium, around 7 years ago. Silly boo, izzy
Matt Damon would need to find some common sense before he could play Jocko's role😂😂🍻🍻
“We do not rise to the occasion-we fall to the level of training” Archilochus
Thanks for letting me know this quote. It's great.
I like it
I like the line from the movie Whiplash. "People don't rise to expectations, they sink to them".
this is beautiful thanks
@@themistoklestheodosopoulos6253 - fantastic movie!
So refreshing to hear reason and morality rolled into one great conversation
My work just had Leif Babin, Jocko's co-author to Extreme Ownership, as our keynote speaker to our global sales meeting.
These dudes make noise and motivate. They were and are the real men we want to be.
My best friend growing up was a cop. Shot and killed a guy completely justified. Ended up hanging himself. Most never want to have to use their gun
Sorry to hear that man 🙏🏽
@@hoodiejack thanks. I know most are just regular people and would never want to actually take a life. Unfortunately we are all human and some can be real dickheads ruining for the majority of good people
*sees thousands of videos of cops open firing on animals and humans*
Very sorry to hear that. May he Rest In Peace.
@@Rico-hb1rz not thousands. You're a liar. Even if it was. You're talking about thousands out of billions if not trillions of police interactions. Sooooo gtfoh
jocko is stating straight facts, this dude is so intelligent and experienced.
Very wise teachings Jocko! Extensive training for rookies and veterans alike. Ring rust is a valid point one that is overlooked.
When Jocko says"Jump", the earth jolts
Prior service Army here. I absolutely agree!
Some departments don't have the funds to train their officers, because some police is underfunded already
You too fam...
Careful, that sounds like common sense!
Man this has been one of the most well spoken and rational responses to this whole thing I've heard... more people need to hear Jocko talk on this
He's being an apologist for cops though. Yeah, they most definitely need more training but there needs to be lots of other reform to stop the power trips, racism, brutality, etc.
Matt Wright you are legitimately stupid.
Matt Wright ummm.... better/more advanced training is reform. Dumb ass.
Everyone forgets tax dollars and minimizing liability are what city's care about. Those are the driving forces behind hiring and polices. It's a balance between cost and performance.
I agree completely. Great points made all around. This is a conversation that should be shared widely and discussed.
fr i've heard so many people on different sides talk about this topic and he's making the most sense
There are good cops , I have a cop from where I am from. He came to a call when someone called for a well being check and I was on probation, he caught me drinking in violation of my probation. He didn't arrest me, he saw all my beer cans and gave me his number and told me I had to stop, get sober and live. He is a good cop , most are bad but he is the best of the sort
I’ve never heard Joe be quiet for so long
David Goggins episode
You've never watched / heard the NDGT episodes?
Rhonda Patrick
He knows its bs . Cops need to be held accountable. Taking care of human life. The little power they are given is going to their head.
Javier437834534 lol, the same could be said for any position of power. Listen to what jocko is saying.
When Jocko was born, the doctor said " Congratulations, it's a MAN "
😂😂😂😂⚡️
😂
Genius. xD
😂🤣😂🤣 holy hell - thats gold!
Rahul poor mans chuck norris
Jocko doesn't sleep. He waits
Amazing clip! As a black American , I have never had a police officer come into the neighborhood and talk to the kids or let us know they are here to serve us !
My grandfather was a police officer from a different time..
He had the job for 30 years and retired in the 80's..
He always said the biggest mistake police ever made was doing away with the village cop who walks around on foot..
He said they would always pick the most popular friendly and outgoing cops to basically work public relations and just get to know people..
Based on his stories law enforcement is a whole different thing now..
He saw it as a public service more like fire dept then..
When he caught drunk drivers he would not only drive them home but arrange to bring their vehicle home for free and only dump out their boose instead of an arrest..
So very different now
I wish Jocko would run for president. This is the type of person needed to run a country
I could not agree more..
A strong, stable, wise person like him?
But you got a little twitter bitch instead lol
The irony of politics
Bill Burr already said the greatest line about the presidency in America. Its something like this, when it gets to a certain level, it doesn't matter which side you're on. You either do what you're told or you get that convertible ride in Dallas.
fr
@jmh30us nobody is perfect, but he comes pretty damn close
Jocko made some solid points. Biggest one being, ongoing police training. Is it a hard job? Yes. Did you sign up for it, yes.
And If you're a PAID professional, licensed to carry a Gun.. you should be held at the highest standard.
That's really what should happen. Higher accountability. Accidental civilian deaths should automatically get 20 years no parole. Whether its 1st 2nd or 3rd degree murder.
Then pay 20% more of your yearly income to taxes specifically to train them, pay them better and recruit better candidates.
Cops in my city make 58k a year. They have plenty of financial compensation to incentivize them to do iust that.
Seen all of this in corrections as well. Training is a must in these professions
Someone should put this Jocko guy in charge of training cops
He used to be a Navy SEAL! That would be awesome!
Use 2 be. He is a seal 4life
For real it should be military experienced people who should join the police force they know how to handle situations like that hands down
Mayra67 Soto yea but military ops usually have ptsd and aren’t mentally stable coming back from war
Get some!
In my job I need to be licensed
Insured and constantly attend classes thru the year to maintain my license...and Im just a bugman
Good point. If each officer had to have some type of liability insurance, it would add another layer of protection...for the public. Can't get insured, can't be a cop. This coupled w more training and giving communities more say in the process are some things to help begin to fix this thing. I think communities having a say in things helps more minorities become a part of the "force" .
This made me laugh but that’s good
Yeah I have to do more just to maintain tech certs, and that isn't even saying much. It's crazy how little training is required after the initial academy shit.
You are amazing bugman!
So you want more classes and safty orientation classes
The amount of training we go through for rules of engagement in a combat zone is astonishing but cops have basically almost free will to fire. They need the same training we go through
I love this guy.
I met him at Flip Hacking Live last year in San Diego he was a guest speaker he makes everything sound so simple and doable. Keep up the good work Joe Rogan and Jaco.
I love his take on building community relationships.
Jk
I like it as well, but it's a half measure.
When you listen, his take is about "identifying bad actors" in the community, but nothing addresses the "bad actor" in a badge
Places across the world have this, literally everyone should hope to implement community relationships so we can stop killing each other for stupid reasons. Guns really need to go too creates and unbalance in a persons mentality
FatTees8314 everything else between better training and psych evaluations addresses the bad character cops
The whole first half of this video is how to address the police actions/reactions.
