  • The G-Project G-Storm AM FM Bluetooth NOAA Weather Alert Emergency Portable Radio is not your typical Survival Information Center. Sporting No Dynamo, or Solar Panel, the Receiver relies on its internal Lithium Battery, and Standard AA Batteries to Stay Running. No Parasitic Drain of a Clock / Alarm will keep the Battery Fresh if charged twice a Year. How is the Reception you ask? Most Excellent :) Cool Display, Powerful Audio, Active Alert Mode, and IPX4 Water Resistant are some of the features I found nice to have.

    Features I like about the G-Style G-Storm:
    Above Average FM Reception.
    Clear Inverted Display.
    Strong, Pleasing Speaker Audio.
    Weather Alert Mode can Stay active While the Radio is Tuned to AM, or FM.
    Decent Three Mode Flashlight.
    Power Bank Feature.
    Above Average NOAA Weather Reception.
    IPX4 Water Resistant.
    Forty Presets, Twenty Per Band.
    Incremental, and Browse Tuning.
    The Ability to Manually Enter Presets.
    Red LED for Alert Mode Status While the Radio is Off.
    Water Resistant AA Battery Compartment.
    AM Reception is Good.
    Features that could be Added or Improved on:
    Ditch the Fixed Carabiner.
    Add a Clock/Alarm Feature. Important during a Power Outage.
    Have the 18650 Replaceable, like the C.Crane CC Radio Solar.
    A Sturdy Dynamo for those who forget to stock batteries.
    Overall, this is a Great Emergency Radio to have on Hand. Just keep Extra batteries for it, in case you don't keep up with the Charge Cycles. Expect excellent audio while you tune the bands, or listen to your favorite Music over Bluetooth. At $34, the price is decent. Save up some Gift Cards, and get one for free :)

    Got one for my son for Christmas. Wasn't sure what to expect fron the radio, suprised it wasn't junk. I would like a longer whip antenna, but it does pretty good with what it has. You can even help along the am signal with a passive loop antenna. I am not sure if my son will use it the way radio enthusiasts would, he liked the gorilla logo lol, but he may clip it on his backpack and hop on his bike... Overall a decent little radio. I have had much higher bar tabs so 35 bucks.. Sure, why not! Thanks Todderbert, another fine video!

    Try looking for the altec lansing storm chaser. You don't see much about it online, but it's an awesome unit. It has am, fm, shortwave, as well as the noaa weather bands with alerts, but not only that it also has Bluetooth, a lantern, a flashlight, and it's solar and crank powered as well as having a long lasting battery, and to top it off it sounds VERY good and even has bass and treble controls. It's the best all in one unit I've ever seen by far and the reception is really good too. I wish it had a longer whip antenna, but it does great with what it has and even pulls in some shortwave which is impressive bc I live in a fringe area where most radios barely pick up anything at all.

    I saw this brand at my local Walmart recently and did not take it seriously whatsoever. I saw the gorilla on the front and thought this must be designed for kids, and that it can't be any good. Based on what I'm seeing here, I am pleasantly shocked by how good this radio is for the money. After not having a very good experience with their ONN brand, Walmart must be stepping up their game with this brand. Thanks for the review.

    I bought one of these radios last year for a work radio. Worked great but within the past few weeks the FM band reception sharply declined and I can't figure out why. All the other bands and bluetooth work great but the FM band seemed to quit working for me.

    I bought one of these last summer to use with FM and bluetooth by the pool. It has great sound and volume for such a small unit, but I noticed that inside, especially on FM and bluetooth, the volume is too loud at level V01 for personal use. V0 is silent, and V1 is too loud. I was wondering if that was the case for all these radios, or if mine is 'different.' Thanks for the review!

    • @vdivanov
      @vdivanov Před rokem +1

      Mine is the same. I think the idea is these are outdoor radios, “Get Out and Play” printed on the box, not a personal one to fall asleep with. Notice the lack of a headphones jack, timers, or alarms. Still, this seems like an oversight, no wonder why the battery doesn’t last as long, though I noticed the display goes out after awhile.

    I could care less about AM/FM features, I just am looking to ensure this is ready to send weather alerts in the middle of the night. So once i have my local weather band set, I shut off the unit and hold down the alert button??? Also, do you know if it will damage the life of the rechargeable batteries if I constantly leave it plugged in overnight? Thank you in advance!!!

    How about tuning steps for FM ? 100 kHz ? But on Midland Weather Radios: 200 kHz steps for FM

      This radio is BT Receive only. Eventually portable radio companies will figure out a way of sending audio data through BT without affecting band reception. Everyone wants this feature on a radio.

    Can you disable the alert function so if you have it on the weather band you don’t hear the siren go off when you receive an alert or is that not an option?

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  Před 9 měsíci +2

      You can just listen to the weather band, when an alert tone comes through the radio it should not activate the siren unless you were in Alert mode.

I’m that kind of girl who is looking for a good Christmas starter but does not want to break her mama’s bank just something to try out you know WX and FM Are going to be two features that if they are done well, would make it a winner for me as I mainly use the radio to keep up with sports and weather radios are one of those things I have been that has fascinated me for a while.
