    There’s a former Pentecostal minister who is black & became Catholic. He explained to his church why he was converting & the whole church converted to Catholicism with him. I think he had been working Catholic teachings into his sermons as he studied Catholicism, & that’s a big part of why the church converted. I can’t remember his name to save my life, but I’ve seen him on EWTN & in Catholic stuff over the years. Unfortunately, I think he died in the last couple of years.

    I was baptized Catholic and attended a Catholic school, but my parents were weak and only went to Mass on Christmas and Easter. My Catholic school was comprised of poor, working class, and middle class kids, and we were racially diverse. Our teachers had high expectations for all of us, not matter what our circumstances, and they treated us all with dignity, taught good virtues, and strong academics along with the Catholic faith. I left Catholic school after 6th grade and fell away from Catholicism for a long time and like Louis, I started to realize that I was substituting politics for religion. I have come back to the Catholic Church fully, and I totally agree with Louis about how the Church does real social justice well. I learned from the examples of my teachers and from the teachings of Jesus that all people should be treated with dignity regardless of socioeconomic status, skin color, or any other superficial category one might dream up.

    Great conversation, thank you for sharing. I am so impressed with converts who have read their way into Catholicism through the early fathers and councils. I know the laziness of my spirit, so God was merciful in making me a cradle Catholic, but these stories have really inspired me to go deeper into the truth and majesty of our Church. So grateful for this podcast!

      “God was merciful in making me a cradle Catholic”, I’m so happy you stuck with it. Many cradle Catholics have fallen away. I’m a convert of 30 years ago. I did so to be united with my husband and my baby son. My reason was practical whether than out of desire for Jesus in the Eucharist and the fullness of faith. Now I see that my reason was weak but my faith has grown stronger and stronger.

    I have a couple of work friends who are Coptic. I am fairly close to one. He is quite sympathetic to Catholicism but I'm not sure he understands the theological differences. He even has a rosary hanging on his rear view mirror. I'm not sure of the differences myself. But given those 21 martyrs of a few years ago I have a warm spot in my heart myself. Great story.

    I just came to the realization that the Catholic Church is the real deal. God sustaining me and leading me to leave Calvinism behind is one of the VERY BEST things God has ever graced me with. Even at the cost of family, friends, etc., I've never felt more COMPLETE! EVERYTHING is different when God is your Rock, and without confusion! Calvinism and their misuse/misinterpretation of Sacramentology was a curse since my fatherless childhood when I wanted to know that I had a Dad. It led me to believe that God truly didn't love me, which is why He didn't see fit to give me a dad. I had a stepfather, but in believing God didn't love me, I didn't believe anyone He put in my life either could OR did, since they were given by a God Whom I thought looked at me like TULIP's L in Calvinism: I wasn't one of the elect, so I was predestined for hell, and was therefore the 'do thou not likewise' example to His chosen people. I lived a life of sin and turmoil, feeling completely hellbound. In hindsight, though, I realized that I always believed in God, and that Jesus was LORD. I didn't understand why I never concluded that God didn't exist or that Christianity was wrong. I maintained a faith in Christ. Why??? Because I was BAPTIZED! Though I wasn't holding onto God, He was holding onto me! He was faithful when I wasn't! Acts 2:38-39. All the literary gymnastics that Calvinists came up with to say that IMMANUEL isn't present in the Sacraments (then publicly blasted me for every sin they could recall for disagreeing with them and trying to show them proof, calling me a "parrot" and an idiot who apparently knows nothing about Scripture, only repeating what I'd heard...while repeating the lies of Calvinism like cockatoos) were crushed under the feet of my Jesus! God meant what He said and said what He meant! I learned this from studying church history , which was referred by a Lutheran, also part of the one, holy, Catholic, Apostolic faith!
    Catholicism, reading the writings of the Apostles and their disciples, the Didache, etc. All I had to do was study church history beyond the Reformation Period. That showed me that not only did Calvinists NOT practice due diligence in historical studies of the church, but they read the Bible, then pick up in the 16th Century and try to connect the entire story minus almost 1500 years after the close of the canon (part of that was left out, too). So to be Sola Scripturists is to say that church history isn't all that important in understanding the faith to the full. That's damnable heresy! Blasphemous! Calvinist/Protestant doctrine takes credit away from God for His work, leans more on Calvin's misunderstandings, and leads people to not believe in God's plainly stated and demonstrated Truth and power. It creates a despair, a lack of understanding of - and a lack of faith in, God's promises.
    Thanks be to the holy LORD Jesus for holding onto me through all my life's fears and tantrums at the thought that I'd be going to hell by design...only to show me the vastness of His tender mercy and unparalleled Grace in Christ Jesus!
    My wife and I were prayed over about 2 months ago, then we're approached by a nun, a Lutheran, and a Catholic priest within one week's time. Since then, my wife has gotten a GREAT job with the Catholic Diocese (great pay AND 90/10 health insurance! 🤯) within walking distance (1.5 miles) of home (our car was just totaled and we worked 5+miles from home before). Now I have an interview with the Diocese for a job as well, and the workplace is right next door to our church, The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church! We're going through catechesis in about a month! God is pulling us in so strongly and quickly that there's no denying His presence! Just one prayer answered after another since confessing Christ in a new light and joining the Catholic Church! Never, in all my life as a Calvinist/Protestant, had the love and presence of God felt so unbelievably strong, ever-present and overwhelmingly evident! And THAT'S how the holy Father designed it! Believe! Doubt not! He's always there! If my faith was half of a mustard seed before, it's at least the size of a Brazil Nut by now! So much more clarity and boldness in my witnessing, and with much more love and urgency than before. God has shown up and shown out so much in 2 months' time that TRUE, TANGIBLE, IMMENSE healing has taken place in my heart! I'll never be the same! I try to invite everyone to church now, and to explain the liturgy to them so they can see the Gospel message through the Mass! The change in my heart is PROFOUND! My double minded nature is being sanctified right out if me, because there's no more confusion and angst to lead to instability, and when I catch myself referring back to an old Calvinists kindest in any way, I immediately repent to the Lord Jesus. What's even better is that the Sacraments are served all over the city at Catholic churches around noon, so I can have the Bread and the Cup EVERY DAY!
    Less of me, dear Savior! MORE OF YOU!
    Catholic = Universal
    Charity =Love
    To say "Catholic Charity" is to say, "God's love in Christ Jesus is for EVERYBODY!" It's shown in their love, respect, and care for ALL PEOPLE, regardless of social economic status, race, religion, etc., and it's the only place I've seen it this strongly! THE FULLNESS OF THE FAITH! I can honestly say that I've never experienced the mercy and grace of the Tribe LORD in such an emphatic and powerful way in my entire life! The FULLNESS of the Faith is here, in the Name of the Father, and if the Son, and of the Holy Spirit! AMEN!

    This is what Protestants get wrong about Catholics. They believe that we are doing charitable works to earn our salvation and fail to realize that our works by faith is because of our salvation. We know that it is through grace and only grace that we are motivated to make acts of charity without expecting NOTHING in return. No recognition no labor pay no self glory, all glory goes to God and none for me. I’ll be honest..the only thing that I’m looking forward in regards to reward are graces.

      NO works of Charity ( GOOD WORKS ) gets you this damnation
      'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.' Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.' Then they will answer and say, oh carp lord but I'm born again and works don't save you you cant work for your salvation👏👏
