  • In an exciting finish last night, Patrick Mahomes rallied Kansas City in the fourth quarter and then threw the game-winning touchdown to Travis Kelce in overtime, outdueling Justin Herbert and leading the Chiefs to a 34-28 road victory over the LA Chargers. Mahomes finished with a season-high 410 passing yards as the Chiefs won their seventh straight game to move into the AFC's No. 1 seed. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe grade Mahomes' performance.

The league has adjusted to him and he had his struggles early on but he's countered that by becoming a technician. That trio of Mahomes, Hill, and Kelce is new and improved. Huge, huge shout-out to Travis Kelce this game with 12 catches for 191 yards including those two long striders he ran!! The attempts on 4th down are useful in two scenarios when you’re behind and need a touch down or when you’re playing against a team with a terrible defense and a phenomenal offense. The Chargers were in the second scenario that being said if you attempt too many of them and fail you put your defense in a terrible situation. On that last play a defense that didn’t see their team waste 12 points would’ve probably gotten the tackle before the first down marker and potentially make a stop but they were far too deflated and exhausted to do it and that cost them the game.

I'm not big on what-if’s. You can't just drop-in one change and expect the rest to be the same. Making a different decision will change everything that would have happened afterwards.
What if the Chargers kicked a FG, then the Chiefs ran down and scored a TD the next drive?
What if Bosa got a safety because the Chiefs started on the 1? Then scored a TD
What if the Chargers scored on 4th?
What if the Chargers stopped the Chiefs after failing on 4th?
The point diff’s are -4, then +2-9[10], then +7, then 0 for the Chargers.
And how do those outcomes change how the rest of the game is played? What-if’s the are good entertainment, but they don’t guarantee that the team would have won if they did something different.
