    That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

      I’m confused here too. Only quotes from selected leaders from as far as 80 years ago are not a solid argument to begin with, and referencing dictatorship, to socialism is again less relevant to the current development of political science.

      @@2ndPigeon That is true for a narrow definition. But as a political buzzword in the mouths of leftists, it means distorting the rewards system to favor the “oppressed.” You are focused on the goal and failing to see the injustice of the means.
      In practical terms, Equity means my employer set government quotas as a higher goal than quality production. I lost training opportunities for tools I needed for my job to minorities who didn’t need those tools. Jobs that fit my training as an engineer went to people who had no training in that field because quotas had to be met (and then I had to fix their work). Same story for promotions. When Obama decimated the industry, non-minorities were the first to be laid off. Because of the timing (the bottom of a recession) a lot of brilliant careers were destroyed.
      Equity goes beyond leveling the playing field. It takes revenge and tilts the field the other way. Reverse discrimination takes a situation where one side is vengeful and makes both side vengeful. Reversing injustice instead of eliminating it multiplies division and animosity.

  • @msmd3295
    @msmd3295 Před 22 dny

    Turek fails to distinguish between “concept” and previous “schemes”. Meaning there’s a huge difference between an idea from actual practice. His claim that socialism/communism has consistently failed is in part a lie or purposeful ignorance. He simply doesn’t examine and separate the Idea from how it’s been implemented historically. There is nothing inherently “wrong” with the ideas of socialism/communism. Where it goes wrong is how the ideas are implemented.
    Take for example Communist China. Right now communism is stomping capitalism in the U.S. And American consumers have helped elevate communist China to a first world military and economic giant. All done out of American individual self-interest. Save a $ and make China stronger and more of a global threat.
    But the fact that China, a communist country politically and economically has been beating American capitalism serves up proof that the two are not mixing oil and water. That socialism/communism can function even within a capitalist economy. It just depends on how socialism/communism is implemented. And the past failure of the USSR is not an inevitable consequence of socialism/communism.
    Why the religious is so opposed to socialism/communism is because those two political system take some power away from individuals to benefit only themselves. Which is the highest ideal of capitalism, self-interest. But at some point self-interest becomes self-defeating because it sets no limits upon the activities of individuals in order to attain wealth and power. Whereas, in China people are not permitted to do harm to their own nation. The Chinese society in other words is more important than self-interest. And a society that has common goals is likely to be a long-term survivor.

    • @rmike298
      @rmike298 Před 21 dnem +1

      The Scandinavian countries aren’t socialist. They have representative republics, much like the U.S. For the most part, they adopted a capitalist type system in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s and then established a lot of new social programs in the 70’s, having achieved great wealth through capitalism. They expanded those programs for a couple decades, and then have largely tightened them up (imposed tighter restrictions) since then to keep them from growing too much.
      China was really a poverty stricken nation until they began allowing for some capitalism the last 30-ish years. It’s a brand of capitalism where only a few succeed, but enough to produce great wealth for them.
      We are not unlike the Scandinavian countries. We just haven’t installed the degree of social programs they have. But we are a much larger, more diverse, more spread out country, so it would be nearly impossible to do so.

      Frank has absolutely no clue what socialism is. If he respected his audience at all he would have done some research to know that every major economy on the planet is a mixture of socialism and capitalism. We call them mixed economies.

    Who is proposing socialism?
    Having good and essential social services is not socialism.
    Stalinism is not socialism.
    If your platform is preaching the Gospel, stick to that.

      College professors, their infantile "students", some western governmental-office-holders, entertainers, and ivory-tower "intellectuals" are proposing socialism.
      Those people don't want "good and essential social services"; they want to feel intellectually and "morally" superior.
      "Stalinism" was actually more successful than socialism, as it was neither limp-in-the-wrists nor utterly unrealistic.
      We'll preach against the evil and empty-cranium-ness of Marxist "thinking" if we want to.
