      Yes I recommend this. It will work well with your tv and connect via hdmi arc which will give you control of the amp through your tv. Also you can use it to play music with your tv off.

    • @Ryebanana
      @Ryebanana Před 5 lety +2

      In this setup nothing. There's no difference as Sonos doesn't handle the higher res audio that hdmi provides.
      In a proper AV setup HDMI arc lets you send a say Blu-ray player signal to the TV and have the audio come back through the same hdmi cable.

      @AO17 Před 4 lety

      @@jorgeluisfernandez2560 One HDMI cable goes to your TV (the input on the back/side that reads ARC). Connect the other end to HDMI Out on your receiver. Grab another HDMI cable for your Bluray, choose one of the HDMI input ports on the back of the receiver to connect your bluray player.
      Change your TV's input to which ever ARC is on. Then do the same for your receiver by cycling through the input selector until you reach the source associated with your Bluray player.

    • @TheHeavyend81
      @TheHeavyend81 Před 3 lety

      @@Ryebanana Wrong !. The very simple answer is that it allows you to control the volume of the whole system using your TV remote (CEC). The only audio this amp does not handle is Dolby Atmos and DTS. Everything else is ok. HDMI arc has nothing whatsoever to do with a Blu-ray player. Sonos ARC however does handle Dolby Atmos.

      @@TheShazMC22 And a real cack way of doing it. The way Sonos connect 4 passive speakers is like something we used to do in the early days of hi-fi in the 70's and pretend we had a full surround or quad system. One day Sonos will just about get it right. If you stick strictly within their Eco system, a bit like Bose then you are ok otherwise branch out for true home cinema to either a decent soundbar setup (yuk) or a Dolby Atmos system (only if it is wife friendly though).

  • @Juzzy007
    @Juzzy007 Před 4 lety

    Connecting 4 speakers like that does NOT provide true stereo. Fronts and rears should be powered and controlled separately, so that the true surround sound can be experienced.
    Can't believe you sat the front of the new amp on the floor without a cloth!

    • @TellyDan

      Stereo is left and right channel. Surround is multiple independent channels

  • @LeeLucas
    @LeeLucas Před 5 lety +2

    Quite an expensive box and no doubt this is not something that can deliver 5.1 either but merely a 4.1 system that tries to do a good job the wireless way. Though if I am not mistaken you now have the speakers wired instead apart from the Sub. Deffo not for a surround freak like myself who has been into AV Systems since surround sound started in 1994 and HiFi Stereo since 1970. My guess is that this Sonos is not even capable of delivering the HD Lossless Audio formats via the ARC HDMI either and you do not get a lot for the bucks here at all. Still no doubt I bet it sounds good though and is better than a Soundbar which is something I personally would never use.
    Though you certainly made a lot of work having all the speakers in the ceiling I will say and that would not suit my ears having them all in the ceiling either, especially for speaker placement which for me is extremely important. I myself have a couple of ceiling speakers which I had to mount in the ceiling when I switched from 5.1 to 7.1 well over a decade ago now, and had to have them in the ceiling to keep the wife happy cause she was fed up of all the speakers all over the place :))))).
    I even had to dig out 2 inch channels from the floor up to where my speakers are located on the walls through the 5 inch reinforced concrete walls that are in my living room plus the for the backplate boxes for the speaker sockets and the main controller socket I had to set that 4 inches into the concrete wall just to keep her happy, and hide all the speaker wires. I fed all the speaker cable through 1 inch round trunking I fitted in the walls and even channelled them in the concrete floor from one side of the room to the other. It took me a good week to do the job and cost me over £400 in materials including the speaker sockets and the main junction socket that has all 14 speaker cables wired to it. I have speaker cables running through my walls, ceiling and floor and I am glad I have not got to do all that over again and I literally channelled through the concrete walls with a 1 inch wood chisel and a lump hammer and only occasionally did I use a drill LOL. You done a GREAT job here though I will say....

    • @TellyDan
      @TellyDan  Před 5 lety +1

      Jeez you work hard Lee. You should have made a step by step of your install. I'm like you I prefer a 5.1 at least sound system. This install was done to suit the customers wide lol. The sonos amp is intended as a stereo system. Sono is good for simplicity more than anything I think. I did do recently a 7.4.1 atmos install consisting of 4 floor standing and 4 ceiling with one in wall LCR which was awesome. Theres always a balance with everyone to compromise between sound quality and minimalism. Thanks for the support mate.
