1:13 Fighters Destiny 2
17:33 Martial Masters
32:45 FU'UN Super Combo
55:23 World Heroes Perfect
1:18:20 Maximum Impact 2/ KOF 2006
You're welcome
Love how in the early 90s there was a fighting game with people from all over the world called Fighters History, & a fighting game about people from throughout history called World Heroes, like someone swapped the names around
Let me tell you: This random Pizza Hut that was in the neighborhood when I lived in California had to have the most keyed in owner when it came to fighting games, because not only did It have a random Martial Masters cabinet, but in 1995 it would also be the first time I ever saw Darkstalkers!
Maximum Impact had its charms, I'll give it that
The announcer sounding drunk is one of them.
'Boing! Boing!'
The Maximum Impact games are my favorite KoF games
Plenty of content to grind for offline players, JP-only online, janky balance...
Yep, MI2's the antithesis of your average modern fighting game.
I played KOF MI2 way more than actual classic fighting games, because it's jam packed with content. It didn't matter that every hit turned the game into a pinball simulator, or that some characters had 600 specials while others only had counter supers. You could try to find the endless special intros, the insane minigames, challenges, enormous bios and get all the costumes... so much to distract you from how it plays like dogass.
Oh god!.... The endless special intros were to die for! Everytime I play it, even to this day, I always discover some new intro from characters that I wasn't even expecting an intro for. Party Mode had to be one of the most fun modes I'd ever played in a fighting game too. Used to spend hours playing that mode with friends in highschool. So many costumes as well and a lot of them were references to things that weren't even SNK related like the Jason Voorhees ones for Duke. Now I'm gonna have to put that one in again and play for like 4 hours.
Fighter Destiny was a great technical game. Part 2 was just as good. Wish it had more personality.
Maximum Impact is so good, there's something about it's combo system that is pretty enjoyable
It's very satisfying to pull off. The sound effects are so crunchy in a good way!
Here's a fun fact about Jeanne D'Arc (World Heroes): she's the OG sword whip wielder of fighting games. I always thought it was Ivy (Soul Calibur). I guess I was wrong.
Kim Dragon is the OG fighting game Bruce Lee clone, and Geegus is the OG shapeshifting boss as well.
1:39:10 Jivatma apparently admits that they actually are an alien in some of the endings.
Another ending has Jivatma notice that Luisa, who is apparently also revealed to be an alien, was showing interest in the brothers' abilities so Jivatma abducts the other brother.
It was also teased that Soiree and Alba are alien experiments, and possibly one person separated in two. For what I remember, Jivatma would refer to both by the same name, Judeim.
Fun fact Kizuna encounter Is in the same universe that Fatal Fury taking place many decades after the series, tales place in a renamed SouthTown and it's mentioned that Chung (the old Man) have a cap that was given by "The legendary Hungry Wolf" and people use to joke that Is a old Rock Howard
Would it also be possible that Chung is a descendant of Tung Fu Rue? That feels way more likely than Rock Howard, lol.
I love Luise Meyrink is in the thumbnail she's awesome. I wish SNK put her in a future King Of Fighters game.
*She was a fairy* 🦋
If I ever suggested Fighter's Destiny for The Worst Fighting Game, it was because I knew it was a diamond in the rough and just wanted you to cover it so more would know of it.
Also, fun fact:for Spanish Class in high school, we had to do a video report about a a famous Spanish matador who was gored to death. We set it up as a Jerry Springer parody, but when the time came for the matador and bull to fight, we switched over to Fighter's Destiny footage of the bull character versus the matador character.
55:47 World Heroes Perfect is one of my favorites too, Matt.
Plus, I agree with McMuscles: Perfect is the KOF 98 of the World Heroes series.
I FUCKING LOVE the Crymetina Critiques Maximum Impact 2 video, her reaction to Nagase's alt outfit is priceless
The jiggle physics in Maximum Impact are nuts 😆.
We had a arcade attached to a video rental store back in the late 90s called Movies Movies Movies that I frequented as often as I could with a 2 cart Neo Geo cabinet. There was a few games on rotation one of which was World Heroes Perfect. Super fun game. (For those curious, the other games on rotation that I remember was Samurai Showdown II, Metal Slug, and Puzzle Bobble
I loved Fighter's Destiny 2 as a kid. I never got to play it much, but one of my friends had it and it's all I wanted to play.
IGS still exists, you should at least buy the collection so they can fix the sound via patch and know there's still an audience for thier older titles
I loved Maximum Impact 2 cutscenes, also I spent hours upon hours playing the game unlocking characters, costumes, and colors. I also used Armor Ralph alot to cheese my way through the challenges.
Chae Lim would have been better to have on Kim's team in KoFXIV than freaking Gang Ill.
Fighter Destiny mentioned!!!!
35:23 that guy is master roshi!!
Nice taste there. Hey Matt, did you know we can finally play FOUR PLAYER Kizuna Encounter? Originally, two neo geo cabs could be linked to play 4 player tag. Now it can be done with emulation to unlock the "Special version"
Some of my low-key fighters besides Kizuna:
- Samurai Shodown V Special: I wish more youtubers could explore in detail the AMAZING mechanics this games has. Easily the fighting game with more defensive options ever. The "concentration-slow time" mechanic makes every fight different.
- Bushido Blade 2
- Psychic Force 2, the ps1 version, not the dreamcast 2012 sequel: I don't why I love this version more. Has a lot of modes, easy controls and a kickass opening song by kageyama
- Real Bout Dominated Mind: EXCELLENT combo system, super cancels, PARRIES, etc. Totally different game than the neo geo special game
- Double Dragon neo geo
- ADVANCE VARIABLE GEO 2: THIS FUCKING GAME. I think I like it more than street fighter alpha. There I said it.
- Asuka 120% Limited
- Astra Super Stars, the sequel to Waku Waku 7: I like Waku waku more, but this game is also super fun
Two fireballs could be interesting if you could combo them. Launch the charge projectile and cancel it into the quarter circle projectile and choose a speed separately for both.
I remember Fighters Destiny mainly for the ability to add to your fighters moveset, and the brutal AI of the Joker character if you got to fight it. Although I did eventually unlock that character I don't remember how.
I love the two Maximum Impact games there so fun
As far as a fighting game sequel being worst than the original I’d say Battle Arena Toshinden could arguably fit that description. I always felt BAT 1 felt better and even looked better. In fact it could be argued that the first game is literally the best game in the series.
I still have Fighter's Destiny. A friend from my childhood had it, brung it to my house and we'd play it together. When his N64 broke, he gave me the game. I love the fighting system, the unique point system and the announcer. The game could be unbalanced at times, but damn it was fun and memorable. I wish more fighting games had a similarly unique point system. It helps add tension to every match.
And the Maximum Impact games are my favorite KoF games. I wish more fighting games would take chances and go 3D these days. I'm kinda tired of 2D fighters
World Heroes was very "special"... Rasputin had some strange "moves". 😅
I was just researching Fighters Destiny yesterday, haha. So much fun as a kid.
Fighters Destiny had an interesting defensive mechanic which was basically a dodge stance. If you held down the button you auto-dodged high and low strikes. I forget if it dodged mids, and if you were thrown while in that stance you couldn't break the throw so that was the risk of using it to avoid hits.
It doesn't block mids while high and low blocks did
Savage Reign and Kizuna Encounter were my shit back in the day. These two games are in my most underrated fighting game series (is 2 games for each enough to call them series?) alongside Rival Schools and Project Justice.
Love Fighters Destiny, even 2 despite it mostly being skin swaps.
It's obviously not the best entry but I have a soft spot for Maximum Impact 2.
I am very interested in Martial Masters.
For fighter's destiny, hold the L button for the dodgy/jumpy stuff at 4:15. And yeah, Fighter Destiny 2 while it had some new moves to gain in the master mode, there were some moves that DIDN'T RETURN! which is insane. You did at least get to have up to 3-4 different finishers on some characters though.
Like, hear my out Matt. So, the first game allowed you a max of 8 moves in master mode, but there were around...I think 10-11 possible moves you could learn, and via multiplayer with 2 memory cards, you could yoink a move you don't have from your opponent to have NINE new moves. Your 2nd finisher was otherwise learned by beating the game with a character (Except for Boro and other boss characters)
So, while you have a similar situation in Fighter Destiny 2, win the game for another finisher, master mode to learn 8 new moves, if I remember correctly, they actually gave like...1 or 2 extra moves to characters...and sometimes even took away 1-2 moves from characters which is odd. And in terms of the moves you could learn, they were somewhat new for the most part and sometimes not as impactful/useful as fighter's destiny 1, but you also could unlock another finisher in master mode (like Not Ryuji, Saeki, getting spinning jumping overhead punch which made it a bit too easy to get a kill on stunned opponents trying to back away to safety)
I agree. Kizuna Encounter is awesome! I super love it.
Fighter's Destiny was really fun. I can understand being disappointed with the sequel, but it was still a good game too.
I'm pretty sure that the voice announcer that was later used in Capcom VS SNK 1 & 2.
Edit: Regarding Neo Dio; I find it interesting that they decided to take a Osamu Tezuka character from hi Baoh Manga and then rename the character after his other Manga's antagonist Dio.
Baoh was made by Araki, not Tezuka
@@daranyillh6446 Odd, I could have sworn it was Tezuka.
@@vguyver2 yeah it's the series Araki did directly before Jojo, Baoh's even in the big Jojo fighting game that got a rerelease a little while back
@@daranyillh6446Reminds me of when they put Arale in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
34:42 im pretty sure this guy appears as a background character in one of KOF 2002 stages
Martial Masters does feel like a what if Capcom made Last Blade 2. Heck, True Lotus Master almost feels like a reskin of Orochi from KoF '97
Fighter destiny looks super fun, Imagine that game in the switch with online multiplayer 😲
Tekken 4 was a big disappointment after Tekken 3 personally but yeah, it was still a decent game all the same!
I love the occasional teasing of Sega Lord X and his love for parallax scrolling
Kizuna Encounter is always fun to watch, so thanks for the gameplay of it. It has such odd tag mechanics, but those big Neo Geo sprites will always be timeless
Shaolin Vs Wu Tang is the game I think you're thinking of
I guess it doesn't really qualify as a full-on 'fighting game' persay, since it's a beat-em-up, but I think most people agree that Double Dragon 3 isn't quite up to snuff compared to its prequels.
SNK should bring back Lien at this point
Now i have something to watch for the next two hours 🎉
The problem with the PGM emulation wasn't that it was advanced graphics, it's pretty much a mvs with a few changes, but the encryption and the security meseaures they took
It still sucks Fighters Destiny 2 didn't make it to the UK 😢
Fighter's Destiny deserves all the love it gets!!! Such a pleasure seeing new videos of it pop up!
As per usual, thank you for putting a name to some crazy ass game my brother brought home from blockbuster. He went to college and brought home the 64 and some new treasure each weekend. Whoever commented that should go fist themselves
32:20 never played that game, but "Super Combo" is one cool name. every duology should be called Super Combo.
edit: actually i have played a version of the first game once.
I see Kizuna Encounter and remember, its sold on its own alongside its cousin, Savage Reign, also being sold on its own.
@21:15 *Matt sees a Rising Tackle variant*
"Wow!! That was a pretty cool attack!!"
30:45
They literally had the ending be like the end of a kung fu movie, where they go to credits the instant they kill the main villian
Given the state of most falcoon OCs, Jivatma isn't THAT bad - I know it's an underhand compliment lol but he's at least got kinda something going on - duke was just an absolute nothing burger tho. I love maximum impact tho - having a bunch of characters and costumes to unlocks hits something primal in my brain, plus the gameplay is really just kinda loose - whilst I'd hardly call it anything special, it just flows nicely - fast food like you say, just real comfy for me. 😊
My top 5 Guilty Pleasure games are
World Heroes Perfect
Kizuna Encounter
Ninja Masters
SVC Chaos
Clayfighter 33 1/3.
Tell me why the ending theme for Fighter’s Destiny starting playing,I thought Man in the Mirror was gonna play out
I'm really interested in the personality differences that affect what characters in fighting games you select. As a twelve year-old, I would never ever just pick the default Main Character Dude. That felt really boring. But there were other kids, and it seems we're watching one, who just usually went for the cool main guy. (I think it is not a coincidence that I have always been terrible at fighting games, while the people who choose the boring characters get good, but I don't think that's why people gravitate in one direction or another at first.)
I wish KOFXV ended with a Team Maximum Impact. Though who would comprise it?
Alba, Soiree, and Luise of course, I been wanting this team in the mainline games for a while.
I like how in fighters destiny you can actually watch them fall to their death in a ring out 😂
The Maximum Impact games are so aggressively mid-2000's and I love that
Hope to see you play "Toukiden Angel Eyes" someday. I think you'd get a kick out of the 2d and 3d characters in one game
Fighters Destiny impressed me hugely in this. I loved how the match progression is set where throws, specials, etc count as points.
Lol I'd love for a remake of this game
yesss love watching matt play fighting games. also play initial D on ps2 i beg
Blocken wasn't a ripoff of M. Bison. Blocken was based on Brockenman and his son Brocken Jr. from Kinnikuman with bits of Stroheim from Jojo Part 2. It's highly likely that M. Bison was also based on those characters.
Btw he's not the only character in WH who was based on a manga/anime character. Zeus was based on Raoh from Fist of the North Star and Dio/Neo-Dio was based on Baoh (from a manga of the same name that Araki made before Jojo).
Oh yeah you wanna know Jivatma's lore? He's actually an alien parasite from another planet who possessed an Indonesian man. Also Luise herself is also an alien (IIRC from a rival alien race to Jivatma's) and the Meira brothers were actually one man who was split into two (who was also an alien). Yeah the MI series's lore is damn weird as fuck.
Fighter's Destiny is legit one of my favourite 3D fighters, and I'm still convinced that if it had a more defined aesthetic and was multi-platform, it would have carved a nice niche for itself.
FIGHTERS DESTINY!!!
I honestly thought I'd made up that game. I knew I'd played it, but couldn't for the fucking life of me remember what it was called or how I'd played it. If you'd have put a gun to my head, I wouldn't have guessed it was on the N64 (I'm now recollecting that we rented it and played it over a weekend, haha, it's all coming back to me).
Totally makes sense why I couldn't find out what it was, I just presumed it was on the PlayStation or that I'd actually imagined it.
I saw Fighter's Destiny and decided on that alone to deem you cool with a secondary accolade of based.
Did they for real MISSPELL True Lotus Master as Ture?!
Yes, they probably didn't have any native English speakers checking over stuff.
Bushido Blade 2 is another game that wasn’t bad but just was a bit disappointing after such a cool first game
I loved Fighter's Destiny as a baby and ended up giving it away for stupid reasons that I regret. As I recall, Abdul had a move where he waved his head around, said something along the lines of "Nans damu!" and then headbutted his opponent, which did a great deal of damage. So I attempted to do it whenever possible, and then complained whenever it didn't hit because I was attempting to do a slow heavy move to a fast opponent who was not in any way inconvenienced.
I can’t believe Marshall Mathers had a game named after him
I love playing Maximum Impact Maniax on Xbox. Also FIGHTER'S DESTINY THE GOAT
no ex plus alpha of any kind has left me stunned and dismayed
Well, I mean, those games are fine. But they are definitely not low key favorites.
@@flophouseplays simply stunned and dismayed (aaaaaam joking, aaaaaam joking)
Wikipedia says Falcoon is currently working at SNK Entertainment.
But it's possible it's just the last known place he worked at and wasn't modified because no one have any confirmation that he isn't still there.
Fatal Fury & AoF is come back! so it's about time KOF:MI could come back too!
Loved Fighter Destiny, spending days to unlock Joker was a nightmare.
I will go to the grave with my precious Martial Masters cart. SUCH an underrated masterpiece!
I remember Cherry being a menace and that one lady that went 🎶 oooooo la la LAAAA 🎶
Admit it Matt, the only reason that KOF 2006/Maximum Impact 2 is a low-key favorite fighting game is because of Terry's "Jesus" and "Shit" quotes XD. Wait, was it this game or the first Maximum Impact game that had those Terry quotes?
i feel like i would be SO much more positive on Maximum Impact if it was 3v3 and didn't have the english voice acting ever. also if the lien neville shooters weren't PSYCHOTIC
Emphasis on 3v3 because that’s not the main game mode… even though that’s an option. At least Regulation A fixed that.
Clayfighter 2, but the bar is already low as it is. But you’re right, even Rise 2 was at least playable
I would love to see Fighter's Destiny played at a high level. :D
Martial Masters is a game that I wish had more exposure. I never even knew about it until maybe couple of years ago. Ninja Master's is another one I think deserves more loves.
Fighters Destiny is one of those games my buddy and I rented in high school simply because it was a new fighting game. Turned out to be pretty good.
Excellent choices, I have to say Maximum Impact 2 is one of my top favs. I just really like the game, it hit right.
Now this is not one to check out for a low key fav persay but with Fighter's Destiny and Imagineer.... Imagineer is responsible for Pretty Fighter and Pretty Fighter X. They're also responsible for what I would consider a worst game contender FIST. There's a Playstation and Sega Saturn version. Playstation version has the looks but no game play and the Sega Saturn version looks ugly but actually has control. It's so odd.
Clicked because I saw Fighters Destiny in the thumbnail and was rewarded immediately 🙌
How bout Flying Dragon on the N64
Yup Martial masters is on fightcade
The hell is wrong with people asking for Fighters' Destiny for TWFG? That game is so FIRE
Imagine a world heroes kof team tho 😳
Love your channel
@1:24:50 "Japan's best" is suppoed to be what "me bointy!" is... "nippon ichi"!
Clay Fighters 2 might be worse than Clay Fighters 1, but that's not to imply that Clay Fighters 1 was good.
Martial Masters is the unofficial Once Upon a Time in China fighting game 😂
I LOOOOOVED Fighter’s Destiny.
That observation room theme from fighters destiny is PEAK
Daaaaaamn you Mr. McMuscles! I was desperately trying to find you during EVO! Ran into Justin Wong a couple of times and he probably thinks i’m some stalker constantly trying to find you!
I just want more people to talk about Flying Dragon on the 64!
I just suscribed, GREETINGS from México
