How is beatboxing and vocal experimentation helping young people communicate?
Reeps One travels to the Lavelle School for the Blind in the Bronx, New York, an educational institution for children with visual and other developmental disorders.
A new course has been introduced using beatboxing to unlock young people’s potential. You will be amazed with the results.
The We Speak Music documentary is presented by Nokia Bell Labs and was produced by Lonelyleap.

Thank you Reeps for sharing the work that Mark and I are so passionate about. The potential for beatboxing is so so much more than battle. The battle is just a place for us to hone our skills. To be a true champion for the art form you need to keep fighting for, not against, our community after you have left the stage. I am so excited to see how we can utilize beatboxing to change the world.

I just saw Mark’s TED Talk and then this came out! You guys are blowing my mind! I was interested in linguistics and phonetics in college and considered speech therapy. That said, I’m curious as to what first steered you to think to use beatboxing like this?
I watch so much beatboxing had no clue you were doing this so great so moving to see this
This video made me very emotionnal, literally tears in my eyes. I think beatboxing became a drug for me. But then, when I watch this, I realise it is, in fact, way more than that. Beatbox isn't totally defined, and this, is beautiful. Love to the community.

I didn't like Kaila and Mark much before, probably just judging by their stage presence and persona. But you gotta give your biggest respect to what they do and how they are off stage. Mark's ted talk was AMAZING btw, such a great speaker. This episode was beautiful.
MrJeng300 I think it funny how mark and I became the most hated people in the community. Everyone truly thought that they knew who we were by just watching a few videos of a battle. I really hope this opens our communities mind to not passing judgements about others in the art form. You never really know someone until you meet them. We need to respect eachother for our art form to grow! Much respect to you.

For years I battled depression ,anxiety and suicidal thoughts... I also have ADD so focusing on things is weird for me. Now I have always beatboxed from a young age but never thought of it as a way to progress and use as a form of creativity expression but a few years ago I started to use it in that very way and opened my eyes up properly to the world of beatboxing I’ve been addicted ever since and I firmly believe it has become apart of my life and that I probably would not have found a way to express myself without it... who knows where I would be without it... if you have anything thing that helps you express creativity and makes you a happier person DO IT and don’t be afraid of what others think...

This really is beautiful. Growing up I was always challenged developmentally, I have Asperger's, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and many other things. I was always different and always had a hard time communicating with my friends. In 2012 during middle school I was being bullied, and I started beatboxing as a creative outlet. I'm so thankful that I discovered this artform, it's really helped me communicate better and cope with the things I've struggled with. This, just seeing this really makes me happy to see that other people are learning to communicate with beatboxing. Thank you Reeps One and thank you Swissbeatbox. ❤️❤️
