It works! After months of frustration, we were just about to buy a new washer until I tried this fix last night (6/30/2023). I drilled 8 holes into the top plastic skirt of the drum just as the video shows. Sure enough, water poured out of each hole after drilling. The water had been trapped due to it crystalizing after 5 years of heavy use and was no longer able to drain out of the designed drainage slots. Apparently, there must be a balancing sensor monitoring the moisture in this plastic skirt. It can provide false readings when water stays trapped in it. Who would have known? I tried replacing the computer board and all 4 suspension rods and none of that worked but this fix did it! Thanks!
Thank you for this video. Just ran a full load with no errors for the first time in weeks. My wife and wallet are happy, and I get to be a hero for the night, lol.
You are brilliant ! My husband drilled the holes, drained the water and it works like new. I was very upset. In 2014 we did a major renovation on our home and bought new. Washer ,dryer, fridge, oven, dishwasher and microwave. To date we have had problems with every one of them except the microwave. I would never spend money on any Samsung product again. Their customer service is a joke as is their products !! At least my washer is back to normal ! Thanks again !
DO NOT WAIT to do this fix!! It works!!! I threw in sheets and towels, which have been piling up for a month or more because of how much I have been dreading using this stupid machine and it worked! I almost cried! As others suggested run an empty spin cycle before this, or just spun it manually for a bit until all the water comes out. Thank you so much! You saved me so much money and grief! Life changing!!!
This totally worked!!! I would have to readjust the clothes every spin cycle to keep my washer from banging and clanging. Now it's perfectly quiet. Thank you for posting this valuable informative video.
Thank you for sharing your video! We were having this same spinning issue and tried several fixes ourselves. We weren't going to spend the money to fix because it was going to cost almost $600 so we had nothing to lose by trying this. We were looking to buy another washer if we couldn't fit it ourselves, you saved us a bundle! and the satisfaction of fixing it ourselves is definitely a bonus, made my day!
I signed into CZcams just to leave this comment. I have a whirlpool washer that is a similar design, I would have already purchased a new machine but they have gotten very expensive with inflation. My machine has four pads, one on each interior surface, you can feel for them if you move the tub to the side a little. The first fix i was suggested said to check these and one was missing, so I replaced all the pads with something more robust which fixed the vibration problem, but only for a few cycles. Then I saw this video and figured why not...it worked for mine too, SO grateful. Thank you! And if you try this fix and it doesn't work, check those pads because they help to center the Tub when the spin first starts.
I had this problem with our Samsung washer, which was only a year old. It kept getting worse and worse until the machine became unusable a couple of days ago. I could not figure it out. Nothing made sense! But I drilled around the rim as you suggested. Water POURED OUT of every hole I drilled. Next wash, no problem. You saved me a minimum of several hundred dollars, and probably the cost of a new machine (about $800). Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
What a great video my friend!!! After changing the rods, calibrating the washer, leveling and removing the loads for almost a week, finally we were able to do laundry after this simple hack. I did notice the water at the top of the drum but I couldn't find a way to flush it. It's hard to imagine that with all the engineers working in the design of this machine, no one could prevent this issue. I guess they're just thinking about taking our money from our pockets.
I had chosen a new washer and was getting ready to leave to go to Lowes! I decided to check UTube to see if this issue was out there and it was. I completed these simple instructions and it freaking works just like you said. I thought why not try this, I have nothing to loose. I am so happy!! Thank you for posting this fix!! Saved me $625.00!!! Yahoo!!
So why in the world does Samsung not acknowledge that this a major problem with their washing machines? I will never buy another Samsung appliance again. This did work for mine but will buy another brand next time.
You are God sent dear, my washer is fixed and it’s been broke for a month. I can never say thank you enough, I was going crazy with this none spinning, leaving clothes wet, banging washer. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking out the time to record this video to help people like myself. You’re amazing
Was super skeptical of this at first. Tried other, more difficult, time consuming fixes first. Did this and it worked. Did have to run it twice first though, I'm guessing to get the remnants of water out. THANK YOU!
I am in disbelief how this worked so easily. I ran across this answer a year ago but thought, "Yeah, right..." At that time I stuffed pillows in each corner of the machine, which worked - for a while. I saw this video again and decided I had nothing to lose. I only made four holes in the underside of the ring and tried it out on spin cycle. At first I thought it didn't work because the machine was not moving at all then I touched it and could feel it was spinning like a top! This works! And I still have two of the four pillows I couldn't find again stuffed inside there somewhere! Thank you!
Thank you! I did three holes where there was punch tab like marks. Water came out. I did one spin cycle empty. There was a large amount of salt crystals. Started my next load. Problem solved. Many blessings to you. You saved us from spending money and daily frustrations!
this procedure worked amazingly!! I drilled 8 holes and then a few extras to get all the water out. The washer has been running perfect and smooth.!! Thanks for the video!!
I too was hesitant to start drilling holes in my new washing machine, but after 5 long nightmarish months I did it - IT ABSOLUTELY WORKED! Thank you!!!!
After changing the rods and putting rubber pads on the feets, we still have the out of balance problem. About to give up and buy a new wasger. Tried this fix. This worked. First I drilled 4 holes, even spaced. Some water came out. Shook the drum and felt there were water still inside. Drilled 4 more. Water still inside. Seems to have multiple "compartments". Finally, drilled a few holes. Total may be 12 holes. I did a SPIN cycle for a minute to spin out the water. . Then stopped the cycle. Calibrate the washer. Then I did two small loads of bath towels that had been giving us out of balance error. Both washes went through. Thank you. Update: 10+ loads later. No out of balance error. We will skip the labor day appliance sale this year.
Confirmed. This works. I was skeptical, but it worked like a charm. When I felt the underside of the drum lip, it seems that our Samsung washer actually had 3 punch tabs/pilots to drill through. I drilled those out with a 3/16" bit, then added 3 more holes evenly spaced between them. Shook the drum around a bit to let the water drain out and it has been in balance ever since. Thank you!
I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH BROTHER! All my hacks stopped working to stop my dumb washer from going out of balance Your trick works like a magic wand. I was an hour away from ordering another washer (definitely never a samsung) and you saved my hard earned money i can only wish you a happy and healthy life from here. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work !
OMG!!!. I had given up on washer so I ordered set of dampers($134)but after seeing this AMAZING video I quickly went back to store to get my refund. It's TRUE y'all, this really works try it 1st b4 doing anything else.. 5stars
It worked. I'm thrilled and amazed. I immediately washed a load of towels to test it. No error code, no off-balance knocking. I don't know how long this fix will work, but, for now, I am thrilled. THANK YOU!!!
Appears to have worked for me. Thank you. I’ve spent more than an enough hours trying to balance this thing and I know I’m not that dumb. This was the solution.
I tried all the other fixes out there with my Samsung. Was about to throw it away and buy new. Then came across this video. Thought what the heck might as well give it a go. There wasn't much water in mine I'm guess it has mostly evaporated over time and why it was unbalanced. No more balance issues. Thank you!
I can't believe this worked... Thank you so much for posting this video. I'm also shocked that no one else has posted a similar video like ithis one. I drilled the 8 holes and have been washing clothes once again.
@@steveb6163 the dates are off I think. It was much more than 2 years ago. Worked great for years until our niece that was living with us bought us a new machine for Christmas.
Girl i am at this point now i hot a samsung first one. I saw one fix to put a rubber hose arou d the spring cause they weak helped aome but did not fix so now i am going to drill. I will never buy another samsung ever again
I know this video is 4 years old, but I was having this issue and drilled the holes as suggested and now my washer is working like its supposed to. We will have a new one at the new place we are moving into soon so I just needed to polish this turd for a little longer and now its working like a brand new machine. Thank you! This saved me a bunch of money and time.
Pretty sure this video just saved me hundreds. I was getting ready to replace my p.o.s. Samsung because I had already tried everything to get it spinning again and decided to drill the holes because I had nothing else to lose. Now I have done a couple loads and it's spinning out without problem. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks so much for your video ! I have this machine for about ten years and I had this issue so many times I lost count , today I decided yet to do another search and came across your video and tried your idea , it works like it never did before, Thank you from me and my happy wife.
Absolutely worked for me! My Samsung had three tabs underneath the rim of the drum so I drilled my holes there. Two rinse cycles later, no more banging. Two full wash cycles later, I don't have anymore issues with the washer being out of balance. I recommend trying it before any other options as I don't see any downside. Thanks for posting this.
I never comment on videos, but today is the day folks. It was to the point that it would take us all day to do a load of laundry with the number of times we would have to resituate the clothes before the load would finish, due to the wash being out of balance. Ultimately, we would wind up having to take most of the items out leaving let's say 5 small items in the load for it to finish. Ridiculous! Fast forward to today, we tried this fix and have successfully washed 2 loads of laundry without a problem. Since we really had nothing to lose, we pushed it with our 2 test loads. The 1st was a load of towels, and the 2nd a full washer worth of sheets. My husband and I have been laughing all day about "the things that make you happy as an adult." This video saved us hundreds of dollars. We are so glad we found it! (We did run an empty cycle first to get rid of the excess water as others suggested below).
Wow!!! I can't believe it but it worked!!!! My washer is only 1.5 years old when this issue began, and I was about to spend money on parts to try and fix it when I came across this video, and thank god I did. Thank you very much kind sir!!!!
Came here just to say the same… amazing how it works! Got just a bit concerned at first but after drilling one hole and seeing water pouring out I had no more doubts. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thank you so much for this. My washer has been out of balance for months and this did the trick. My husband was about to call a repair guy too. I literally was able to do this fix in 5 minutes it was SO EASY to do.
No way!! It worked and I got a mirror to look at the underside before I started drilling and noticed a few circles with a smaller circle on the inside of that, so that is where I drilled. The noise is gone now. IT WORKED!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
We were about to buy a new washer and my husband kept looking for fixes for out of balance and not spinning the water out of our Samsung washing machine. He found this video and did it and it is spinning like it is supposed to now with no error codes. Thank you for this video!! It worked! We had already had new suspension rods put in and it still gave error codes afterwards.
Total 180 difference, this man and solution are a gift to humankind. Ridiculous how well this worked after hours of frustration trying to balance this machine.
I just put new rods in my Samsung and it still rocked and rolled,, I had to put the towels in just right to get a fairly good spin,,, I said ok, it sounds daring and it is living on the edge but I tried your idea of drilling the holes,, as I drilled the holes I grimaced and water came out ,, I put a big sheet and more towels in and set it for rinse and spin,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, WOW ! it actually worked and I did not have to move any towels or sheets to make it spin smoothly ,,, you have saved people hundreds of dollars as I read these comments. I thank you for sharing your knowledge wit the public.
THANK YOU!!! It works!! Oh my goodness!! We bought new suspension rods, spent entire days doing the same load of laundry moving the clothes inside only to have it go off balance. We drilled holes in the top and drained the water and it works perfectly now! Did a spin only cycle then towels. No more issues!!!
Thank you so so so much. If you are reading this and need a sign let this be it : it works!!! We literally scrolled down reading all the comments on video before trying and literally every comment says it works so we gave it a go and I am so thankful. You saved us over $700 for a new washer 🙏🏻💚
This guys solution WORKS! I couldn't wash my bedding without taking hours going up and down the stairs to reset. I was ready to junk mine until I saw this video and figured what the heck. It's a miracle how now nothing makes it go off center now.
This worked! We were ready to throw our one year old unit away! We could only wash on the delicate cycle and even then towels and sheets would get out of balance. Thank goodness my last search for a solution turned up this video. I can't help but wonder if the holes were supposed to be there in the three recesses molded into the ring and that the factory forgot to drill them. It is also ridiculous that Samsung hasn't figured this out a d posted an easy to find technical bulletin on their web page. Thanks!
I was hesitant to try this, but I was super desperate and the repair man quoted us $650 to fix "it", but suggested buying a new washer and dryer... I drilled my holes and it works again!!! OMG. I can't believe it. Thank you for this video, I have not seen anyone else recommend this unconventional method, but it absolutely works. Before drilling the holes I could hear all the water swirling around in my rings. Totally a design flaw from Samsung.
Thank you so much for posting this! I replaced the suspension rods and recalibrated my WA50R5200AW, but even after those fixes it was still stopping with error "Ur" and shaking so badly it looked like it was ready to walk away. I was going to throw it away so I figured what could it hurt to drill it. I used tape to mark where the 8 holes should be to be evenly spaced. Water only came out from one quarter of the ring. I just ran a load on the fastest spin and it works perfectly now!
Swapped the suspension rods a couple of times. Had a new machine in the cart. Tried this and just successfully ran a full load of towels, no problem. Thank you!
I was going crazy already with my Samsung washer only 3 yrs old and kept unbalancing I just drilled 6 holes and ran a load and omg no banging or unbalance as of yet!!!!! Ty so much for making my stress settle !
Omg!!!! This works!!! My machine was driving me nuts!!!!! Every time it would spin it would go off balance and I would have to wring the clothes out by hand. Do not hesitate, just do this it works like new now!! Thank God I ran across this video.... 😊
@@tiffanysgottimetoday4589 yes it's still working. I do have problems when I put too much clothes in the washer. I have to rearrange the clothes cause it piles up on one side. But that's my fault for over loading it....
It works!!!!!! Really hesitated drilling holes into my washer but I was getting desperate. I'm in shock! Works like a charm now. Thank you so much for the help!!
MELL0 I had to run it 2 times and now it works like new I can put big loads of clothes and no issues at first I had problems washing a towel that thing was so off balance
I can not even begin to express my gratitude for this fix!!!! IT WORKS!!! I had my machine on Offer Up for weeks. Got like 8 offers but I didn't sell it. Then my Kenmore front loader took a dump. I pull out my Samsung from the back porch; drilled the holes and WHAM first load of heavy towels ran smooth!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Works perfectly. Thank you! ** This also fixes the problem where the machine adds many minutes to the cycle - It had been extending the normal cycle an hour. After drilling, the cycle runs in the normal time. This was some bad engineer's wet dream. The design is inherently unstable and if any small problem develops the failure is not gentle. Just bad design.
I was extremely skeptical about this fix because it sounded too good to be true. All I can say is “thank you!” I didn’t find this solution anywhere else. Drilled the holes a week ago and have not had an out of balance load since!
This the craziest thing I've ever heard of. Someone is just messing with us! We bought the 4 suspension rods, and that didn't fix the off balance issue. So we started looking at new washers. Washers without all the computer panels, a cheap one! Our machine is the Samsung top loader. I was like, let me check out another fix, and I found this...what do I have to lose, we're getting a new washer in the morning! He said 8 holes, I went for 20+, and water kept coming out. We did a medium load....no off balance issue, hmmmmm, still not believing it, I did a bigger heavy duty load, the kind that would walk my washer across the floor! WHAT!!!!????😱 NO OFF BALANCE ISSUE! 😅 You got to be kidding me. This was the fix!!!! Thank you so much for the craziest fix I've ever tried, but the one that worked. And yes, same as another person, we saved $600 with this fix. My machine is singing to me now.😉Thank you so very much for your video!
After watching this I thought no way this will work and no way there is water in the top ring. Drilled my holes, let it drain, bingo! Washer works better than the first time I used it! These Samsung’s have a definite design flaw.

Well hot damn; this does work! Thanks for the tip! I was also already shopping for a new one, and came across this...
You rock!!!! This absolutely fixed my washer yesterday!!! Thank you so very much. This has been a long term and frustrating problem. Thank you!!!
Thanks!
I've been dealing with this problem for months, tried everything he mentioned in this video...this worked! better than spending $$$for a new washer.
This totally worked! Thank you for sharing. Wish I knew why though.
I just tried this on my Samsung Top Load washer, I was very skeptical, but it did the trick! I was truly amazed! Thank You!!
Omg!!! I just did this and I have run 3 full loads since drilling the holes.....Not 1 noise! Ran through the cycles perfectly!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!! Less than 5 minutes to do this, I was ready to set this washer on fire!
Was hesitant to drill into a $700 washer but wow worked like a charm!
Swapped the suspension rods a couple of times. Had a new machine in the cart. Tried this and just successfully ran a full load of towels, no problem. Thank you!
This worked like a charm. We were ready to buy a new washer. Our Samsung was only 3 years old. Thank you!!
Totally just fixed my washer!!!
Thank you.
I’m so usually skeptical about things but this video just saved me thousands of dollars. It worked immediately thanks for the help .
This finally fixed my Samsung washer. Thanks for the tip!
Cat D11T what model do you have?
I just bought the WA50M7450AW and it is already having the unbalance error and rinse/spin cycles non stop
I was going crazy already with my Samsung washer only 3 yrs old and kept unbalancing I just drilled 6 holes and ran a load and omg no banging or unbalance as of yet!!!!! Ty so much for making my stress settle !
Fixed my machine
Thank you for posting this fix
Omg!!!! This works!!! My machine was driving me nuts!!!!! Every time it would spin it would go off balance and I would have to wring the clothes out by hand. Do not hesitate, just do this it works like new now!! Thank God I ran across this video.... 😊
Is it still working for you?
@@tiffanysgottimetoday4589 yes it's still working. I do have problems when I put too much clothes in the washer. I have to rearrange the clothes cause it piles up on one side. But that's my fault for over loading it....
It works!!!!!! Really hesitated drilling holes into my washer but I was getting desperate. I'm in shock! Works like a charm now. Thank you so much for the help!!
Is it still working?
My dad is telling me not to but I am really tempted right now. Just replaced my water pump case. Idk how a small hole came about
MELL0 I did mines and it works perfectly I’m so happy I did no more resetting
MELL0 I had to run it 2 times and now it works like new I can put big loads of clothes and no issues at first I had problems washing a towel that thing was so off balance
This worked great and fixed our Samsung top load washer, thank you so much!!
Wow! Washer is back up running in tip top shape again! I was a little suprised that this actually worked, was kinda a last ditch effort. Thanks!
I did this last night on my always out of balance Samsung washer. Works perfectly and no more unbalanced error!!
You know I was skeptical as the rest of you but I just did it and it works I mean I have to run it twice so thank you for this video
Thanks man you just saved me a ton of money on a new machine... works perfect 👌
Absolutely Amazing.....my washer works better than ever! I had nothing to lose by trying it my washer was such a mess. Just Amazing!
Holy crap I can't believe this worked! Thank you so much!
YOURE A GENIUS!!! Thank you so so much! Soap poured out of all the holes I drilled.
Alright, you're right. This worked like a charm. Worked exactly as you described. This was worth my time
Thank you very very much for sharing!!!!! This really helped me out.
Wow thank you had hubs do this just now to our whirlpool and oh my the water that came out. Thank you so much
I can not even begin to express my gratitude for this fix!!!!
Wow!!! I can't believe it. Thank you for blessing my family. It works 😁
Great great tip! Thank youuuu for it my washer now works like a new one
Is it still working
Worked like a charm! Thank you so much
Omg this worked. Thanks so much. I was about to go buy a new one. But decided to give this a try. And boom. It fixed it
Works perfectly.
I agree with everyone else in here, what a simple and perfect fix! Thank you.
This really works. Thank you so much. I was about to change my washer.. but this simple task helped.
THIS TOTALLY WORKED ! IM SUPER EXCITED LOL , THANK YOU SOOO MUCH ! 😁
Worked like a charm, thank you.
You the man bud!! Worked like a charm.
When I first seen this I thought it was nuts. But thank you it works just as you said.
I did it , I fixed a terrible problem with a very simple solution. Thank you.
After watching this I thought no way this will work and no way there is water in the top ring. Drilled my holes, let it drain, bingo! Washer works better than the first time I used it! These Samsung’s have a definite design flaw.
Does drilling holes in the washing machine drum ring work on a Maytag bravos?
It’s fixed! Thank you! Damn you Samsung!!!
