It works! After months of frustration, we were just about to buy a new washer until I tried this fix last night (6/30/2023). I drilled 8 holes into the top plastic skirt of the drum just as the video shows. Sure enough, water poured out of each hole after drilling. The water had been trapped due to it crystalizing after 5 years of heavy use and was no longer able to drain out of the designed drainage slots. Apparently, there must be a balancing sensor monitoring the moisture in this plastic skirt. It can provide false readings when water stays trapped in it. Who would have known? I tried replacing the computer board and all 4 suspension rods and none of that worked but this fix did it! Thanks!

You are brilliant ! My husband drilled the holes, drained the water and it works like new. I was very upset. In 2014 we did a major renovation on our home and bought new. Washer ,dryer, fridge, oven, dishwasher and microwave. To date we have had problems with every one of them except the microwave. I would never spend money on any Samsung product again. Their customer service is a joke as is their products !! At least my washer is back to normal ! Thanks again !

DO NOT WAIT to do this fix!! It works!!! I threw in sheets and towels, which have been piling up for a month or more because of how much I have been dreading using this stupid machine and it worked! I almost cried! As others suggested run an empty spin cycle before this, or just spun it manually for a bit until all the water comes out.
Thank you so much! You saved me so much money and grief! Life changing!!!

Thank you for sharing your video! We were having this same spinning issue and tried several fixes ourselves. We weren't going to spend the money to fix because it was going to cost almost $600 so we had nothing to lose by trying this. We were looking to buy another washer if we couldn't fit it ourselves, you saved us a bundle! and the satisfaction of fixing it ourselves is definitely a bonus, made my day!

I signed into CZcams just to leave this comment. I have a whirlpool washer that is a similar design, I would have already purchased a new machine but they have gotten very expensive with inflation. My machine has four pads, one on each interior surface, you can feel for them if you move the tub to the side a little. The first fix i was suggested said to check these and one was missing, so I replaced all the pads with something more robust which fixed the vibration problem, but only for a few cycles. Then I saw this video and figured why not...it worked for mine too, SO grateful. Thank you! And if you try this fix and it doesn't work, check those pads because they help to center the Tub when the spin first starts.

I had this problem with our Samsung washer, which was only a year old. It kept getting worse and worse until the machine became unusable a couple of days ago. I could not figure it out. Nothing made sense! But I drilled around the rim as you suggested. Water POURED OUT of every hole I drilled. Next wash, no problem. You saved me a minimum of several hundred dollars, and probably the cost of a new machine (about $800). Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!

What a great video my friend!!! After changing the rods, calibrating the washer, leveling and removing the loads for almost a week, finally we were able to do laundry after this simple hack. I did notice the water at the top of the drum but I couldn't find a way to flush it. It's hard to imagine that with all the engineers working in the design of this machine, no one could prevent this issue. I guess they're just thinking about taking our money from our pockets.

I am in disbelief how this worked so easily. I ran across this answer a year ago but thought, "Yeah, right..." At that time I stuffed pillows in each corner of the machine, which worked - for a while.
I saw this video again and decided I had nothing to lose. I only made four holes in the underside of the ring and tried it out on spin cycle. At first I thought it didn't work because the machine was not moving at all then I touched it and could feel it was spinning like a top! This works! And I still have two of the four pillows I couldn't find again stuffed inside there somewhere! Thank you!

After changing the rods and putting rubber pads on the feets, we still have the out of balance problem. About to give up and buy a new wasger. Tried this fix. This worked. First I drilled 4 holes, even spaced. Some water came out. Shook the drum and felt there were water still inside. Drilled 4 more. Water still inside. Seems to have multiple "compartments". Finally, drilled a few holes. Total may be 12 holes. I did a SPIN cycle for a minute to spin out the water. . Then stopped the cycle. Calibrate the washer. Then I did two small loads of bath towels that had been giving us out of balance error. Both washes went through.
    Thank you.
Update: 10+ loads later. No out of balance error. We will skip the labor day appliance sale this year.

Confirmed. This works. I was skeptical, but it worked like a charm. When I felt the underside of the drum lip, it seems that our Samsung washer actually had 3 punch tabs/pilots to drill through. I drilled those out with a 3/16" bit, then added 3 more holes evenly spaced between them. Shook the drum around a bit to let the water drain out and it has been in balance ever since. Thank you!

I never comment on videos, but today is the day folks. It was to the point that it would take us all day to do a load of laundry with the number of times we would have to resituate the clothes before the load would finish, due to the wash being out of balance. Ultimately, we would wind up having to take most of the items out leaving let's say 5 small items in the load for it to finish. Ridiculous! Fast forward to today, we tried this fix and have successfully washed 2 loads of laundry without a problem. Since we really had nothing to lose, we pushed it with our 2 test loads. The 1st was a load of towels, and the 2nd a full washer worth of sheets. My husband and I have been laughing all day about "the things that make you happy as an adult." This video saved us hundreds of dollars. We are so glad we found it! (We did run an empty cycle first to get rid of the excess water as others suggested below).

I can not even begin to express my gratitude for this fix!!!! IT WORKS!!! I had my machine on Offer Up for weeks. Got like 8 offers but I didn't sell it. Then my Kenmore front loader took a dump. I pull out my Samsung from the back porch; drilled the holes and WHAM first load of heavy towels ran smooth!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Works perfectly. Thank you! ** This also fixes the problem where the machine adds many minutes to the cycle - It had been extending the normal cycle an hour. After drilling, the cycle runs in the normal time. This was some bad engineer's wet dream. The design is inherently unstable and if any small problem develops the failure is not gentle. Just bad design.

I was extremely skeptical about this fix because it sounded too good to be true. All I can say is “thank you!” I didn’t find this solution anywhere else. Drilled the holes a week ago and have not had an out of balance load since!

This the craziest thing I've ever heard of. Someone is just messing with us! We bought the 4 suspension rods, and that didn't fix the off balance issue. So we started looking at new washers. Washers without all the computer panels, a cheap one! Our machine is the Samsung top loader. I was like, let me check out another fix, and I found this...what do I have to lose, we're getting a new washer in the morning! He said 8 holes, I went for 20+, and water kept coming out. We did a medium load....no off balance issue, hmmmmm, still not believing it, I did a bigger heavy duty load, the kind that would walk my washer across the floor! WHAT!!!!????😱 NO OFF BALANCE ISSUE! 😅 You got to be kidding me. This was the fix!!!! Thank you so much for the craziest fix I've ever tried, but the one that worked. And yes, same as another person, we saved $600 with this fix. My machine is singing to me now.😉Thank you so very much for your video!

After watching this I thought no way this will work and no way there is water in the top ring. Drilled my holes, let it drain, bingo! Washer works better than the first time I used it! These Samsung’s have a definite design flaw.
