  • This is an updated version of my popular Print then Cut Hack for the Cricut Joy video.
    In it, I will show you how to get around Cricut Design Space's recent requirement that you own a machine that has the Print Then Cut function to use the Joy hack. This makes it a bit more complicated but still very do-able. Enjoy!

    This Print Then Cut Hack has three basic parts - Create the template for the Joy, Layout and Print the Stickers, Add the to the Template in Design Space. It's a little more fiddly than the previous hack but it does work and provides consistently great results!

    Thank you for this tutorial . It’s very easy to follow and made amazing sticker’s .😊. Now I don’t need to buy any bigger machines as the joy can do most of the work😊.

      Yay! I'm glad you tried it and can get more from your Joy now without having to buy a bigger machine.

    Thank you for sharing! I’ve owned my Cricut Joy for almost 2 years and never used it. I don’t understand why they would change the function to make it necessary to find a “hack” to use the product.

      That is an excellent question. I wonder that too - to get you to buy a machine that can print then cut too? Impossible to know really.

    This is an amazing and absolutely great idea, I was so bummed when my joy was asking me to register new devices! This would work great!!

    I followed everything and it worked well until I got to the contouring bit, when the contour took out the images and left a black background. I can't think where I went wrong.

      @@stellashandmade If the black background is the offset layer for each image, that’s okay. Offset defaults to a black fill but you can cut it out of any color if you don’t want to change the fill color of the offset layer. Or, am I misunderstanding what the black background is that you’re left with?

      @@BlackSheep303Crafts The actual images were 'cut out' of the black background.

      Is the black background the rectangle that you made with the sticker images in Canva or something else? Did you remove the white background using the + and clicking anywhere on the white around the images after you first uploaded it to Design Space? The rectangle shouldn't be a solid color if you did that. I think I need some more details.

    I wonder if I can use that hack with the maker.

    • @BlackSheep303Crafts
      @BlackSheep303Crafts  Před 15 dny +1

      You don't need to - the Maker supports Print Then Cut projects so you can print right from Design Space and the Maker's sensor reads the corner marks that are added to the print and then cuts the images out. The Joy doens't have the sensor which is why you need the hack.

      @@BlackSheep303Crafts Ok. Thanks. I don't like printing from there because of the pixels. I need to find an up to date hack for printing outside of DS.

      @@Wrightn221 Are you using your printer dialog box to set the printer settings rather than just using whatever Design Space sets it at? Under the "Add Bleed" toggle on the Print Setup screen in Design Space that shows up after you click Send to Printer, there's a toggle for "Use System Dialog". If you turn that on then your printer dialog box will show up and you can change the settings to High Quality/Best, change the paper type, etc. That should allow you to print high quality from Design Space. But if you're getting a lot of pixelization in the prints, that sounds like an image issue, not a print issue - as in the image is too small/the resolution is too low to print at the size you want it to without pixelating. If you are downloading images from the web, for example, they are normally at 72 ppi (pixels per inch), whereas print quality is 300 ppi so that may be the problem. If that's the problem, you'll need to either download images at a higher quality/larger size (sometimes websites give you that option) or take them into a program like Vectorizer.ai (not free unfortunately) to scale them up in quality. I hope that makes sense.

      @@BlackSheep303Crafts I know all about pixels and what they should be. I make t shirts, tumblers, etc. so I know my files have to be 300 dpi or higher. My printer setting has nothing to do with how Cricut decreases the pixels in something that's 300 dpi or higher. It's DS. It's not created for sublimation. Thanks for responding.

      The explore and maker series machines offer Print Then Cut so you don't need a hack.
