    I loved your video! I have a commercial hydrator being delivered next week. I'm a health coach and have a shop in my rural town. I can't wait to start making lots of yummy things for myself and to sell. Fruit leather is the first thing to try! Thanks for sharing such a cute and informative video! ☺🌿💐

    • @rolovegan4888
      @rolovegan4888  Před 5 lety

      Glad you like it! :) Yes, the wax paper is probably safer as you won't have to worry about the potential flavour of the oil coming through, but if you like it, go for it!

    Okay mine came out like cookies my dehydrator isn't as nice as yours it's the older style white one and I put it in my laundry room because it seems to make things quicker. I put them in last night and was late for work and ran out of the house. Came home took a nap for an hour and woke up saying holy s..... lol

      Monty Grantham oh dear! I wonder if your liquid was too thick maybe? Spreading it out thinly is definitely important... but you also don’t want it TOO thin either. Perhaps increasing the temperature slightly might help as well. I’d try again and experiment a little! They make such delicious snacks! 🙂

    wonder how much more expensive these become due to the hydro bill

  • @TheD2D21
    @TheD2D21 Před 4 lety +1

    I don't know if 20 years is accurate, but in air-tight containers they can last at least a year [That's just what I like to think]. I have a dehydrator instruction booklet with some fruit leather recipes and it only says 1 week shelf life in an airtight container. I thought, 'Get outta here!'
    On a more informed decision about how long can they last according to the National Center for Home Food Preservation they only last 1 month; if you want them to last up to a year you have to freeze them (Source: nchfp.uga.edu/how/dry/fruit_leathers.html). Now the point of dehydrating is for the most part to preserve your food, especially to have in-season produce available off-season. I would store it in a dry, shaded (no direct sunlight exposure) air-tight container. Check once a month (if you actually have fruit leathers that can last that long) and see if they don't smell or taste funny.
    Now with the tastiness of these things it's hard for them to last a week, some don't even last a day! But have fun and hopefully you can make and roll-up enough to have for a few months at least. They're just so irresistible.
