This just may be the happiest, feel good song ever made
She's so sweet. It brings tears to my eyes to watch her sing and listen to her voice. Its' so sad what happened to her but I'm glad she gave us so much good music that will live on forever.
AlJeffersonA1 Thanks!
Talent like this only comes once. PERIOD.
Karen Carpenter had a gorgeous voice, some claim it was the best ever. Listening and watching this video I'm inclined to believe them.
A very good singer indeed, but I think Judith Durham of the Seekers is a bit better.
This song has taken a bit of an ironic twist in my life; as I have recently lost two of my brothers (due to some terribly wrong decisions they have both individually made) so every morning I sing this as I take my first shower, and I pretend my brothers are still with me. One of them left several months ago, and the other one just two weeks ago, but there's hardly a day in my life I do not cry my eyes out wishing neither of them had never left. But hey they had to "live their lives" (no matter who it hurt) because THAT's what being "an adult" is all about. And I have never been as affected by such a "fact of life" as not having them around anymore. So I sing this because having ALL my brothers with me IS MY VERY CHILDISH definition of being on "Top Of The World"
She had one of the most pleasing voices i ever heard.
+Denver Morgan Yeah, that's what I say too.
'
The Song that can never be forgotten ..
Brings back My Childhood Days when 'Carpenters' was a Hit !
As a 62 year old, it makes me sad to get blank looks when I ask my much younger co-workers about The Carpenters. They don't know what they missed.
They don't make songs like this anymore, the oldies to me were the best, her voice was and still is one of the best ever.
My goodness. I'm listening to this with tears in my eyes. There were so many good things that this song brings back. There will never be another time like it. To be a kid back then was wonderful/great. You just had to be there to really appreciate it.
I totally agree!...the good ole days.
Wow! Thanks for your thoughts Ioby. Good to know there re people out there that still can reflect to there in today's world. great meeting you.
I'm a 36 year old male and I love The Carpenters. Karen had an awesome voice. So sad dead at 32.
+Patrick Mcmanus A tragedy indeed.
+Patrick Mcmanus I like them too !!!
+Patrick Mcmanus ya such a shame she offed herself, she thought she was fat, look at those hips! damn hot chick for her era for sure
If i could like this 1000 times i would...this is simply just a beautiful song.....
I have tears in my eyes with a smile on my face. She'll never be replaced.
Karen's voice is indeed priceless. Their songs are so beautifully sung. No one would ever be able to replace her now that shes gone:(
When you're sad, feeling down, suicidal, stressed just listen to this song! The best medicine ever, the most happiest tune ever!!
Esta es una de las clásicas, canciones de amor de los setentas, es una pena que hoy en dia ya no se compongan este tipo de canciones, con sentido con amor, en fin
Love that calming voice.
Such a angels voice... it's 2019 and I still haven't heard a voice as pure and sweet .thank goodness for you tube..😊 you are missed karen.r I p
In my opinion no other song or video better represents Karen Carpenter's voice, talent and beauty than this one.
This SONG is the GOLD!! It never gets old
Just so charming and beautiful. RIP sweet girl.
Just one thing I can say: WONDERFUL :))
Karen Carpenter (March 2, 1950 - February 4, 1983) is perfect in this performance, I don't know the date but whenever it was she was at her peak.
There are times when only The Carpenters will do! Now is one of those times.
Karen Carpenter (March 2, 1950 - February 4, 1983) had the most beautiful voice that many people have heard.
Can anyone find an artist who has brought joy / happiness to millions who did not suffer immensely themselves? It is not usual or natural to have the ability to emotionally influence millions. Carpenters were no exception. I grew up listening to them when my dad play the music, along with John Denver, Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Beatles etc...
Such pleasant lyrics. Very uplifting music.
We all have taste and for me this just may be the perfect song. Flawless.
I agree, one of the best songs ever written. I think, however, that even here she looks thin.
And she did it so effortlessly - amazing. What a sweet, absolutely pleasant and agreeable voice. Unique.
Wonderful song, wonderful voice from a beautiful woman. RIP Karen.
Music like this isn't made anymore, mainstream songs nowadays are a steaming pile of hot garbage.
The voice of an Angel.
the best song of the love to everybody in this earth!Cheers!God Bless you all!
Karen Carpenter's signature performance.
This one video is the best example of how great Karen could be.
She was flawless here....I miss her so much....
Karen Carpenter (March 2, 1950 - February 4, 1983).
I remember listening to this beautiful song when I was learning english in Colombia, great Voice, love them, RIP KAREN.
still rmb the school day that we often sing this wonderful song. love this song ever.
I love happy songs, no matter who performs them. When the Carpenters perform this it lifts my soul. Man were they good.
wonderful song that cheers up my day!
No matter how much i listen to this, I LOVE IT MORE AND MORE. On my ipod, i have listened to it for a 1000 times. May your soul rest in peace, Karen. May the Lord bless all, who listen to this music, Its music like this, which will remain forever in the hearts, of people who appreciate music so much. GOD BLESS ALL! Everyone! David from INDIA.
It's a lovely, tuneful, mellow song. The sort of song that can be soothing if you've had a hard day.
great video and a dynomite duo. Music was actually music back then. We lost a great talent back in '83. RIP Karen
I remember as a young boy listening to my moms 8 tracks and lovin listening to the carpenters, Love her voice, she was something special
Such a beautiful voice from such a beautiful lady.
Every time I hear these songs it brings tears to my eyes, All the memories that come back to my mind is so real as if I was back in time, Thank You the carpenters for all those great songs....
every time i hear this song it brings back memories of my 8th grade Graduation at Robert Waters school in Union City nj in 1982 i sang that song on june 16,1982
The first song of the Carpenters that I really noticed. (I was fairly young at the time.) I honestly couldn't believe it. I thought, "What a beautiful voice. I could listen her quite a bit!" I've been a fan ever since.
私の中で1番好きな曲です。😍🎸🎼🇯🇵🗾⛩🎸😍👍
Always all times excellant.
It's not too old for me to listen, I love it so much.
beautiful, just beautiful; hooray for the Carpenters
These songs make me cry.....
2020 and I still say that the day they buried karen was such a great loss for everyone. Just a pure angels voice never to be heard or duplicated yet.
Karen Carpenter, angels voice...love it.
this reminds me the time i sang in the primary school , love this song very much~!!
I needed to cheer up,so i came here,Thankyou Karen and God Bless.
what a beautiful song.
this song takes me back so far when i was kid, i was so innocent and naive i didnt know nothin about greed, jealousy, and sadness now im so fuckin corrupt
i took wrong turn with my life drinking for 30 years, now im paying for it with health problems
I have gevin this a lot of thought, First this is a wonderful song and sung by trully an angel. Richard wrote the song and the words express how he felt about his sister and he knew that Karen was the only person that could present it in her own special way. This song is deeper that people realize. Listen to the words again and watch Richard in the video and you will see..big brother and little sister just enjoying what they love...amazing.
Just like God's Love for us...His Love puts me on the TOP OF THE WORLD. DEUS CARITAS EST! :)
+Johnny Huynh he loves you so much that he created for the purpose that he have to worship him for all eternity
God, I thought Karen was so beautiful. Such a radiant smile, beautiful brunette hair, lovely eyes, and the voice of an angel. I'll never understand what she saw in herself in the mirror that she felt was so ugly. Hers is easily one of the greatest tragedies in music history.
+Jonathan Goh She was ill. Whatever started it - nasty throwaway comments, a shyness that struggled with being in the spotlight - I don't know - but in the end it was illness. Her perceptions altered as brain chemicals altered. She was, though, always a lovely woman.
I was born in 90's but I love The Carpenters.
The voice is so smoothy. I loved it forever and ever....
such a talented brother and sister, and you can tell they loved each other by this song.....so sad for his loss.........
カレン可愛い。
リチャードかっこいい。
歌素敵。
最高です。
the most soothing voice of the century
If I had only one video to express the Carpenters talent it would be this one.
Really awesome song!!!!
Que voz preciosa!!!!!
If you were not around in the 70's, sorry for your loss.
Love this, the melody is captivating.
REALLY catchy tune - good job by her brother on that. Of course, perfectly realized by Karen. This woman had the most amazing range of frequencies in her voice and absolute perfect pitch as well. I guess some Carpenters songs are guilty pleasures for us Rock fans. But this song was on the radio when I was 10 or so - and it reminds me of carefree times.
Sad things is, she never looked better than she does here. What exactly didn't she like about herself?? What a mystery.
+George Orr From what I remember at the time , Karen was called chubby, plump, etc. in reviews the duo received early in their careers. She started dieting to change that and this combined with the pressures that come with a show business career caused her anorexia. Karen was seeing a psychiatrist for her anorexia which was a very misunderstood illness at the time. Her heart was severely damaged from some of the things which she used to stay skinny and she died on February 3, 1983 from heart failure.
+lilgiggler35 Its a sad story for sure. The older I get, the more I know I can't judge anybody. After all, personality traits - like self esteem - are a complete mystery. We ALL live a secret life in our heads. Furthermore - Kurt Kobain said it best: "At the top, all you find is more work."
+George Orr I've always thought that in spite of her voice, she was homely.
magovenor on what planet is this woman homley. She was every bit as beautiful as her voice. If she is what is considered homley there are a hell of a lot of women who wish that they were homley.
angel's voice
I don't think there will ever be another time like the 50's 60's 70's. clean air and we even still had an Ozone layer all three!. this is your Wowy! alert. but of course the earth only had 4.5 billion people back then.
+cacolyptic cacotopia
Maybe every old people think so, me too!
thumbs up
wat a wonderful angel voice karen !
god bless
she is the best singer in the world....just something extraordinary.............miss you mam...............
such a beautiful amazing angelic contralto voice the carpenters rules >_
No other video I know of shows Karen's beauty and talent as much as this one. Karen you had the greatest voice that a human being as ever been blessed with, I am so sorry that you didn't realize that that was enough for us to love you forever.
Then: "Not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eyes."
Now: "Not a star in the sky, got the dust in my eyes."
I want to time travel.
