While the US Founding Fathers were very much Bourgeoisie who created a liberal Capitalist system, it is also correct to say their ideas of a new society were sometimes in league with what the early Socialists were advocating for. Suffice to say, if Thomas Jefferson, an icon for libertarianism, were alive today both American major parties would very well label him a Socialist.
