It's been two super interesting days together with @SUNREEFYACHTSOFFICIAL in Monaco on their Sunreef 60 E and it's been even more impressive to visit their HQ in Gdansk, Poland and to see how super yachts and luxury catamarans are built. Exploring their innovative approach to reduce the weight and use sustainable material as well as sustainable technologies like solar panels was really inspiring. What impressed you the most?

No no afraid not. My friend Brendan O’Brian civvy display pilot was flying back to Redhill, getting closer to the dock Brendan was badly in need of a pee and thought I really to land asap,
Then he saw the aircraft carrier and thought ahh that’s a great runway!
So Brendan landed, found a washroom
for relief, got back in his aircraft a Pitt’s Special, then took off. 😂.
Brilliant story as Brendan then explained! There was not a dry eye in the pub that night, we were in stitches. Gosh Brendan is Such a great character super fun, a lovely man. UK’s Biggles.

I mean, imagine just entertaining the idea... it is upfront investment to buy this float and then you have to maintain it.
The worst is usually the maintanance cost..the yacht costs 10% of its value every year. This is gonna be a bit less thanks to the solar panels

That’s ok, I don’t think Nico does either. My guess is that he won’t actually sail. He’ll most likely motor around and sadly the beautiful vessel will never see blue water.
Every yacht owner will tell your that the biggest mistake in their life was a yacht ( I mean yacht with crue, captain - not little that you can manage yourself)
You use the yacht 1-2 month max.
Sow the price that you pay only for 1 year of parking and maintenance - you can offer to yourself 35m every year new boat for 6 weeks..

I absolutely admire Sunreef as a company - their catamarans are built like tanks and popular among cruisers who do around the world tours in them. Seeing this luxury line emerge is really satisfying 🏆

I realize I'm a peasant when I watch Nico's videos. It's interesting to have a glimpse into the life of the successful and wealthy. Kinda sad though realizing I'll never be able to achieve and do for my family what Nico has for his own. Good for you Nico!

But it’s not that surprising for me personally. Poland is very know for making boats/yachts.
I appreciate that you show the value of sustainable, renewable, and even vegan materials. There needs to be more voices in support of these things, and its great that you are using your platform to do so.
love all these new factory tour series. stuff normal people dont have access to and wont ever get to see. and amazing seeing a push for sustainability across many different industries. especially those traditionally you wouldn't think would even care.
very nice catamaran. in August 2020, I was on vacation with my family in Gdańsk, and my attention was drawn to a beautiful catamaran in the Gdańsk Bay. I looked at the photos from the holiday and 90% of it seems to me that it is a lane boat. He is a brand ambassador for the company, I think the base price for this is 2,5 million euro, so in yacht and Monaco terms its a cheap boat.
I suggest moving the yacht away from Monaco for this year’s season because you’ll end up with Mazepin’s Haas lodged on the back.
Mazepin finished the race cleanly. Didn't destroy the car the whole weekend.

At first I was like a “A yacht?!” But watch the video. It’s his life. This thing is seriously designed from the very beginning with sustainability in mind. It shows that even when you a spending huge money, you can do it without wrecking the environment. There are examples embedded throughout the whole video about design choices that center around sustainability.
If as a planet we are going to make stuff, why not make it with low impact in the environment. Also, you see the jobs of the future.

Yeah so environmentally friendly. What happens to the batteries when they're dead. The lithium in the batteries cause major environmental damage digging that out of the ground. And the solar, the panels are full of poisonous chemicals.
There is no such thing as an environmentally friendly yacht! It’s all a scale and Sunreef are definitely not at the eco friendly end of the scale. How do I know? Thirty years of captaining these yachts and listening to all this BS has taught me otherwise.

Actually, this is a relatively low-key Sunreef catamaran. It's the second smallest one in their lineup (the largest is over 150m).

100%.. theres nothng evironmentally friendly about it.. simply not using the most destructive methods of production doesnt make it eco freindly...
That is not the point. The point is: as luxury yatching is not gonna disapear, at least make it as environmentally friendly as you can. They are not saying luxury yatching is eco fiendly.
@@ballistic02 That is the definition of eco-friendly. You said it yourself. Products designed and built to inflict the least amount of damage possible. By definition this yacht is eco-friendly. Everything has its place inside the “eco-friendliness” spectrum. You can’t just put every eco-friendly product on the same bag and start comparing each other, because they serve different purposes. If we look at the yacht standards, we can agree that this yacht in particular is eco-friendly. But if you compare the yacht to a Prius, then the yacht is gonna look bad, and if you compre the Prius to a Smart ( that has 3 cylinders and can’t even do a 100kph) the Prius is gonna look bad and so on.
Absolutely. The environmental impact of manufacturing solar panels is obscene. Can carbon fibre be recycled as easily as aluminium? Bet it can’t.

Awww. I’m so relieved by all of this. I do worry that Nico always looks like he needs a holiday. It must be from the Monaco traffic. I was going to recommend that he buy a yacht, but looks like he beat me to it. Sleeps 12 and weighs 50 tons, but Eco friendly, so...Yay.
That is absolutely beautiful, and loving how eco-friendly it is. I've only been lucky enough to do one day on a yacht in Monaco for qualifying, thanks to a friend who got me a cheap ticket, and the tender out to the yacht was the wildest ride I have ever experienced. I thought I was going to end up in the sea. 😂 I could understand being very happy just drifting in the beautiful blue for a day or two. What a life! 🤩💙

So a friend of mine rented a boat in the Amsterdam canals and I was the captain responsible for 8 souls. It was an electric boat. Very eco. We had a lot of fun, food, booze, and beautiful views of the city. I'm honestly wondering what it would be like to own a big yacht like the one Nico has. Maintenance and harboring the thing alone would swallow up most of my income every month. But I could live in it, I wouldn't need a house anymore. My house would go wherever I want it to go. That does sound amazing. I'm so happy that there are people in this world who get to experience that :)

How is everyone suprised about the Yacht? Nico Made aprox. 16 Million in 2016 alone. I am actually more suprised with the price of the Yacht considering it „only“ costs around 1.5 - 2 million. So gongrats Nico. The boat is awsome.

I admire your journey Nico. I also appreciate your sustaianability ethos and purpose to push for more sustainable products, solutions, way of living. The catamaran is sick and it's impressive how far sailing yachts have gone in terms of responsible manufacturing and operation! I am with you on that. I don't think the timing is the best to post this video though. Maybe 2nd half of next year would be better received when the first signs of recovery will be coming.

I agree about luxury yachting and climate change, and with luxuries in general; people will continue to indulge in their various pleasures, be it cars, food, or yachts, so it is important to provide sustainable opportunities and alternatives.

I think it depends if they are using green electricity from solar or wind for the production facilities. But unfortunately in Poland most electricity come from coal.
