I remember when the Pokémon anime had an episode where Skitty learned blizzard. The Delcatty in that episode inspired me to use it as a wildcard with ice, grass, electric, steel type moves

Thought we'd get a Relicanth sighting. One of the most obscure pokemon and basically never gets used because of how late it becomes available.
IIRC you never even need to go into the underwater grass the two times diving is necessary, so you might not even encounter any Pokémon while diving without trying

When I was a kid and I didn't know what relicanth exactly was, I made it my hm slave
I used to love using Pokémon in the anime like May who had a skitty and Beautifly and then Dustox and Seviper who Jessie had. I remember when skitty learnt blizzard in the anime it seemed SO strong that I rushed to teach it to my skitty. I remember for the elite four I used a moon stone to finally evolve my skitty into a delcatty and it made it seem SOOOO powerful to me at the time!! It’s actually crazy how bad delcatty is in terms of stats.
I just restarted my save file of alpha sapphire since I found my 3ds recently and I’m so excited to relive Hoenn again
I used a linoone and electrode in my alpha sapphire playthrough
I found that they're really nice,linoone is great normal stab that can hit most things for neutral damage,and electrode being electric coverage with some pivot moves and fast speed
Fascinating video! I laughed out loud when I saw seaking. I’m also a huge fan of the skitty line because of May’s in the anime! I know it has poor base stats but i’m a fan of cute underdog pokemon. So, in a recent play through of X, I decided to really buff one out. I actually utilized the normalize ability which is a Skitty line exclusive ability. That way all of her attacks turned into normal types aka “effective” and were then boosted by the silk scarf I gave her. I super trained her evs in attack and gave her foresight so she could take out ghost types too. I really only had to watch out for fighting types (which were few and far between in the game tbh). All that paired with return, assist, toxic, and an interchangeable 4th move/foresight. Needless to say Delcatty DEMOLISHED team flare and helped sweep the entire Kalos league! It was such a fun build and I definitely recommend others trying it out and giving Skitty a shot
Masqurain is a good choice, i did use it once because i had never used it before but i cant remember if i took it all the way or not. I might have dropped it for a different mon later in the game.
I do love trying to figure out which mons i havent used and make a team of those.
I second this. I just wish it kept the water type upon evolution
I actually used delcatty and masquiren in ORAS before, honestly, delcatty is only good for contest since it has a deep movepool, but masquiren was good, altough sometimes scald is good
Huntail, Relicanth is rarely used too
i always use masquerain and delcatty in my team. Once u quiver dance in sydney, its game over
I always drop my starter in old games now so I can use more different mons. Surskit is for sure one of the ones I search for and keep in OR until I get to mons I haven’t used and want to. But I’ve used Masquerain in plenty of runs, Bug is my favorite typing, and Intimidate Masquerain is fun to use. Between that and Tail Glow Volbeat, those two are always a good time to me
Just a heads up, the Wild Charge TM is actually post-game only, as you need both bikes to reach its area, and you can't get both bikes together until after you unlock the battle resort. If you don't wanna shoot for Play Rough, then the best alternatives are likely Fake Out or Toxic.
since i got a shiny geodude in x and loved it, i use a geodude in every gen. my current OR team is golem, shiftry, blaziken, swellow, slaking and gyarados, sometimes alakazam or guardevoir. soo.. i use half of your team right now. :D

Currently working on a normal type solo run in alpha sapphire rn actually so you mentioning delcatty and slaking on the same team 🤣 this run has taken me about 4 days so far, it’s not easy having these weird mons
Ive been thinking of doing playthroughs of these games with the teams you have mentioned in this mini series.
Never used that particular team but I do love using Skitty/Delcatty because they’re adorable mascots and make the game challenging lol

Yeah it’s not even powerful either compared to the other rare Pokémon the *You know what* that’s in the area pretty sure ralts is like 4%

Well while I can say I have used Delcatty and Slaking on the same team before it was for a mono normal type run along with Exploud, Swellow, Linoone, and Zangoose.
my original Ruby had two of the pokemon you mentioned, Shiftry and Slaking. I used Swampert, Aagron, Haiyama and i think Gardivor or Dusclops i dont remember sadly

Why not use the truant/giga impact strat? The lazy turn (in my experience) tends to get used up by the recharge. Also, I have used Golem and Shiftry on the same team, but not in combination with the others. The others I have had in teams temporarily, but not at the same time.
I have used Delcatty in ORAS. It was cool actually. And it's my all time favorite mon. It's so underrated and forgotten. The creators did it dirty not giving it a mega evolution and a fairy type with a cool ability.
I've tried to use a delcatty in my emerald version but it started falling behind so I swapped it with a dusclops after I got to mt pyre

You can actually get Goldeen before the second gym. You can use the Old Rod in Petalburg City.
Masquerain is a really fun Pokémon in competitive (at least in BDSP, not sure about OrAs). Just throw it on a team with Defog and Sticky Web, and click Sticky Web once, and let it fall.
I absolutely love masquerain, it only got better with buzz and quiver dance.
I did use a delcatty and beautyfly in my first play thru in Pokémon Ruby,
I never played Hoenn before, I will have to try this team then.
Golem is decent for Hoenn but theres so many water routes and its a Rock/Ground type so it doesn't help that its 4x weak to water but outside of its bad matchups it does have some good ones.
Its also 4x weak to Grass and Ice
@@AdamDawson3 yeah but Grass types have tons of weaknesses and the Ice E4 member can be dealt with by using Electric types since most of her team are Ice/Water types

Ngl, I’ve never switched it to be my starter, but Masquerain is my most favorite Pokémon of all time. Seeing it brought up here brings my a smile to my face

I used to go out of my way to get a skitty every hoenn playthrough and level it up to lv50 to get all its move and THEN evolve it lol
I used skitty when i was like 11 when i replayed my sapphire cartridge.. i lvled it up to lvl 56 until i realised it needed a stone to evolve😅
Growing up, surprisingly as it sounds, Delcaty was my MVP in the Pokémon league in emerald. That return was deadly when friendship was maxed out ☝🏽
Masquerain is actually an excellent pick for this team since in addition to being bad and rare, ORAS is also the last games before Gen VII buffed Masquerain's BST by a staggering 40 points (20 each for Special Attack and Speed). Sure, it's still only 454, but it is leagues better in Gen VII or later, so if someone really liked it and wanted to use it, Gen VII or later is the easy choice.

Actually yeah only difference with my team is your Seaking was swapped with Swampert. I love the team it's fun and Delcatty was set up way different though
Bug type is one of my favorites, and I actually love Masquerain. It’s definitely not the best bug type, but I have respect for all bugs.

I've used Delcatty(Coco) & Slaking(Slaks) in Alpha Sapphire run but, in my defense I'm more of a coordinator than a competitive battler... I wish they would just bring back contest for a side path and/or their own game

With pokemon stadium now on the switch you should a best team for that.

My saved Emerald file from 2011 has an Elite 4 team of, Masquerein, Muk, Solrock, Machoke, Kadabra bad Cacturne. Talk about absurd
One mention of Delcatty, and yeah. I have never used this team for sure.
I actually used slaking and seaking on my first omega ruby playthrough
I would swap Strength on Slaking with Giga Impact. You might as well if you're committing to the hit. especially with how hard giga impact can hit

I've used 2 of these in a playthrough before. Masquerain and Delcatti. I also had an Armaldo on that team. Can you tell that I did not play competitively? I did manage to beat the league 7 levels below the champion. Did I revive spam? Maybe... Did my swampert carry hard? Yes.
unironically, I used 4.5 of this pokemon on a playthrough. And I say .5 cuz I never got golem and I'd thought Graveler, Machamp and Kadabra evolves around lvl80 back then 😭 Slacking tho, I just never find it appealing on anyway. Others like Delcatty and Shiftry is just based on their looks. In Gen 1-4, I often cared who I use base on their back sprites. Masquarein and Seaking just felt majestic for me back then as well
Also, I’ve used Delcatty in OR before. Yea it’s not great as the game goes on lol, but I also love Normal types (and adore cats) so I had to try it out……once was enough though lol also also, I tried Seaking in Galar once. It was okay, kind of like Lumineon, it did it’s job decently well but it wasn’t great or anything. Just mediocre and somewhat boring. Still like both of those mons too, though lol

The amount of time I've played Emerald the hours and hours as a kid and now an adult, at this current point in the video I can say I've used at least the first four pokemon in tandem at one point of another. I always remember hunting for the low encounter rate pokemon slakoth cause he was cute and I liked Vigaroth allot and seadot/shiftry cause I thought he was better then lotad. Meanwhile Delcatty is actually one of my favorite pokemon so it almost has always ended up on a team I made in gen 3. Masqurein is the only outlier here where I think I've only used it maybe 6 or so times in all these years mostly cause I just don't like it.
Golem is where that team certainly falls apart, never been a fan and always liked to use my mudkip/swampert more. for sure.

Ive used Shiftry, delcatty and slaking all in one team back in my Ruby days. Gave up on delcatty after getting surf and honestly i shouldnt have evolved my vigoroth

My weird pure Hoenn team would be: Dustox, Hariyama, Sharpedo/Crawdaunt, Torkoal, Claydol, and Spinda/Kecleon.

Ive used 3 but in different games
I would use Golem more often, if the way to evolve Graveler wasn't so dumb. Trading Pokemon to evolve them should not be a thing, cause it's dumb as hell. Delcatty I do like and would maybe use, if I was willing to take the chance to. And Slaking, I used in an AlphaSapphire playthrough once, if I remember correctly. But the remaining 3 would be way too annoying to get.
This feels alot like my hoenn team
At some point as a teenager I disliked how only the protagonist had access to starters. If there are so many Pokémon trainers.. how come only I have a starter in the entire region? Since that time, for a more immersive, role paying experience (and challenge) I never used the starters again. I made my own story that my person was a ‘normal’ trainer with a different story. Since that time I have fallen in love with so many other Pokémon including Masquerein. So much so that I used it in my first playthrough of Violet along with Seviper and Tropius. (Im on simp for Hoenn)
I never thought my masquerain is that rare
I do t think I’ve used a seaking or delcatty EVER lol and I’ve been playing since red and blue.
Using this team is like undergoing penance for your sins
