My friend was a crime scene cleaner for our county (yes, that is a real government job), based on the story’s she would tell I always thought a game based off of her profession would be so cool. The mafia setting of the game is an awesome touch.
The mafia setting is usually what MOST would associate crime cleaners with! Not saying your full of crap with that story about your friend but I don't think saying that openly on the internet would be a wise idea.

Why should one feel the need to be coy about this subject, it's a perfectly legitimate, and entirely necessary, job.
Local governments, law enforcement agencies and property owners will regularly call upon professional crime scene cleaning crews, as 'regular' cleaning services often lack the equipment or training to deal with that kind of cleanup.
Crime scene cleaner is a real, legal job. After a crime has been investigated the property needs to be cleaned so it can be sold, or someone else can move in, or whatever. Sometimes the government has a team, sometimes it's a private firm. @cursedhawkins1305

Are these voices AI generated? Most feel a bit .. off .
Indie game voice acting comes in 2 flavours. "Lovingly crafted and integral since day 1" and "oh shit the game ships tomorrow and I haven't done the voices, let me do it quick now with this supermarket mic"
Yeah, that's a lot cheaper than hiring a real voice actor. You see it a lot in Indy horror games as well. Could be if the demo does well enough they'll hire an actual human.
I don't think it was AI, I think they are just novice voice actors (though tbf AI voices are scarily accurate sometimes)
Definitely think its AI, The "Hi Mark" and difficult linguistics like filler words and emotion wasn't very well done which makes it seem so
It is, and I think its well executed in this case. It's better then just having text to read, and for the context its not too out of place. It will never be as good as real voice acting, but for an indie game thats okay.

God, "Landshaker" what a call back. Next you will be telling me it's called Crime Scene Cleaner because it was invented by "Jimmy Crime Scene" with his cleaning company XD
Personally, I do find the voice work a bit iffy, not sure why, honestly sounds a bit like AI XD, but doesn't damper the enjoyment of the game too much. Not to mention, some really fun mechanics indeed.

pretty neat, i somehow really like watching games like this and viscera, so would love to see more of it, once it comes out.
also appreciate the devs putting some more mechanics in and scripted stuff like the body falling down the balcony. you could do some good stuff with that.

The bit with a detective figuring out the crime because of a misplaced piece of furniture is funny, but I think the intent there is that everything being in disarray would tip them off. Perhaps the game being more lenient on what it considers "messy" and "clean" would be in order.
Celestial Empire is a real game by the same company, it's actually some kind of city builder that Tom might like 👀

not to be that guy but blood cannot be cleaned with soap. you need a enzyme cleaner which will "digest" the blood down into sugars. I know this cuz I work in a kitchen. we also use a enzyme cleaner for fat and grease. even tough regular soap will clean grease and fat, they are no match for cleaning the amount found in a industreal kitchen. you spray the enzyme and let it sit then you can literally just wipe a big smudge of built up grease clean off with no effort. Best part is that the enzyme we use is safe to eat
This feels like one of those games where I'd get tired of the dialogue after about 5 minutes.

It's interesting to see these indie games using AI voiceovers. I guess it's fine if the alternative was no voiceover at all, but it does feel a little soulless. Cool game though!

Looks decent. And I'm glad to see new games taking full advantage of generative AI for the dialog. Not as good as the real thing, but way better then just text.
I'd rather just have text rather than anything AI related. AI is a cheap copout for when someone has no skills.
@@crazysupernovagaming3638Normally I'd agree in the case of AI images or rendering techniques, but for voice over it makes sense. Voice work is very expensive for even decent quality, so for indie devs you either have a bunch of voice actors for friends or you do it yourself and it sucks so bad that it ruins an otherwise good game.
Game dev skills shouldn't need to include being a voice actor.
Even for large developers, leveraging AI to voice a huge RPG with thousands of random characters is going to happen.
