UFC on Fuel TV: Gustafsson vs. Silva (also known as UFC on Fuel TV 2 or UFC: Sweden) was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on April 14, 2012 at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
This was the first UFC event held in Sweden, and was the fastest selling European event in UFC history, selling out in three hours.
Gustafsson was expected to face Antônio Rogério Nogueira on 14 April 2012, at UFC on Fuel TV 2 in Stockholm, Sweden, but Nogueira pulled out of the fight due to an injury and was replaced by Thiago Silva. Gustafsson was able to effectively use his reach and jab to largely outstrike Silva, scoring points by knocking him down early in the first round as well as scoring a takedown in the second. His dominant performance earned him the unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, and 29-28) victory.
Just like after his previous win, it was again clear that Gustafsson was in need of another step up in competition, and UFC President Dana White said that his next fight would be against someone in the top of the rankings. - Zábava

Gustafsson was probably the best Boxer in that division, if he evolved more and added different technics he probably would have become champion.
this was visible in his second Jones fight and how Jones figured him out, he just needed more tools, Kinda like how Darren Till can hang with the best Strikers but he could do much better if he added more Kicks, Elbows, Angles and become a more complete Striker like Wonderboy and Adelasagna.
He stoped going to alliance, that's where he was evolving his game the most. He might stop by, but he needs to move to the states if he really wants to be the champ

Gus could have been a goat contender but he lacked speed. He relied on timing and deceptive angles to land strikes. If you’re a tall guy with long limbs you need speed to counter the punishment you’re going to take and Gus just didn’t have it.
