UFC on Fox: dos Santos vs. Miocic (also known as UFC on Fox 13) was a mixed martial arts event held at U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 13, 2014.
The event was the first that the organization hosted in Arizona. Zuffa previously hosted the final World Extreme Cagefighting event, WEC 53, in nearby Glendale in 2010.
The fight card was headlined by a heavyweight bout between Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic.
Dos Santos won the back-and-forth fight via unanimous decision. The performance earned both participants Fight of the Night honors. - Zábava
I remember thinking dos santos was gonna be the best heavyweight of all time. He was never the same after that 2nd cain fight.
Facts!
I dunno, I mean this was after the second Cain fight... He still looked pretty good. And he still beat Rothwell, Lewis, and Taivasa after this even. I think he is just aging, damage catching up to him, and the competition getting better and better. You could say he was pretty much done after he fought Francis. And then the shoulder injury in his last fight.
This fight shows you how really good Cain was, he was never the same after all those knee injuries.
I think even Cain was just a bad man against Junior
The damage he took accumulated but in his prime he was genuinely capable of beating ANYONE. And that fact that he’s the ONLY man with legitimate wins over both a prime Cain AND prime Stipe (both considered GOAT ufc HWs) speaks for itself. I think a prime JDS would fvck Jon Jones up and give Francis and Aspinall real problems.

People forget how good Dos Santos really was! He was excellent at using his boxing skill in the cage and he was an underrated fighter because he preferred to stand and punch. Everyone calls Stipe a wrestler but he was a golden gloves boxing champ before he did MMA and he used his boxing a lot in the cage!
I really wanted JDS to fight Jon Jones back in the day because he would have exposed all of his weaknesses.

@@jerryon9367 DS was a beast! He knocked out Velazquez in a minute! His hands were scary! Look at the list of guys he beat! Velazquez, Miocic, Hunt, Lewis, Rothwell, big Nog, Mir and others, he ran through a bunch of top contenders and champs like it was nothing! He knew how to grapple too but he said himself he was more of a straight boxer style and preferred to stand and trade than grapple.
JDS from 2008-2014 was an animal.

Junior Dis Santos was an absolute beast in this fight. Stipe was relentless as well and no quit in either fighter. Two absolute warriors but it was definitely Junior's night that night.

JDS in his prime truly was one of THE greatest all time heavyweights in mma history. The only thing I can think of when criticizing his skillset is lack of head movement, he ate more shots than he should have and eventually all that damage piled up and he simply wasn’t that same fleet-footed iron chinned killer anymore. But his resume is impeccable: Legit wins over a prime Cain, prime Stipe, prime Shane Carwin, also beat former K1 champion Mark Hunt in a striking battle with a fucking spinning back kick KO, and even in his twilight years managed to beat Tuivasa, Lewis, and Rothwell on top of stuffing every one of Curtis Blaydes’ takedown attempts. His chin just couldn’t keep up with the battering but a prime JDS could beat ANY HW (including the current cream of the cop) on any given night.
