i have no idea why i keep watching this..
as a european city dweller, im not even close to this lifestyle, but somehow i cant stop watching and enjoying every minute of it.
litteraly same, it's just so satisfying and interesting
that's what youtube is for. so kindof experiance all the things you would never be able to do in your own life
Fake ducks would be good markers for the brush piles.
That's actually genius I've never thought of that
This man knows!
I didn’t know Mensa members occupied the chat 🤯
Until many other ducks are lured by the decoys and fill the pond making it hard to see which duck is which . Maybe ?
@@lindacarruthers3423 if you can’t tell the fake duck you put out from a real duck swimming around you got other issues lmao
Once the pond is filled, could you go over these structures with sonar and show us the screen versus actual pictures of the structures? Might help guys like me who aren’t good with sonar understand a little bit more about what we’re seeing on screen in comparison to what’s actually there.
I hope that leaving this comment under yours bumps this for him to see.
This would be awesome
Brilliant idea
@@trentw26 I hope that leaving this comment under yours bumps this for him to see
What a fantastic idea mate I would love to see that as well 👍
This is a pretty insane build.
hm? your speaking mazda miata
Better than most car builds I see
I truly don't know how this wound up in my algorithm. I'm an I.T. guy who hasn't fished in 15 years. But dammit I love this pond build and legit look forward to watching a new vid ASAP
same not sure who this guy is but im loving the build
I randomly got an auqascape video a year or so ago of them doing the backyard pond for BamaBass, got "hooked" instantly and watch ever video of theirs now.
Same IT guy that lives in a condo in Seattle on the 14th floor, but still fascinated by this build.
You're not the only one. CZcams knows what we would be interested in watching, before we even know it, scary.
the algorithm knows what you want before you do...
Everyone’s addicted to watching outer-banks and I’m just so thrilled everytime a new bamabass video comes out😂
😂😂
Lol i finished S2 in a matter of 2 days after it came out
i finished outerbanks in two days and ive been watching this pond series since it started lol
Me too. I can't wait til Sundays to catch the video
I agree
New Orleans local here! Watching the pond build on generator power
11:15 "the sea meant did harden" gotta love that southern way of talkin! 👍👍
Run the flex conduit through some cinder blocks. It’ll anchor the conduit without penetrating the clay blanket and provide a little bit more hiding spots for young bait fish.
Frl
Or just go pole to pole from land to island and just make sure the height is enough for you to comfortably drive a boat thru.
@@jmass8699 until someone casts a line into it.
I wonder if it will chafe against the inside of the blocks and rub through the insulation…..Not trying to be a negative nancy, just trying to help brainstorm 🧠
Run the marine grade along the pond floor. then put 8 inches of clay on top along the whole wire. Gravel on top to mark the spot.
You have put your blood, sweat, and tears into this build. A lot of money too, I imagine. Love seeing the progress of pond build. Thanks for sharing it! 🎣👍🏼
Yes thank you! Never thought I’d be waiting for the next episode of a guys pond build but here I am across the country excited to see the update! Haha
Yea it was bad but we tough down here in n.o
I’m from Alabama and I’m very confident that rainfall will fill up your pond in very little time.
That is Sarah's pond. She will remember forever. Great job, dude.
Fisherman friendly Powerline? Just run the cable through a garden hose and cover it up with an inch of substrate, peagravel or maybe sand or just dirt. If you are feeling adventurous you can make an inch deep cut in the clay blanket, just deep enough for the hose to sit in it, then the substrate on top. You are going to need a few shovels of substrate, but it sure won't be hookable. Also, I freaking love this series :)
Also: Let a electrician do the job. There is probably nothing we can do to ensure the actual safety of the Powerline.
I’d make sure it’s a reinforced hose at the very least. You don’t want a big bass hook to puncture a hole accidentally.
Also love this series. Jealous I’m 2000 miles away and will never see it in person
I hate finding these.... Hire a real electrician and don't cause a fire hazard...
@@NoalFarstrider As an Electrician myself it is very frustrating reading all these peoples extremely dangerous recommendations.
@@filip20101 Hire an Electrician to do the work properly is my recommendation. They will know how to do the job safely and legally for the area he lives in. I'm not going to give out advice over the internet as I'm in Australia and we have different wiring rules here and standards to follow.
When I was a child, Sunday nights was Simpsons and In Living Color........now Sunday nights are all about new Bama Bass!!! Thank you for the wonderful content. GOD Bless Your Family
In living color lololol
You must be a gen-xer
Marking everything with floats is a great idea. if you were to use some decoys (ducks, geese, etc,) you might pull in some other water fowl as well. i would lean more to the ascetics of decoys over florescent green buoys.
I like your idea better than the green floats. They seem like an eye sore on this nice pond build.
That is an insanely good idea
Solid suggestion.
my fiancé & I have been keeping up with your videos. thank you for giving us something to look forward to. been much more entertaining than watching Netflix!!
Who else has been waiting for this update all day?
You should put in some Boulder structures..it would be pretty beneficial.
I was thinking the same thing!
It would be cool but the fish wouldn’t think it would be
@@brodyb301 rocks/boulders would be heaven for crawdads. Great for bass fry and many other things as well
I am more jealous of your property as anything I have ever encountered. Truly an earthly paradise.
that little girl is living the life! great job dad!
can't believe how "Hooked" I am on your pond , can't wait to see it full .
13:11 Face of pure joy, yall are awesome parents. Her face says it all. This world would be better off if more parents took their kids to a pond and let them have fun
Right now this vid is #17 on the Trending page of CZcams, congratulations Bamabass!!
You have put your blood, sweat, and tears into this build. A lot of money too, I imagine. Love seeing the progress of pond build. Thanks for sharing it! 🎣👍
a kings ransom. with solar LED road blocks along the edge that provide light it may be a place to visit.
You’re living the dream man 😭🤩
Been watching this for awhile now... Don't remember if I've commented before.. This is a pretty insane build. I love it. Your family for generations will be able to enjoy this. Creating a legend and decades of memories.
Just sprained my ankle and your channel is the only thing giving me entertainment
Man you are one lucky SOB compaired to what alot of others lost. Earlier I was going to tell you to forget the pond. Go and save your house.
I can’t wait to see you cast your first line in to the water and FINALLY be able to enjoy all of your hard work
You could add artificial birds as markers. That way it adds to the pond and you know where your structures are at!!!
Good idea, decoys would look better than buoys!
@infoslinger I have one. The blue herons and the osprey ignored it.
Ur daughter is going to love growing up with that pond. Beautiful property btw
We got hammered in Ascension Parish. I just got electricity back after 8 days, and finally sat down to relax in the A/C to watch this.
I know you already had your signs made. But you should make one that says “Sarah’s Swimmin’ Hole”. Maybe get some sand to make a little beach for her
Awww that's an adorable idea
Great idea. What a cutie!
Are you going to plant the pond up with aquatic plants and if so what are you going to use?
I would definitely recommend that you do plant it out and create a good ecosystem!
Yes, and do you think you need to add a organic layer on top of clay in shallow areas to help with plant growth?
I also was curious about whether he is going to place any aquatic plants. Not a bad idea.
Contact Dustin @ Dustin's Fish Tanks. He has 2 greenhouses and sells aquatic plants. I'm sure he could help and possibly give you good deal.
Checking in from Thibodaux LA. Hurricane IDA was intense. My 1 acre pond build is now postponed till 2023. Ida took it to us. But watching this keeps me hopeful to have a spread like this one day! Keep the updates coming.
Surprised more people don't comment on the quality of the deer he's picking up on his game cams. He's building paradise on earth right here
For the Electricity, run the marine cable through the conduit, But to keep everything in place run the conduit through some cinder blocks. Straight line from the bank to Alcatraz island, conduit through the cinder blocks. Done. It wont float and get caught by fisherman and you know its secure. It will also add more hiding places for bait fish in the shallows.
Good idea, it wont mess up the clay bed, its cheap and you can easily move it if ever needed.
does anyone else realize that he was going to make Alcatraz a safe haven for ducks (or what ever) but if the predators have the power of flight that won’t work
@@slayerthings850 Ducks will probably be safe from owls and coyotes when its full.
Such an odd thing to be hooked into watching, yet, here I am; now three videos in, fascinated by it all, and eagerly awaiting the next instalment! geez...haha
Is like a cliffhanger! Can't WAIT to see it full of water!!
Sarah is so cute. Puts a smile on my face every time.
I like the signs, this is going to be a fisherman's paradise. I have fish some nice structure ponds, but yours will be the Disney of ponds.
This build showed up 3-4 weeks ago. I've gone back and watched all, now been a sub from 1st time. Going to watch always want to see family fishing the pond !!!!!
This is my favorite series on CZcams at the moment, keep it up!!
This is the only show I look forward to every week
That Owl flying right toward the camera at night was super cool!
I was kind of disappointed about the pond not being filled by ida. I can’t wait to buy me some land… Great video👍🏾
Same rly wanted it to fill all the way up
I feel ya except I rather see the regular dock instead of a floating one.
Agreed. Makes me think the clay layer isn’t holding the water in properly.
I think he removed the video of the pond being full.
@@mitchs36s I think people thinking the outskirts of a hurricane are going to fill that pond are bit naive. That is A LOT of volume to fill.
The wood signs look awesome!!!
Yayyy. We're #18 on trending right now!! So awesome keep up the hard work and roll tide.. just couple hours north of you
I would find myself constantly checking CZcams for an update, hoping that you and your family was safe.
Been chomping at the bit for the hurricane result video to come out. Lookin good.
Moby is almost a tank man!!! Glad y’all stayed safe during the hurricane.
Wow! Good or bad, I really thought you would have gotten more rain...figured it would have come close to filling the pond. Glad to see that for the most part, everything worked out according to plans. Who would have thought that owls would have been your squirrel nappers!!!
This is quality content right here.
At some point you’re going to have to have a fishing tournament open to all your followers. I’d definitely love seeing this in person.
I know you don’t want to have this fishing hole overused and I know everyone who is following you wants the same thing. You and your family have sacrificed so much time and MONEY to build this. I hope and pray everyone respects you for all of your efforts and allows your project to fully develop into a wonderful experience I know it will be some day.
Love the series can’t wait to see it all finished!
I love when he says “folks at home”
The wooden signs are beautiful.
So glad this series is getting a lot of views. Y’all NEED some more subscribers!!! 👊
You should put a picnic table on Alcatraz Island, then you could swim over with a floating picnic basket and have a nice lunch.
Dang. This pond is gonna be killer. Can’t wait to see it when full. The wildlife there is the icing on the cake. Nice job!
Hate when the end of these videos come around. Now I have to wait a whole week to get a step closer. Beautiful layout of that pond.
Fisherman friendly power to the island would be easy with a small solar panel. No need to worry about hooking cords. You would get plenty of sunlight and it would easily power light and what ever else you put on the island.
I'd go with a Bluetti EB240 and 2 pcs solar panel. Alcatraz has to be off-grid!
I use a 300 watt panel mounted to two post with a box built underneath for the battery and air pump on my island . One large marine battery keeps the air pump running for a few hours after sunset . I also occasionally run a small water pump for a decortive waterfall but it uses much more power than the air pump . A 150 watt inverter tucked away inside the box allows me to use anything I need to use when out there .
This honestly is a great series
A big tree on alcatraz island would look epic, giving shade and roots giving cover for bait but it would make it tricky fishing from the island. The tree's name could be the tree of life or something😂
I'm really invested in this build
I can't wait to see Moby in the backyard pond crushing the shiners
i dont have any suggestions on how to get power to the island, but i was thinking it might be nice if the ducks have a house to avoid other predators there. you could maybe use the duckhouse to hide the power stuff so its not an eyesore.
well once the pond fills up they will be protected
@@peyton.simpson not from hooter and hooter's friend chilling on the island eating the rodents. i wouldnt be terribly surprised to see them prey on ducks
Ducks really don't use cover unless they are on eggs
Cant wait to see the finished product on this pond build! Look forward to new uploads every week. One suggestion for the dock name, you could call it "Moby Dock."
What a great legacy for your grandkids, and beyond.
That's so cool. It's taking shape. Can't wait till it's full. The wildlife is just an extra treat. Thanks.
I’m from the UK, Leeds to be precise & I don’t have a clue how I started this season but I love it…
I look forward to these updates every Sunday. Netflix should pick up this series. Would love a quick backyard pond update on the next video. Curious how Bonnie and Clyde are doing.
Been wondering how Bonnie and Clyde are doing as well been a couple weeks
Viewer from New Orleans here. Still out of power, theres little flooding in my area. entire electrical tower that powers essentially all of the city fell into the Mississippi. Thank god our house survived the storm but lots of people lost everything.
The pond videos are epic and I've been loving them! A lot of folks living in rural areas who suddenly have cats missing blame coyotes for it. They don't think about Owls who in some cases are the main suspect!
I think I lost a min pin to an owl at my ranch.
@@cygnus1965 Sorry to hear that buddy.
Thanks, owls are no joke. After talking to someone that is a falconer I learned a lot about them birds of prey. They don't make good bird for the sport because they are programed to do that one thing. Kill, eat, repeat. His hawks and falcons like the hunt and bringing the prey back for rewards. Owls just won't.
Live and learn. When I see an owl around here I do what ever it takes to scare them off.
You'll have a great setup when all is done. 2 thoughts I had while watching this: First I'd really not want to hassle with mowing Alcatraz if I were you, so I would research some different ground covers that stay short on their own. Maybe white clover. People use it for lawns and it feeds the bees! Second, If you don't want those buoy getting caught as the pond fills just set them on the highest part of whatever structure they are attached and stick them there with a dab of water washable glue. Assuming they do not blow down in another storm they should say there until the water tries to lift them off while also dissolving the glue.
Instead of the green buoys you should use a plastic duck buoy, or some other type of bird. Just so it looks natural.
It’ll look tacky once the sun bleaches it
@@agustusfarnworth3379 They're cheap enough to replace when needed. Or use wooden ones and paint them to stay fresh.
@@agustusfarnworth3379 I guess tacky is their style as well as a bunch of other people!
They've decided to use duck decoys instead.
I honestly not sure why am I so hooked into this channel. 🤔 I'd love to own some land like this.
Get some of that orange fiber optic pipe/conduit to run your electrical wire through. It's continuous without any joints to leak. You could anchor it with concrete blocks marketing it with buoys... we did that across our pond to a picnic point.
Use a conduit Bending Spring to form solid conduit to the contours of the ground then cover in boulders. Flex conduit is ok but as an Electrician I would recommend rigid conduit for longevity. Tie rope to the Bending Spring to pull through the conduit.
It'd be more work, but it would certainly shrug off the hooks.
Just cover the marine grade wiring under some cheap number 57 bluestone or something. That will silt in over time anyway and therefore you haven’t messed with your water proofing clay layer. Or you could run it through some partially buried cinder blocks. This will be fishing resistant plus double as some smaller fish habitat. Just a thought.
Greetings from NYC. This city boy is enjoying the hell out of these videos.
Bury your electrical wire under river rocks. It ads structure as well as protection. You also need several large piles of rocks in your pond for the crayfish to hide in. They will be a great food source for your fish. Get some old water troughs and plant lily pads in them for shade and cover. The troughs will keep the roots from making holes in your clay.
Can’t wait to see more progress of the pound it looks great!
I’m thinking the plywood on the Shade Shack won’t last very long once it’s underwater. I’d frame around the tops of the uprights with 2x4’s, then top the whole thing with 2x4’s (like a 2x4 workbench). Loving the whole pond series!!
I would use pvc conduit, heat to bend it and J-hooks made out of rebar to hold it in place. Your doing a wonderful job on the pond!! Very enjoyable to watch. Keep it coming.
I’m so jealous right now lol. I’ve enjoyed watching these videos. Thank you
It's funny I'm sitting here watching this, listening to you talk about Ida, while I watch a torrential monsoon storm out my window! Good times.
Hope everything goes well! Stay safe
Wow looks awesome guys!.....what a feeling it must be to be able to do such a cool thing...cant wait to see you launch your boat out on it!
Run your marine grade wire inside the plastic flexible conduit through the middle of a line of those cinder blocks you always have around heading out to Alcatraz island. Love this series, what a project!
From the UK👍
It was very good to see a young one playing in the dirt. 🙏🏻🙌👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
Such a great series!
Such an interesting series. Your going to enjoy it for years to come. I think you should definitely find a way to put on the grill on the valve to ensure you don't loose any fish if you have to empty it at any point.
Why would viewers put a thumbs down? You guys are doing awesome! Looks great!
The fact that you even had the idea to start this project is insane!! Awesome job 👏🏼
Best series ever! I love these videos, I get so excited when I see a new video
Please still put the guard over the emergency valve. The water can be refilled but you can't go get the bass back from the creak.
Not quickly… although I bet our man is a mean angler!!
best series on youtube
This is my favorite channel of all time keep up the good work!!!!
Need to use some riprap rock for the erosion control where your water comes in you'll never have that problem again.
As for the electrical that soft flex will snag a hook also just use pvc and set some blocks on it. If you need it to contour to the bottom heat it a little with a torch and bend it to what you need.
For the power cable you could use clear rubber hosing from an aquarium supplier because it will be able to flex easily and still be water tight as well as the benefit of being able to make sure that it's easily anchored to the pond bed via cinder blocks and cable ties.
As to planting out the pond I recommend that you use sagittaria, valnisaria, large amazon swords and large anubias!
HOLY MOLY BAMABASS IS TRENDING!!! In other news, you seem really down about that drain pipe filter. I would drain the pond and weld it so you leave no stone left unturned. The best time may have been "yesterday", but the second best time to do it is "today".
The algorithm gave me one of these videos and I can’t wait to see it finished
