    Fisherman friendly Powerline? Just run the cable through a garden hose and cover it up with an inch of substrate, peagravel or maybe sand or just dirt. If you are feeling adventurous you can make an inch deep cut in the clay blanket, just deep enough for the hose to sit in it, then the substrate on top. You are going to need a few shovels of substrate, but it sure won't be hookable. Also, I freaking love this series :)
    Also: Let a electrician do the job. There is probably nothing we can do to ensure the actual safety of the Powerline.

    Viewer from New Orleans here. Still out of power, theres little flooding in my area. entire electrical tower that powers essentially all of the city fell into the Mississippi. Thank god our house survived the storm but lots of people lost everything.

    The pond videos are epic and I've been loving them! A lot of folks living in rural areas who suddenly have cats missing blame coyotes for it. They don't think about Owls who in some cases are the main suspect!

      Thanks, owls are no joke. After talking to someone that is a falconer I learned a lot about them birds of prey. They don't make good bird for the sport because they are programed to do that one thing. Kill, eat, repeat. His hawks and falcons like the hunt and bringing the prey back for rewards. Owls just won't.
      Live and learn. When I see an owl around here I do what ever it takes to scare them off.

    You'll have a great setup when all is done. 2 thoughts I had while watching this: First I'd really not want to hassle with mowing Alcatraz if I were you, so I would research some different ground covers that stay short on their own. Maybe white clover. People use it for lawns and it feeds the bees! Second, If you don't want those buoy getting caught as the pond fills just set them on the highest part of whatever structure they are attached and stick them there with a dab of water washable glue. Assuming they do not blow down in another storm they should say there until the water tries to lift them off while also dissolving the glue.

    Instead of the green buoys you should use a plastic duck buoy, or some other type of bird. Just so it looks natural.

    Get some of that orange fiber optic pipe/conduit to run your electrical wire through. It's continuous without any joints to leak. You could anchor it with concrete blocks marketing it with buoys... we did that across our pond to a picnic point.

  • @scoobiesnackz
    @scoobiesnackz Před 2 lety +10

    Use a conduit Bending Spring to form solid conduit to the contours of the ground then cover in boulders. Flex conduit is ok but as an Electrician I would recommend rigid conduit for longevity. Tie rope to the Bending Spring to pull through the conduit.

    Just cover the marine grade wiring under some cheap number 57 bluestone or something. That will silt in over time anyway and therefore you haven’t messed with your water proofing clay layer. Or you could run it through some partially buried cinder blocks. This will be fishing resistant plus double as some smaller fish habitat. Just a thought.

    Bury your electrical wire under river rocks. It ads structure as well as protection. You also need several large piles of rocks in your pond for the crayfish to hide in. They will be a great food source for your fish. Get some old water troughs and plant lily pads in them for shade and cover. The troughs will keep the roots from making holes in your clay.

    I’m thinking the plywood on the Shade Shack won’t last very long once it’s underwater. I’d frame around the tops of the uprights with 2x4’s, then top the whole thing with 2x4’s (like a 2x4 workbench). Loving the whole pond series!!

    Need to use some riprap rock for the erosion control where your water comes in you'll never have that problem again.
    As for the electrical that soft flex will snag a hook also just use pvc and set some blocks on it. If you need it to contour to the bottom heat it a little with a torch and bend it to what you need.

  • @rohantherockwiththerocketh7871

    For the power cable you could use clear rubber hosing from an aquarium supplier because it will be able to flex easily and still be water tight as well as the benefit of being able to make sure that it's easily anchored to the pond bed via cinder blocks and cable ties.
    As to planting out the pond I recommend that you use sagittaria, valnisaria, large amazon swords and large anubias!
