In this video men's style, grooming and fitness expert, Aaron Marino of www.iamalpham.com, reviews the hot new men's curated clothing box service, Men's Style Lab. Men's Style Lab is a cool new online option for guys who don't want to shop, hate to shop, don't have time to shop or just like getting super stylish clothes sent to their door.
Aaron Marino of alpha m. has been getting a ton of emails from viewers about the various boxed concierge services. After you sign-up, a stylists 'crafts' a box specifically for you. You get sent a box, and you get charged for the clothing that you keep. It's beautiful for guys who don't have time to shop, don't like to shop, or have no idea what is stylish. TrunkClub and Men's Style Lab are the two big players. Alpha selected Men's Style Lab as the boxed club to try.
He dug the survey because regular people are pictured in the styles they recommend. The cool thing was the analysis. A stylists contacts you after going over your profile. The idea is that after talking ot you and analyzing your profile, they're able to hand-pick (curate) items for your box.
The box has arrived! So is this super cool or a bust? The details are really nice- specifically a personal note from the stylist. They put together outfit combinations. Alpha displays the looks. He thinks the items are 'awesome'! He tries on the oxford and it fits perfectly. The jeans fit well, but the chinos are a bit too big. He is a 'fashionable kid in a candy store!' He displays look #1 which is exactly the kind of stuff Alpha wears! Outfit #2 has perfectly fitting jeans with a cool, fun, and fitted Henley. He's keeping 8 of the items.
In the envelope is the price list of all items sent. As far as the price, you're paying retail. You aren't paying more than in a store, but you're paying for the service. You can continue to work with the same stylist if you continue with the service. Alpha is super impressed. It couldn't be any easier. Men's Style Lab gets two enthusiastic thumbs-up from Alpha! - Jak na to + styl

+MuffHam Welcome to the world of high end, quality brands :/
+MuffHam its not wallmart when you have a stylist.
+MuffHam they pick everything for you. they have people that becomes your very personal stylist. and they send it directly to your door. that price is pretty normal.
+Ole I fucking hate Walmart it needs to die
+PriceTheAvocadoKing I highly doubt that these items are high quality, maybe but not worth that giant markup
Damn this guys energy is awesome.
You gotta love the internet. Who knew that there is service out there to help men improve their style. This is a great idea and thanks to Aaron for educating us. My only disappointment was that there wasn't a loin cloth in that box.
Love how your personality shines in this vid . . . not to mention how enthusiastic you are about opening your box and seeing how well the stylist did with your taste and style!
Aaron, love the positivity you send out to the viewers in each and every video you put out. Itäs a true pleasure to watch your videos.
I tried Mens style lab last month ... and I think I signed up over a year too late!
NO stylist contacted (phone nor email) me when I first committed to the service
The was NO personal note when i received the box
When I provided feedback along with some questions, there was NO response... the communication is pretty much nonexistent.
This review is older and shouldn't be relied on, the service is really not the same anymore... its gone downhill!
Just so you know Alpha, when you have a seal like that, you hold the envelope by the top and bottom with your thumbs on the seal and bend the envelope to break the seal. Or you can cut it with a knife.Bit classier. Either way, I wish I wasn't a poor unemployed 20 something, because this looks like a nice service for those of us, like myself, who really don't have much fashion sense.
ok looser
daniel bartonik ok loser who can't even spell "loser" gfy
Wow this is awesome. I hope there will be something similar in Europe.
Dude you have to be the coolest dude I know. I wish we could of grown up together and were best friends. Keep up the great work man. Your videos have helped me out in so many different ways. Thanks again.
Could've*
Tried this. Filled in the profile and gave the most helpful answers I could to the written questions. Also got my tailor to give me my exact measurements for pretty much everything.
The box came with a few shirts and two pants. Seemed pretty sparse, considering the things I'd said I wanted. All the clothes were too big, though I chose the slim option. Even assuming I gave my size wrong, they were still too baggy. Even if they'd fit perfectly, waiting nearly two weeks to receive a few shirts and pants is no way to build a wardrobe, guys.
I can see how this would be a solution for someone who absolutely refuses to take responsibility for his own style and wants to wear whatever some stranger chose for him. What I learned from this experience is that there is simply no substitute for going out there and trying things on yourself. After a few weeks of looking at Aaron's stuff, researching, looking at fashion sites, and taking notes, I actually enjoyed going around and scouting the stores, comparing, and choosing the basic pieces with which I'm building my wardrobe. I "hated" shopping before because I felt lost. Now that I have an idea what I'm doing and a sense of control, it's an adventure, not a chore.
There is nothing wrong with these services. They're sprouting up for a reason. Probably the same reason the average American guy is forty pounds overweight: complacency; laziness; the "let me be comfortable even if I go through life as an emasculated little man-child" Zeitgeist, take your pick. Point is, if you want to get serious about the way you look, don't bother with these. The only way I can imagine this kind of thing would be useful for a man who puts thought and effort into his clothes is if you already have a quality wardrobe and want to sign up for one of these services for fun, just to see what you'll get every month. Even then it seems kind of needless and is absolutely no serious way to build a stash.
I like the combinations that they sent!
Great personal stylist!
The penguin Henley totally rocks!
Thanks buddy, this was really helpful! I'm going to try this for sure
Alpha m dude you definitely inspires me with your videos awesome keep it up!
Damn the first two looks they've sent in the box are awesome
I really like this guy, im never really into style ( im lazy and insecure at times) but this guy motivates me to change my look!
What a fun video. That first look was amazing. Love the boots on you.
Any chance you'd do a similar video on a service that ship internationally?
I live in Hong Kong so I have a ton of options, but I suck at choosing clothes.
Great Episode! I'm interested in how you are going to integrate this plinth the alpha m project.
I had been wondering about that specific website. Thanks for taking a chance on it Aaron definitely gonna consider it more now.
Thx for the review! I'm gonna try this out :)
Thanks for your videos Aaron! Always a great experience.
Love those two looks on you!! They did a great job!
I've been interested in these services for a while since I absolutely hate the hassle of shopping and trying to pick stuff out off of a rack. I enjoy being stylish though, I might have to give this a go one time and see if I like it. Thanks, as always a great video.
I'm a new subscriber and really enjoy your knowledge and opinions. Thanks.
Aaron, I just came across your appearance on Shark Tank. Look at you now! You're hard work and perseverance inspires me. Keep it up bro
See I'm a university student who will be graduating next year. I feel like subscribing to one of these services will be great for collecting my professional wear for when I get a job
better do it before searching for a job, so you can get used to your new lifestyle and go in your "interviews" with more confidence. you will have more chances to enter the company you want to work for
Thans Hodor
Adam Cornish don't worry, that's how I got my job as a Bran carrier it worked
for a period of time ;) too soon? haha
yes , you just proof on youtube on public that you need five more years in high school
Hay Alpha
those boots look amazing i was wondering what brand it is, they're just the kind i love as well
FYI Anyone watching this sadly mens style lab went out of business due to the fact that customers were scamming them. They would use pre paid cards to order the box then when they went to charge the people for the stuff that wasnt sent back there was nothing on the cards. They were around $200,000 in debt because of it. So sadly they are gone
George Danu thanks for the info! Was wondering where they went :/
Those wingtip boots are awesome. What brand are they?
you and Antonio are fashion geniuses
That shirt fits you amazingly well Aaron!
that's an awesome idea...only, in order to send back the clothes you don't need, you'd have to try them on first, so what would they do with clothes that have been worn?
Awesome, a must try, it just makes things a lot easier
So basically you are paying for someone to pick out clothes that you might like when you could go out and get what you actually want and pay the same.
That's cool for someone who is a workaholic or lives in a really small town.
The problem for me (and I'd assume many other guys) is that I don't actually know what I want. Looking at outfits online and actually going to the mall to try and piece things together are two different things, so I see the appeal. I'll probably give this a try when I'm in the market for a wardrobe change. It doesn't hurt that they're based in my hometown either!
Jose Carlos Jaramillo Cortes I see what you mean.
Thomas Frank Yeah fair point.
also, for me I've nearly always found the clothes I want on sale. I can't remember the last time I paid retail for any clothing item.
I really like that first outfit you tried on, defo my kinda style. Nice video by the way.
You guys should try five four clothing club, very similar in style clothing but a lot cheaper
Can you discuss the price range for the items you picked? I am guessing $50-100 for most items, maybe $150 for the shoes - about right?
I just can’t help how much I love this guy.
How much does a box cost if you like all of it?
Great review! The 2 outfits were super stylish on you and nice fit! I'm going to check the site out for my husband. Thanks for sharing! You've got a fun & easy going personality! 👍😎 Peace..
This is so cool, I wish there's something like this in my country. Anyways, great video Alpha!
digging the first look. might have to find that.
do they adjust the clothing based on what you can spend? Like will they send 20-30 dollar items or just high end?
Awesome video Aaron, do you know if they offer the service in Europe/UK? Cheers.
I've had a subscription to Fashion Stork for the last few months and am liking most of what they have sent. I think there has only been one shipment where I didn't like the shirt they sent. It looked like something James May would wear. I actually signed up for it because of the review you did of them a while back.
Loved the review. I'm going to try it out.
Great stuff. Fun video. Thanks, Aaron!
Aaron, have you ever heard of the box service "Bombfell"? If so have you tried it? What are your thoughts about it?
Where is the black top you are wearing from?
So freaking awesome you did this!
Hey @Alpha m. this is a great service i went and signed up and everything was great but when it came to hight the max limit was 6'4" and i'm 6'8" i know its crazy. but i'm wondering if you know of any other services like Mens Style Lab which is made for tall guys. I'd appreciate any help if possible. Thanks!
Hey Alpha, I was wondering if I should wear socks with boat shoes or not. I don't like how it feels without the socks.
Interesting service I might have to check it out.
Great video! Might have to give MSL a try...
They're part of the entrepreneurial community here in Des Moines, so it's cool to see them getting some exposure. Now that I've actually seen what's in the box, I might actually give them a try too :)
how have I never found you before. dope video got yourself a new sub
Can you do a video reviewing this type of services? Not just clothing but many other out there accessories, tech etc even similar once to scent bird
Thanks Alpha. Just ordered.
How expensive is everything though? Sounds like a cool service but it seems like the keep what you want is the part that kills it because a lot of the time myself at least like a lot of clothes but end up not buying anything due to lack of funds and the high price of "stylish" clothing or shoes. I tend to go for things on sale that to me are stylish. I loved the clothes and shoes you got but those shoes are probably like $300 which is way out of my price range.
What online store would you recommend to get single "curated" outfits? For instance, something like the monthly package you get from FiveFourClub but getting a complete outfit(shoes, socks, pants, shirt, jacket, accesories). So something like this mens style lab but one single outfit?
You are awesome! Keep up the great work!!! If possible, you should do one video each time you receive a box!!! It's fun!
Alpha, I'm wondering if you've tried the Mantry. It is the same principle as a Birchbox or other types like that except it's food ingredients and recipes. If you have, what did you think about it? Thanks alpha!
Damn! That was such an awesome package! I so wish we had something similar in India. :'(
Seriously! :(
***** Hahahaha xD
Looks like there are a lot more Indian "Alpha M" viewers than I expected...I thought I was the only rare one.
Tony JK Haha.. Check out my channel if you are an avid AlphaM viewer. You just might like it! :)
Well i also want clothing subscription in india! Also this box service! That is cool!
the boots that u got look great.
just wanted to know what brand and the name of that type of boot.
thanks.
Do a video on prom/homecoming tuxedos or general celebration attire please. I'd like to know your opinion on the tuxedos?
how much did they pay you
That Penguin henley looks awesome!!
Definitely going to try
Aaron, what brand name boots did they send you?? thanks..I like them too..
Hey Aaron, what' s you preferred size and fit for Ben Sherman shirts?
hey alpha, can you suggest some similar services available in places like the UK, Europe etc. as nearly all of best services I find are US based. Thanks and keep it up.
I wanted to hate this gorgeous dude with muscles at first. But you're cool as hell bro, and super informative. I'm definitely signing up for style lab after seeing this. Subbed for sure!
Do you have any recommendations on Christmas gifts for someone who wears a lot of Tommy Hilfiger sweaters, and quarter zips?
Question what is the brand of those boots? I'm really diggin' it.
This is actually really neat; if I ever get extra cash to blow, I'm actually really interested in trying this out. :)
what cut jeans were for the first and second look? Boot cut, straight leg, loose, etc?
Love 💗 the video hope you kept those shoes 👞 really nice. A little suggestion not sure if you do this can you do follow up videos what you kept and prices?
I would love you to try Peter Manning NYC. It's for guys under 5'8" and as a shorter dude as well, one who doesn't order clothing online a lot it would really help me out if you gave a review on it! Plus it seems right up your alley!!
Ha, I got the penguin/penwing joke! Definitely going to check out MSL.
So far I love Fashion Stork but upset that it does not exist for women. The only thing that I have found is Trunk Club but there it is not a monthly/bi-monthly set rate you get items deal. Any idea of an alternative with similar quality clothes for women?
Great video man. Very classy and hip. You have my vote.
That Penguin shirt looks great!
Clothes look so good on mascular guys, one of the reasons Im working out to get big
all these cool services are in the U.S :(
if youre in the UK I saw on dragons den the other night there was a service like this called "enclothed", i havent tried them so i cant recommend them but i know the idea is the same.
We're spoiled ^.^ lol
SuperHarrHarr yeah, saw that, it lept into my mind during this video.
SuperHarrHarr same I saw that too, Peter got rekt
Five Four just opened shop in the UK. You can always give them a try, however the clothes are their own brand.
what club or something should I use do not like shopping for clothes and I have no sense of style and im color blind so I do not know how to pick clothes out do you have any suggestions
Can you do a Trendy Butler review ?
Nice outfits! Like them! Nice model! Whoop!whoop! I know someone that is built like u. I will suggest him that place! Thank u for the good work and inspiration!
What is the brand name of that v neck sweater? The gray vanilla colored one
Alpha M.- thanks for making this video. I went to go order my first box, but didn't go through with it, because I don't meet the size requirements. I'm 5'2 1/2 and wear a men's shoe 6 1/2. None of these measurements were able to be made when I went to Men's Style Lab. I got an email from them, and responded with my concerns. I've not heard back from them, and having difficulties getting a working phone number for them. Can you please help me out with this? Are there any other men's curated clothing box service?
Men's style lab is awesome, unfortunately everything I got was too small. I can't wait for my next box.
Aaron I have a hard time finding cloths that fix. The reason been my I am loosing weight do you have tips you might have for me?
I'm in Canada and both of the companies you mentioned do not ship to Canada. Is there any similar service for Canadians?
Hey Alpha have you tried Trendy Butler? You should def do a review of it please
Hey Alpha, could you please tell me the brand of the blue oxford shirt you wearing and the Dotted tie also. I really like them. I even emailed the menstylelab but they never responded. Thank you so much!!!!
Awesome review!
Dude.. You look like Patrick Dempsey.. Great review! How much was the total on what you kept? Tried going to Style lab..? Looks like their done? they run the website through Squarespace. It's now longer active.?
so whats the ball park price on all of those items.? looks great
Do you have a link for the boots? Or at least what company makes them?
Impressive service, and very helpful for men that might struggle with how to dress.
Great video, Aaron!
Aaron you did not mention how often they send you this box ? and is there a monthly fee etc... Can you explain those details?
Thanks
For the second look what shoes did you use ?
