Love the Core Fore but we can't mention them without including Bernie Williams. The man spent his whole career with the Yanks and won 4 Rings. Another absolute Yankee Legend
Bernie,I believe, belongs in the h.o.f.
oh yeah, Bernie Williams
I was at the Jeffrey Maier game in 1996. From my seat in the upper deck off of first base, all I saw was Jeter hit a home run and tie the game. I remember Davey Johnson came out and they announced the Orioles were protesting the game, but me and my family had literally no idea why.
While that became one of the most remembered moments of that post season, for me, in the stands, at that game, it was an important HR to tie the game, but the real hero and moment of that game was when Bernie hit the walk off home run to end the game. In the 4 train on the way home that night, it was Ber-nie Will-iams everyone was chanting while banging in the walls and roof of the train. Great memory, great Yankee.
Bernie Williams was not only a mediocre ball player. He sucks as a musician too. He can’t play guitar for shit
Yeah I don't know how he's left out, he got it started. My favorite Yankee just got it done.
Bernie should def be apart this,he was just as important as these 4
Agree. Core does not rhyme with 5. How about " prime 5?"
He couldn't make it they put something on the big screen that he said
Jeetz never ages, looks like he can still play ball ⚾ !
Haven’t heard that stadium this loud in a long ass time
When Old-Timers Day makes you feel old😂
I’m 47 now but All the years these four legends played were my greatest years of no kids no wife straight World Series championship partying 😂 miss the old stadium.
Same here though I'm a little younger.
same here. same age, same feelings
43
Glad I don't feel like this.
First time this year I felt fondly and proudly emotional about the Yankees
True enough!
George vs Hal
@@stephen8623Bingo De Dingo 😅
This just shows how fast life truly does go by
God I feel old. I was 18 back then.
I was 28 ,a newly wed,and my wife scored me 4 bleacher seats for game 6 of the '96 world series.... unbelievable!
Mariano Rivera is my personal Yankees GOAT. Yes, I understand there were better overall players in Yankees history, but he was the ultimate definition of a New York Yankee and the greatest closer in the history of the sport.
Mariano’s great but he’s no George Ruth
The guy is good - But he caused us the series with the BoSox. It was hard to swallow - depression for years over the lost. LOL!
Indeed!! You’re 100% totally right……
True, Mariano was no Ruth, but he is the nicest to EVER play the game. The ONE and ONLY player in MLB history to be unanimously voted into the Hall of Fame! He was that good and that nice. SO much, that no one could bring themselves to vote against him.
Got chills seeing the core 4 together again just like in my childhood. I'm 30 now, those guys and the 90-00s Yankees were no joke
Teared up 😢when I heard Bob Sheppard
Chills hearing his name chanted in the stadium like that. Sometimes when I go to bed at night I hear it. “De-rek Je-ter!” 👏🏼👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Please take us back to the 80s 90s and early 2000s please 😢❤
Legends never die
Unfortunately everyone does one day
It will be a very long time (if ever) we get to see an amazingly talented group of baseball players like this. Thank you for countless good memories.
As an old soul Yankees fan for 1998, the core four STILL give me the chills... i miss those days.
Mi eterno cápitan #2
As a kid growing up in North Jersey in the 90s, posters of these guys covered every inch of me and my brother's room. There were ups and downs but these guys were true competitors with endless heart. Always felt the team just wasnt the same after The Boss and the core four were gone. Like the team just had their fangs ripped out of them.
Ups and downs? They didn't really have any downs
This generation of Yankee greats look amazing for all being over 50 years old (OK Jeter's not quite there)... I could practically see them suiting up again! Here's to seeing all of them back at the stadium for another 50 years!
I'm old enough to remember the Old Timers Day when they played a game. I think it was my 12th birthday and DiMaggio homered into the lower deck in left field. You would not believe the cheering.
Man this is nostalgia for me at only 25. Andy Petite was my fav left hand pitcher and I always used Rivera's number on all my Jersey's playing little league and Jeter was my all time fav infielder. I miss these guys so much and I really hope to meat Jeter or Posada one day they were huge inspirations to me I remember as I would absolutely conquer the pitchback I had at 12 years old.
My childhood right here…
That's the team I grew up with!! 😍 The reason I feel in love with Baseball!! 🤗 I miss them!!
0:00 Yankees' new Manager from the 2024 season
0:17 Yankees' new Pitching Coach from the 2024 season
0:32 Yankees' new Bench Coach from the 2024 season
0:51 Yankee' new GM from the 2024 season
The only Yankees worth cheering this year.
This is a good sign. I think the captains on board. I hope he comes back & brings this team out of the dumpster and back winning again!
That would be most welcomed!! #2 helping us to be #1 again.
O Captain! My Captain! How we miss you in this sinking ship!!!
These guys actually cared about wearing the Pinstripes..😢
Posada looks like he can still play 👍🏾🏆
I was 16, grew up watching these guys. They were ALL bad asses, got heart and soul of the games. They play better with grit than this year Yanks. This is what we all miss😢
i remember when Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, and Joe DiMaggio....walked out on Old Timers Day....i cant get very excited over this
Love that Bob Sheppard was put on to introduce Derek Jeter 💯
I haven't watched a full game since jeter retired. My guy my whole childhood
I saw Matsui there too. What a lineup of chads.
Never was a core four, Bernie Williams made it five
Fab Five!
Bernie williams wasn't in Stadium today because he is the Hospital. Mickael key said it when they called all the players. Not only that Bernie give a message on the big screen of Yankees Stadium. That telling me that you din't see the trasmision from the begining😮
@@lidiacastillo1394 Do you know why he is in the hospital?
@@kingshawukee He had Surgery.. Michael Kay said it!
@@lidiacastillo1394 Ok lol I'm not arguing with you. I wasn't able to watch the game today because I was at work.
Of all of them, the one who has changed the least is Andy Pettite, the dude could still pitch in the majors😅
He should be in the h.o.f.
I promise you Mo can still pitch
"the next guy needs no introduction..." then proceeds to tell the story of his life
Michael Kay is a doofus
Derek Jeter is now in Yankees Old Timers welcome Captain
Baseball will never be the same to me after Mariano and Jeter retired it just isn’t the same
For a moment I thought Derek was going to the SS position like he did in the final game after driving in the winning run
Amazing moment
They never said Jeter's name. And you can see he is waiting for it and confused when it doesn't come and they just wave him out.
Where do they get these people that talk to Jeter on the steps. ManPower? Nobody is professional anymore. Michael Kay just cared about his long boring monologue I think Jeter was like just call my name!!!!! I wonder if the Yankees will have the batboy with a stache and hippie hair collecting the bats today? Maybe a ciggy hanging from his mouth.
They used Bob Sheppard’s voice to announce his name
Bernie is more deserved of the “Core Four” than Posada. Posada was a backup for the first two in 96/98 while Bernie carried the team. Change the name to Core Five. I know it doesn’t rhyme but it is accurate. Give Bernie his respect.
Give Jorge a little more respect for '98 - he was more of a platoon with Girardi than a backup. He caught 99 games and started games 1 and 2 and pinch hit for Girardi in game 3. I think maybe 6 times a week about how much we took Posada's talent and role on the team for granted. Not taking ANYTHING away from Bernie, but Yankee fans know Bernie was a part of that core. Just how they know Gene Michael built that dynasty, not Brian Cashman. I get so irked when they try and act like Cashman built 4 championship teams, he bought one and has completely destroyed this franchise today, fire the guy.
Fab Five!
A catcher is always more valuable than an outfielder, because there are so very few who can help the offense without killing you defensively.
@@GeraldM_inNC I agree, but I would argue Bernie had bigger moments with multiple October walk offs. Posada was critical as a pillar of the team, but is there a reason I'm thinking the biggest hit of his career was a bloop single in the 8th off Pedro to score Hideki in game 7 of the 2003 ALCS? Yankee fans let me know if I'm missing any bigger moment and while I'm at it - fuck Pedro Martinez I still hate that POS
DEREK JETER ❤❤❤❤❤
The reason I love baseball and for ever be a Yankee fan 🙏🏽 The Captain #2 my favorite player all time
Looks like all those guys could still put on the pinstripes and play especially Derek
No they don’t lol. Quit fooling yourself.
Love these Yankees! This was some of the best times of my life! I am so Grateful to have been able to watch them.
The Yankee Dynasty was from 1996-2001 and Bernie was the first homegrown player to kick in the door.
Not a Yankees fan here but what a core 4! Great players of their time and as a baseball fan I can appreciate this! So happy Sandman is retired he was lights out!
Beautiful!!
Those are four great players and part of the cornerstones of those Yankee championships
I think it should be the Yankees Magnificent Seven. The Core Four plus Bernie Williams, Paul O'Neil and Tino Martinez. That was the true core. I like to see those seven brought back with their manager Joe Torre.
Aged like fine wine
Love these guys. What happened to the yankees now!
Wow, it’s great to see that real Yankees team who won 3 peat . Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner should used that Yankees team winning formula
I love ❤ 👀 seeing ALL THE OLD-TIMERS YANKEES, especially "Sandman" Marino and "the Captain." Derek Jeter Also, El Duque"
Amazing…….
Thank you for that
Hard to see this. Time flies.
The guys are in town!
Wow, got chills seeing that!!! Simply the Best of the Best!! When Mo came in with Sandman playing, brought back such great memories!! Miss all of these guys!!😢
There will never be another Jeter. Also I do agree Bernie should really be included.
Good lord, I think even Jeter was like ok man STFU let me go
Don't let them leave town after the game. Hire them all to run the team and get rid of Cashman and his flunkies.
my favorite player ever.
So great to see Jeter in a Yankee jersey and Hat .
Looked better as a Marlins executive honestly
@@qman66 🤣 good one …
So happy I grew up as a kid watching these legends compared to the game that is today
The best three minutes of the ceremony. Hard to believe it’s been 25 years!
That's exactly my comment in the fall of 2048 when the Yankees clinch the wildcard spot. Hard to believe it's been 25 years!
everyone complained about yankees buying championships. but their core players of their team where all brought up from within their organization including bernie williams.
The captain
Next years old timers game will be a Zoom meeting on the big screen. Get your tickets now fans!
Not the same as in the old days when Mickey, Joe D., Whitey, and Yogi would wear the full uniform. And they played a game. But these are the Hal Steinbrenner Yankees who are focused on the bottom line and not championships. Buying full uniforms for the Old Timers would eat into profits.
I don’t mind the absence of a game. Always worried about someone getting hurt or worse. Remember when Phil Rizzuto took a ground ball off his face. Made for some funny jokes with Bill White, but that could have been serious.
Okay, love all these legends and the old Yanks, but two things.
Where is Bernie?
Why don’t they play an exhibition anymore?😢
"This man needs no introduction" Proceeds to introduce him in a 1200 word essay...
God im so glad i grew up watching these REAL yankees players instead of the crap Hal and Cashman are feeding us today
Derek needs a shave.....
I always loved Doug Jeter
Deret Jeter ese fue unos de los mejores del MLB en su tiempo
God bless them the joy they gave us you will. Ever see it again they played to play not for the money!
2:54 2:54
❤❤❤
Defo could use them now......
Damn it Jeter. U needed to shave for this special day.😂😂
Greatest relief pitcher in MLB History. Enter the Sandman - Mariano Rivera.
One of best squad in mlb, yankees history😂😂😂
JETER THE GOAT YANKEE OF MY LIFETIME
Kirsty Cotton : We were awesome!
James L. Anderson : Bodacious!
Tiffany : Bitchin'!
Teenage Andy Barclay : Uh...
James L. Anderson : Gnarly!
Kirsty Cotton : Radical!
Tiffany : Totally tubular, dude!
James L. Anderson : Wicked!
Kirsty Cotton : Hellacious!
Teenage Andy Barclay : Uh, mega...
[Splinter clears his throat, the Turtles clam up]
Neil Gordon: I have always liked... Core Four.
James , Kirsty , Teenage Andy , Tiffany : CORE FOUR!
Neil Gordon : [laughs] I made a funny!
the more we get away from that team the more I appreciate and love Mo... so classy, as one of the greatest players ever who never was the center of attention... I love the core four, I love Jete, I love bernie, love Tino, but no one... no one even approaches Mo, I can just see his setup for a pitch in my mind every time, that perfect form, that steel... damn.... I am glad I got to see him play, that was an honor.
Love jeter
"Cuántas leyendas vivas de un solo equipo"
G
New GM Derrek Jeter
Cashmans best acquisitions!!
Come on cash get us another 2 or 3 to build core 4 v2 along with Judge and Cole
Bernie shouldve got the invite .. big boss wouldve wanted that too
It should be the core 5 with Bernie Williams included.
Dónde estás Bernave Williams 😮.
So glad I grew up with these Yankees instead of the crap they put on the field today.
These guys were so good that even today they are still hated, especially down ATL way.
Bernie is core 4, Rivera was the extra sauce.
How come they didn't play?
MLB Network is doing a pre-game program on the Yankees and Bosox...lol
Derek Jeter will give fans goodie bags😂😂😂
