Who would have thought that it would end with a walk off home run? Couldn't have asked for a better ending none other than that. A very exciting and entertaining game both the Yankees and White Sox put on display in the Field of Dreams game in Iowa.
I think it should have been played live on CZcams.

The scenes, the perfect weather, the way the game played out. It literally was straight from a movie.
Some of the sunset shots were so much like the movie's last scene ...it was surreal!!!!!
@@metzilla Very much so. The only negative was the average cost for a ticket, apparently, was $3000, keeping the everyday fan away. But, it was a very unique event, so it is expected I guess.

Iowa also should consider holding the high school baseball state tournament at the field.

For everything Major League Baseball has gotten wrong the last 30 or 40 years, they got this so right please please please play a game here every year. Remember playing catch with my dad years ago and how much I love the game and the Love of the Game that was instilled in me. This brought back a flood of memories. Last night's game truly did remind us of all that was great and could be again

I never want them to play another game on this field. Let this games memory be it for Iowa. MLB should build a field in Alaska or South Dakota with Mt Rushmore in the background or New Mexico or Idaho or Maine. MLB can do something magical every 5 years.

I didn't grow up with baseball so I can't imagine what this moment must be for people who did. But what a powerful and emotional moment that really moved me. I will remember this always and will come back for a visit sometimes as well. Just magic.
For this 60+ year old....watching that intro had the same effect as the movie had on me 30 years ago. Moved to tears, because they both remind me of the way I remember baseball as a child. Thank you Mr. Costner, thank you MLB 👍

I got in tears. Kevin Costner is one of the greatest actors. The way he gazed as he was walking on the field, the way he greeted the players, the way he delivered his speech, he knows how to deliver. When I was living in Japan, he came to Japan for the premier of bodyguard. I remember how the Japanese media got mesmerized with his manners and humbleness. This short film deserves a stranding ovation.

When I was there back in late summer 2009..that's the first thing I thought of. Hearing James Horner's music as I walked around the outfield. And yes I got the chills too..

Not gonna lie to you, me and my dad watched this in the car while going to get groceries. I seen a tear in my fathers eyes, I could barely hold back my own but I stayed strong, we lost my brother and his son early 2020 and all three us played baseball since we could throw a ball. My father won a gold in softball with Team Canada at some tournament in the 90s, he loves the game and sports so much in general. Tomorrow is his birthday. Love you dad.

I was in attendance and it was by far the best sporting event I ever attended..MLB hit a home run on this !!! Coolest part was in order to get to the game you had to enter through the corn in center field on the original field of dreams field Everything was just so well planned out.
I'm not gonna lie, you made me a little jelly! But really, awesome you got to witness baseball history. This one will be remembered for so much.

I still come back to this every once in a while because of how amazingly beautiful this whole game was. The presentation, the pregame, and the game itself being so close and nail-biting.
The whole intro and game were beautiful. Having Kevin Costner open, and walk out onto the field was great. Then, seeing BOTH TEAMS come out together from the corn was amazing! Breathtaking! The whole intro was perfectly executed. Amazing job. Well done.
Absolutely beautiful! My dad played high school baseball in Davenport, Iowa in the 1950s. I’ve been to the Field of Dreams twice; it is truly a magical place.

It was the first film I ever seen in a movie theater and thank God because it's been my favorite movie since! And then after I watched the second disc from the box set which was " THE MAKING OF FIELD OF DREAMS" the movie I thought I couldn't love anymore... I LOVED TWICE AS MUCH! I urge you to read what I wrote and then maybe look into it yourself because if you love this movie the way I did and still do you'll get chills as you watch this! Thanks buddy.
BTW... A week later I seen my 2nd BIG SCREEN FILM and what turned out to be my second favorite movie and a classic forever. "BEETLEJUICE!" IT BLOWS MY MIND THAT THOSE TWO AMAZING MOVIES WERE IN THEATERS AT THE SAME TIME 🤯

The most beautiful event I’ve ever witnessed. The game was pure today.
This was one of my husband's favorite movies. He would have loved this. He died five months after watching his beloved cubs win the World Series in Cleveland. He was thrilled that night.

I teared up remembering what baseball USED to be like, when I was a kid in the 90’s. No politics, no division, no hatred, just good ole baseball. Maybe we can one day have that again.

My Dad died when I was 17. We both loved this movie, the ending and baseball in general .Im 35 now and due to the passing of time has naturally accepted the fact he's gone and moved on.
I was pumped for this game bc it seemed pretty cool but I wasnt expecting the surge of emotion it brought....I cried like a baby watching this game and thinking of him. Miss you big guy.

Not only did it bring me chills watching it live, it still gives me chills, not only one of the greatest moment's in baseball, but in all sports!

Sports has gotten so caught up in billion dollar stadiums, million dollar contracts flashy uniforms. Sometimes you got to dial back a bit. Hockey did it right with starting to play games outside. It brought back a humbleness and nostalgia to the sport.Hope this catches on. It was beautiful to watch.

This game should be played on Father's day every year.
Never a baseball fan and neither was my father but this is best suggestion I have ever heard. And players should bring out one of their children during opening. MLB make this happen. (Extra bonus usually most teams aren’t totally out of running for the playoff by Father’s Day so you won’t end up with a possible meaningless game between 2 last place teams in mid August). Take a bow sir.

I teared up remembering what baseball USED to be like, when I was a kid in the 90’s. No politics, no division, no hatred, just good ole baseball. Maybe we can one day have that again.

This is truly why we watch sports no matter the discipline. No politics, no statements, no disputes. The intro and the entire game was truly a thing of beauty. Pure magic and nostalgia for me. This is truly like nothing that has been done in sports to bring us back to our childhoods. "Is this Heaven?" Pretty close to it. Thank you for bringing this 45 year old man to tears with happiness. This has to be a yearly event for MLB.
The second time baseball has brought me to tears. The first was seeing a perfect game in my lifetime which was tossed by a friend I played little league with ( not going to name drop) and now this entrance and and short beautiful speech by Kevin Costner.

I love this guy more than you might know. I saw him when he was young in "Dances with Wolves," happen to see his behind, "beautiful," and then other movies he made as I was an extra still. Once he looked into my eyes like he remembered me, I just melted again and again. I shall always remember him, his tenderness, his intellect, his just being Kevin, watching him from afar with love and memories. The Field measurements of original field were too short and center field too close. Not enough seating or parking etc. 8000 people in stands of New Field. It's not down the road. Ssme driveway. More parking lots but. It is attached to original ballfield and the house propert. Which was owned by 2 neighboring farm families. The field was split down the middle. Now bought out and also surrounding v on fields bought out by corporate who own The musher larger " Field " consisting of small field, parking lots, corn maze between 2 fields', large field, house, concession stand ( originally owned & operated by the 2 families). Very complicated.
There is a reason they don't play in the place they are playing.

The entire population of Dyersville, Iowa is only 4000. That community is to be applauded for their hard word in it all happening so smoothly. A big attraction for Dyersville and a plus for Iowa ( I mean HEAVEN) HA! Kevin Costner carved his name into the small wooden bleachers while filming the movie. It's still there. I just wish Ray Liotta could have been there ( Shoeless Joe) and James Earl Brown was also missed!

I'm from Britain. We don't play baseball or have the appreciation for the game as you do. But i understand the emotion associated with this game. I love the movie and what it stands for. Moves me to tears every time I watch it. Wonderful.
It's such a fundamental part of growing up in America, you learn when you can barely walk how to throw a baseball. I read that when the movie came out in 1989 here in the states, the movie theaters did not turn the lights up once the credits rolled because grown men were sitting in their seats crying. They left the lights off longer so the men could collect themselves before leaving the theater. I have only heard that was the rule with this specific movie.

This was one of my aunt and I’s favorite movies. She passed away years ago and watching this yesterday for the first time made me cry. She would’ve loved to see this. It brought back so many memories. This is one of the coolest things ever done. Well done MLB! ♥️♥️
