I don't know anything about what is going here but this video is wholesome AF.
Ditto first time on the channel, imma sub for sure.
Came to say the same thing. Watching him so excited made me excited, and I don’t even know for what….
He is showcasing a method that provokes root growth in a branch of a pecan tree called air layering. With this you can propagate(clone) the tree relativily easily
His enthusiasm and smile is absolutely contagious
lmao me too
I think those roots started growing just from this guy's vibe 😂
Lol
This man is living his best life 💕
i hope not. he's a Christian. if he was living his best life now, it'd mean he was going to hell. for Christians, our best life is going to be after Christ comes back and makes a new heaven and a new earth and we are resurrected into eternal life in the presence of God.

I really appreciate you teaching us youngins how to be productive with what we have around us. I truly love nature

Never heard of you or air layering. You randomly popped up in recommended and your thumbnail seemed interesting enough. But within the first minute I’m hooked. Your enthusiasm is palpable. And now I’ve got a whole new treasure trove of videos filled with information to learn from. Looking forward to the journey. I’m on the precipice of my next life adventure. Just bought a reasonably large chunk of land (40 acres+-) in east Tn, 1/3 pasture the rest woodland, beautifully sloping with a phenomenal view of a mountain range. Most all of it south facing. Planning on planting a small fruit and nut tree orchard. Grew up in rural WVa moved to Georgia at age 10 and now 30+ years later heading back to the country. Been a long time coming and man am I ready. It’s not very often we get to be excited for good things in this crazy, messed up world right now. But finding you just now, well sir finding your channel kinda feels like opening a gift.
Looking forward to it. Sub me up and notify me! Cheers.
Man just pulled out every literally device he had in his backpocket.
@Rico Grande ooooooo Germany. Another location on my bucket list. Some of my ancestry comes from Germany. Every few years I get a wild hair and just have to get out and go. 2 years ago it was Scotland, which is also where some of my ancestry originates, 5 weeks by myself. I travel off season and on my own. Completely on my own, I do the research, I book the locations and the vehicles, no help from no one. When I went to Scotland my phone stopped working and I didn’t have gps. It was awesome!
Whoops. Sorry about that. Got excited when the thought of traveling popped up. Thank you for noticing my comment. I am seriously going to try this technique of air layering though. There are a bunch of old trees on the family homestead that I would love to take cuttings from. And before I watched this guy’s videos I couldn’t think of a viable way to make that happen. And he seems genuinely excited about what he’s doing and that he gets to share it with people.
Slightly off topic …… actually totally off topic, what is the general view of what is happening in the world right now? You know, with the coronavirus and Afghanistan and Biden? How is Germany viewing the USA? If you don’t mind me asking.
@Rico Grande Thank you for taking the time to respond. I think most Americans are at the point of not trusting anything we see on mass media. So if I get the opportunity to ask someone from somewhere else, then I do.
The majority of Americans are embarrassed by our current administration. We find it very hard to believe that he won the election. We are humiliated by the state in which our country has been thrust into by asinine decisions made from the moment this clown show set foot in the Oval Office. The majority of us can’t believe that the rioting and take over of major cities by thugs has been allowed to continue. And most of us are hoping that the rest of the world doesn’t pounce, what with being given the perfect chance to mow over such a weak and feeble ‘leader’ (I use that term loosely). I think everyone knew it was past time to leave the Middle East and Trump had set up as smooth a departure as one could hope to. Byedone, purposefully ignored the agreements and taunted the terrorist organization on national television then went on vacation. The fact that he removed the military in one fell swoop while leaving behind a multi billion dollar military complex and all American citizens really pisses off every single one of us. How can such a nincompoop be allowed any power? Before this he threw open the gates at the southern border, amidst a global pandemic, and created a humanitarian crisis. Honestly, we’re all just hoping that he doesn’t completely destroy everything we have and stand for before we can get him out.
Sorry for writing a novel. There’s a lot more I could get into but I think I’ve probably already said too much. Again. Thank you for corresponding with me. Best of luck to you and all your gardening/horticultural adventures. Cheers.
I haven’t seen pure enthusiasm for gardening like this since I was a kid with my mom, this really brought me back

Just found you and automatically subscribing. Man, my grandfather died about 5 years ago, and he had an orchard of pecan trees a couple states away from where I am now. Every year his christmas gift to us was his own "McMahon" pecans. My fondest memories of my grandfather were picking pecans with him. My grandmother still owns the property, but has since moved away. Now, my brother and I will be able to carry on his tradition and keep his spirit alive. Thank you so much brother. And can't wait to see more of your videos. God bless you man. You made my whole year!
With all the horrible things happening these days, it warms my heart to see you and experience your joy for gardening. You are a blessing!
Hi Mr. LeadFarmer, until now, I'd never heard of air layering, and I'm impressed! This is a simple, easy way for anyone to propagate their beloved trees! Also, your smile and enthusiasm for this is truly infectious. Consider me a big fan!
Ditto
it really is
same here!
Why can't more people be more like you lol, you really know and have mastered the true spirit of the outdoorsman, the method you tried has been used for eons to reproduce effective producing trees and it feels good knowing at least someone is passing on the knowledge to others. The method can be used for a number of fruiting trees as plants are capable of rooting anywhere along the stem as long as you protect it
Educating me alone was inspiring to try this. Retrieving a clone of my mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s giant fruit trees on her rural land is going to be an epic 50th Mother’s Day gift. Thank you for everything you just did whether inadvertently or something else, stay safe brother!✌️
no clue what i clicked on at first, but the excitement this man brings to planting is something else! this shit is so sick and now ive learned something i would have never with out him. great content
I don't know how someone would give this man a thumbs down. He makes me happy just listening to him.
K Viehmann. There always seems to be about 1 in a 100 that thumb it down...😕
They were probably watching it upside down.
Thank you Brother. This video will save me alot of money and allow me to increase my orchard greatly. Thank you Brother!!!
Thank you so much my brother. I hope and pray that it helps you and the sisters prosper. I love what you are doing on the rock.👊🏽
AMAZING I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT AFTER Living 70 YEARS I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS.

I just stumbled across this by chance and gotta say, feels like I'm watching my Uncle teach me gardening. so wholesome and cheerful.
He’s so passionate about this. I love that.
My air layer “chili dog” of my lemon tree really worked too!
It’s easy as 123 and works every time ☺️🤣😂
@@leadfarmer73 I dont quite understand why air layer? Pecan trees can do through grafting or budding. Whats the benefit to air layering?
@@mirsidorov5112serious? Grafting requires a rootstock. He's regenerating rootstock. It Jumpstarts your tree by like 3 years vs growing from seed, and there is always potential genetic variability with seeds. He's cloning that tree.
It’s amazing how fun it can be to learn something new when the person teaching you is genuinely excited and interested in the subject. You got yourself a new subscriber!

this shit is beautiful..... I own no pecan trees
We will have trees planted in no time
Ditto. I have no fkn idea wth he’s doing but it’s peaceful af.
Have no intentions of owning pecan trees ever but am now subbed.
lmfao
I have three but the squirrels eat all the pecans
if you want a new pecan tree buy or beg a few in the shell soak in water a few hrs the place in a pot on potting soil (dirt) cover pecan 2 inchs deep on it side wet weekly do not let dry out 90 days or so a tiny pink stem will grow 2-3 inches then 2 leaves appear when it get about 6 inhes tall place in 5 gal bucket full top soil--- same depth as in the pot this big bucket allowes the tap root to grow down as get it get 2-3 ft plant in soil full sun same depth this takes time so dont give up it is worth the effort
CZcams algorithm brought me here and I'm glad it did. Your enthusiasm is infectious, my friend. Keep up the positivity and good work!

Wow really wierd seeing you in this comment section . I used to own a 07 turbo Fa5 tuned by xenocron years ago. You commented on some of my videos back then on my old channel. Regardless love the videos man.
What the hell are you doing here? Used to watch your videos like 9-10 years ago lol
never thought I'd see you on a video about pecan trees.
Thats crazy. I remember being at the mayweather vs ctsv race and meeting you for the first time then being hooked on your vids and seeing you in this comment section for something completely different than what I expected. But i love to see shit like this. Shows how humble you are and how you’re interested in different things. Btw id love to win that red civic lol. Hmu tho cuz i love your content.

🌓When I tell you, this right here made me almost cry tears of joy, I love growing things and I love how the roots look on different plants and trees. I think I it’s one of the beautiful type of art of The Most High Yahuah creations. I have learned so much from you and your beautiful wife and I truly appreciate y’all. I will definitely try this once we move to Florida soon. I have a huge collection of plants and I can’t wait to have my own plant nursery when in Florida. Can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve grown. Blessings to you and your family. 🦋
Thank you so very much Kim. We really appreciate you. Amen 🙏🏽

heey Bob, love your vids :D
one of favorite youtubers, I hope you are well!
Much love, Bob! Mind if I ask what happened in your attempt?
Video is fake, you never actually see the roots coming out of the stem..
Love it! Air layered a pear tree last year about the same size as your pecan tree. Checked a few days ago and buds are sprouting leaves! Yeah!!! Enjoy your channel. We hail from south Louisiana
There might have been too much rooting hormone for a pecan tree, that can slow down how fast roots grow.
I love this video
Sorry, my friend, but I have never experienced that
I don't know how I ended up here. But this has got to be one of the most interesting and informative videos that I've watched in a very long time! Thank you so much!
CZcams is promoting black videos is how you got here , my recommended feed is loaded with videos from channels that have pictures of black people in their profile pic that I have zero interest in.
I only clicked on this perticular video as the guy looked familiar and I was wondering if I knew him from something else.
Super thorough demo on how you set that layer up. I've got a Northern Pecan I may want to try experiment with this method. Thanks!
I love seeing how psyched you are on the success with it. I'd be over the moon if I saw those roots!
Thanks for showing the older video clips. I want to be sure I can do everything properly for my air layering attempts! I love seeing all the hands on steps in great detail :D
Someone years ago tried to kill my dad's magnolia trees by removing the bark like you did. I held my breath watching you. But he saved his trees using rooting compound and wrapping them. I just never knew we could start new trees that way. Air layering... that's now a must for me! Thanks!
That dude is so absurdly happy with his achievement it's intoxicating!
Nice dude
This man has a wholesome energy to him.
I don't even know what's he's talking about, now I wanna grow trees too!
Thank you for this one Lead Farmer 73.
I have a tree that my grandad planted for me when I was born. 1973
After he died the property changed hands and now I want to go to the new owners and try and get them to let me do this to a branch that grows nuts.
If that don’t work, I’ll go to the neighbor and ask if I can do it to an overhanging branch. Then once it roots I will move it to my new property and plant it for my granddaughter
Brother, I needed your positivity in my life. That southern hospitality is something I'm missing from my close friends.
You can feel the elation of leadfarmer crafting the earth one tree at a time! Giving the land not just taking... Keep up the great work lead family.💚💚💚💚
It wasn't a pecan tree air layer but thanks to your tutoring, I did my first air layer from my pear tree. Thanks for the heads up about the leaves falling. That was a shocker for me.
😂🤣😂 they always fall off. Especially in this climate👊🏽😉
@@leadfarmer73 what climate are you in. I'm out in the desert side of CA central valley
can I do for other plants like this?
@@santosdr2 yes you can 😉
@@leadfarmer73 For trees that grow larger, and have harder wood or flaky bark when they get older, would you suggest doing this when its younger and the tree has more plyable bark and thinner branches like your tree was at? Most apple trees get harder wood and thick flaky bark here when they get older but resemble your tree when younger
I wanna be this mans friend. Seems like a truly genuine and down-to-earth guy. I love the energy.
Dude this guy's face is so lovable from the first instant. Such honest eyes its insane.

I love how happy this guy is about his trees he has been blessed 🙌
Idk why this was suggested to me because I could care less about trees, but I’m so happy I watched this video. I’ve never been more interested in trees lol. This man is a true content creator👏🏾
Thank you for this, LF .. I've been experimenting with cuttings for pecan propagation with limited success(by limited, I mean 100% failure), and air layering is the next thing to try .. good to know that it DOES work! // The reason this is so exciting is, it allows us to have a clone of a tree all the way down to the roots, no graft, and in less time than it takes to grow a seedling and graft a scion on, too. Nice job!
I don't understand half of what you said since this is my first video on this but I'm happy I know this haha
Update! One of the air layers was planted out along the hedge row, and we transplanted it to a new location just a couple of weeks ago. NO TAP ROOT - but so many adventitious roots that I think that it won't matter. The plan is to maintain this one as a bush. materials: Black plastic trash bag, 15 gallon/ Peat Moss/ Rooting hormone (Indole 3 buteric acid, same brand as lead was using. It was the best value purchase for me, too.)
I'm not even into gardening, but this video gave me so much joy just seeing how happy you are with the results! It's awesome to see how excited you are to encourage others to try it out and share all the magical tips! Idk how this video got in my recommendations, but I'm glad it did! Thank you for sharing! 😊
