    Thanks Eric, I just used this video to finish cleaning the carbs on my 1985 50hp Yamaha. They are a little different than these carbs but the basics are close enough to be relevant. I had cleaned the main jets but not the one you mention at around 6:15. Rather than compressed air I used a can of carb cleaner to clean the gunk from inside that small jet. You saved me a lot of time, trouble and money. The engine was running terrible, runs great now, so thank you so much.

    Thanks a lot for your videos! They’ve helped me tremendously…I paid the shop 350 to clean carbs, and all they did was turn the idle adjustment screw. So I took matters into my own hands and your video helped me do that. Now my Yamaha 50TLR is running like a top again!

    Thank you for posting this video! I believe I have the exact same motor. I had it running a few weeks ago then last week it just quit and wouldn't start. I was intimidated by cleaning the carbs until I saw this video. I did the job myself in probably 1~2hours. Now my motor starts and runs! Saved me lots of time and $$! Thank you again!

    Dear Eric K,
    Thank you for taking the time to post this video. Very informative and helpful.
    You have saved the wakeboarding and SCUBA component of our summer program.
    The Yamaha 50pro (P50T SRS) on our 4m RIB started hesitating and coughing, with rough idle; and stalling under loading (crap for wakeboarding). After checking spark I found the middle and bottom cyl were not getting proper fuel,. This was causing hesitation, coughing and rough idle; and stalling under load - crap for our planned 10day wakeboarding and SCUBA trip :( - I called three shops this week; however, it is high season and everyone is booked up or away. I found your video, and it provided the info and confidence to do the job myself. I pulled the carbs cleaned the jets and various ports. It took only a couple hours, including one beer :) A one beer job!
    My wife is very pleased, as you helped save us us money, and beer. Thanks to you, the kids and their host of friends are back to wake boarding for the remainder of the summer. We leave tomorrow for 10 days. Despite Mr. Jessee's recent comments on your "tutoril"; I found your tutorial excellent. Your manner is concise and informative. I find his comments unwarranted, an would encourage others to disregard. Also I like your motorbike.
    As far as naming things go using "thingamajiggy" and "doo-hickey" are fine by me, as long as you provide the requisite info in a concise and easy to follow format, with clear video - which you have done.
    Cheers,
    Mark,
    Director, Turtlehead Marine Station, British Columbia
    P.S. I could use a tutorial or/and advice on how to upgrade the carb of a 2015 Yamaha 9.9 High Thrust 4stroke, to make a 15hp.

    Thank you so much. I just acquired a pontoon boat with this very engine, and it won't start. after many videos and trials I have concluded that my jets are clogged so no gas to cylinders. I was resigned to a hefty repair charge, but thanks to you I now have the guts to foolishly dive in and try it myself. What could possibly go wrong? Will let you know how I do, but thanks for giving me a dose of courage to try it.

    Nice video.. I have the 2008 Yamaha 50 TLR and I just rebuilt the carbs. I had to drill out the brass plugs to get to the pilot screws.. I replaced them with the new ones in the kit but my manual doesn't say what the setting would be for each carb. does anyone know how many turns I should back them out for each carb? Thanks !

    Thanks for the videos. What’s your experience or knowledge with earlier yamaha 4 stroke carbs? I have a 2000 100HP that runs great and solid compression but the mechanic said the low speed jets are clogged that why it’s smoking a bit at idle. It will still runs fine. He said run the hell out of it and keep running it and it just might get better with some fresher fuel instead of the hodgepodge of startron ring free amd old gas.

  • @flooringfitter7292
    @flooringfitter7292 Před 6 lety

    Well done Eric, I found the little rubber bugs that fit over ( the smaller jet ) can fall out after time, this means it will over- fuel . As far as I can see you need one in each carb, these carbs draw air from the top minor holes and that is why the smaller jet is blanked off .My carb (no 1 top carb) appears to missing , I'm making a little rubber bung to see if I'm right ! Anybody else confirm this please.

    Good video Eric Edic. Question about the middle carb with choke body on it. How do you take the round black plastic disk, 1.25" in diameter, apart? I can hear something rattling inside. it is a small metal piece rattling around... There is a diaphragm over it. Cleaned the other 2carbs up no problem but this piece has me stumped.

    Really good video dude - going to attempt on my Yamaha 30 / 2 stroke. The motor ran great until this year I think due to bad or old ethanol fuel. Any additional recommendations assuming bad fuel is the cause? Wondering if I should also add some kind of external fuel filter to help prevent future occurrences. Thanks!

  • @nathanmayo7101
    @nathanmayo7101 Před 6 lety

    Followed his instructions and everything was as described except he failed to mention having to loosen the choke linkage nut. Main jets were plugged solid. I would never have attempted this job without having watched this vid, but all I have left to do is reattach to motor. I will also add a paper filter between squeeze bulb and motor.

    It seems since such small amounts of dirt clogs carbs up,, they’d use better filters on these motors. That goes for all brands. Not just Yamaha

    excellent DIY video Eric. Thanks. My 50 hp 2006 2 stroke Yamaha runs great while going slow, but when I open it up, it runs for about 3-4 minutes and then runs out of gas. The primer bulb is soft, you can re prime the bulb and it will run great again (for a short while). I've reploaced the primer bulb, replaced the lines and reploaced the fuel pump. no relief. Any ideas?

      @QuicoReed Před 5 lety

      Did you check the fuel filters? My buddy's boat did the same thing. Couldn't keep the primer bulbs full. Replaced them, the hoses, and found the filters had lots of grit and sand. Somehow, there was junk down in the gas tank. Be sure to replace those filters too.

      I'm just curious how dbag trolls like davey decide what the most important part of a carburator is. You don't need the float? Or venturi? The butterfly? Fuel bowl? High speed circuit? Low speed circuit? Throttle cable? High, low and idle adjustment screws? Fuel filter? Fuel line? You can't even spell tutorial right bonehead.
