Guys remember what sets the F35 apart is its EO DAS developed by the defence giant northropgrumman , its a one of a kind in the world no other western country has an "operational" DAS system onboard its fighters except America , so India can neither source it nor can it make one which is a major setback for AMCA
Are we looking for something similar in AMCA? Western countries have decided to switch to 6th generation after using F35 and seeing how these sensors provide with valuable information. But IAF hasn't used them. So i wonder what take would IAF have on AMCA
@Abhishek Saxena Abhijit Iyer Mitra gives nice analogies but they are still analogies. Indeed we have to invest heavily on R&D but that doesn't mean we can't produce world standard products. There are multiple factors involved in any product. IAF should definitely chose fewer platforms in future made in India and for that we have to start from somewhere. Luckily we are starting from 4.5 gen and it will go up and beyond only.

'Made in India' is such a platform where both domestic & foreign players can gain mutual benefit. Lockheed Martin is constantly pushing it's outdated F-21 to sell. Now HAL has multiple projects in hand, starting from UCAV to MWF, ORCA etc. Either MWF or ORCA project can be handed over to LM, if LM is not eager for it then we can bring in Russian players like Sukhoi & Mikoyan & form a joint venture, just like Brahmos. I personally prefer Russian tech bcoz Sukhoi previously showed interest in Sukhoi/HAL FGFA project & they are still eager to join if talks about the project matures. This new JV would be beneficial for both the countries and India can gain more knowledge about jet engines for indigenous production. If HAL, having all the tenders of defence projects, gain the attitude of OFB, then it would be detrimental. We need foreign manufacturers in the form of JV so as to maintain healthy competition in the market. Monopoly business is dangerous. What do you people think about it ?
