    Great information and video on testing fuel line. Food for thought. Another way you could test fuel line is placing a rubber cap on one end to ensure positive seal, and then use a hand vacuum pump/brake bleeder… If you lose vacuum than line has a hole in it somewhere.

    Just a thought but with running two carbs I would say definitely a new line with the new tank so you know old nasty stuff is nowhere in the system. Also on mine I ran a new fuel line right with the rear brake line and has done great

    With a ball inflator needle and clamps, one could do this with a bike tire pump, since the volume and pressure requirements are so low. Not ideal, but you do what ya gotta, right?

    I have an early 68 that needs a new fuel line. What is the easiest and safe way to run a new fuel line?

    • @SladesVWBeetle
      @SladesVWBeetle  Před měsícem

      @@mitchleonard honestly, of course, people are going to tell you the proper way is to put it inside the tunnel.
      The last one I ran, I ran along and under the heater channel and hooked the line onto the belly pan bolts that hold the body down.
      American cars, especially when I was in mechanic through the 80s and 90s had all of their fuel lines run along with frame rail. I may run a new one regardless on the 68 I currently have if I do in the next few weeks I might as well film it.

  • @1bobvideo

    Something off subject of this video and I'm hoping you or someone else in the comments can help. I have a 63 beetle with a 73 or 74 motor. The car is new to me and didn't run when I bought it. I got it running, but it's only running on cylinders 1 and 4. I've swapped spark plugs to see if they were an issue. No luck. Swapped wires. No luck. I replaced the cap and rotor. No luck. I checked the valves and none are stuck. What else could be causing this?
