"Let's start the round nice and smoothly"
One of us! One of us!
😂😂😂😂
There are some pretty horrible comments posted. Jealousy is a horrible condition.
I found it useful and I found you engaging - thank you Josh
Appreciate that man
Fantastic advice!! (17:07) "Go with no line, just let the brain takeover". I've felt that so many times, just never quite editorialized it with those words, that way. Thank You Josh, very much.
Glad it helped mate! Brain is smarter than we know!
Watching your swing has given me the visual cue I needed to stop coming over the top. It perfectly illustrates "let gravity start the downswing". Thanks mate, glad I found your chanel 👍🏻
Appreciate you Adam!
I thought Paul Wilson golf swing straight away! Body turn driven swing rather than just throwing hands!
Same!
Doesn’t matter how much you let gravity start the downswing if your fly face is wide open, you’ll still come over the top, number one fault I see on my lesson tee.
You are so right about short game putting and chipping it seems to be the difference between me finishing 1 over par and not going under par on a 3 handicap. Very valuable info on when to play safe as well
Appreciate your comment bro
Really don’t understand the hate on here! You’re literally giving free content and advice! Keep it up bro, loving the vids!
My guy 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Keep it up Josh! I’ve actually taken a few things from your swing and have adapted it to mine. Way more consistent and straighter with it 👊
@@dangerzone919 love it man appreciate your support!
It’s called jealousy
@@Coupsie99 hahaha
I love your videos man they help me so much with decisions and how to play tricky shots. Keep up the good work, you’re gonna go far❤
Love it mate appreciate your support
Had my first 9 holes the other day at level par so good to see you play this so easily.
I enjoyed watching with the in depth talk through on each shot. Thx, great vid!
Absolutely loved this Josh. Talking through the shots, the course management tips; everything! Just a quality, class, instructional. Would love to have a chat with you offline over a vlog idea I have, involving you?
Course mate shoot me a DM over on instagram joshoddy59 is my username
Subscribed! Great stuff Josh, really like the on course thought processes, more like this please and if you want to coach a 20 handicapper though a CZcams round I’m game! 🔥👍
Loved the video. I am no where near level par but you reinforced this is a mental game. Once you have a bad shot, for me it just piles on
Just found your channel Josh and this is a great video mate. keep up the great golf and videos
Nice job, thanks for walking us through that with you👍👊
No worries Jrod!
Subscribed. Nice video. I like hearing how you think through the round.
Incredible. Amazing to watch
Thanks man
Well done. I gained some insight to my swing flaw which I now feel I can correct.
Let’s goo good luck man
Solid round of golf overall. Appreciate the insight into your game.
The course looks great 👍
She’s getting there Dave
The drive and second shot on hole one could have been mine-nothing in the rest of the round was anything like mine-awesome golf and a great video-thanks!
Appreciate it tim glad you enjoyed it
Great content. Love to hear how you strategize through each hole.
Glad you enjoyed it man
Well played young Josh. Good course management. Good to see you back using a “normal” putter. 👌
Cheers man!
Great content... Nice job Josh... loving the thought process...
Appreciate that bro !
you make it look very simple, good video, respect
"I'm not gonna lie, probably two of the worst golf shots I've hit this year. Just dreadful stuff..." Lol
I enjoyed this video. I found your warm-up advice and your thoughts on approach and strategy very helpful.
I'm only about 20 minutes in, but what's very clear is that from a skills perspective it's not about hitting every FIR and GIR (although this helps!) but it's about honing your pitching, chipping and putting skills which really keep the round alive when you're struggling on a hole.
Great golf 💪💪💪
Thanks man appreciate the support
Great work !
Great content as always Josh👍👍
Great content. Keep it coming .
Thanks for the Lesson Josh
Got you Tony
love this! awesome player u are, may God bless u!
Good content! Most high handicappers add strokes to their game from bad decisions not bad swings. They need to hear how good players play a course.
My guy
I think bad swings have a lot to do with it too lol
Great video
Love your videos! Good narration, could use some shot tracker, I am a seven handicap trying to get better and you inspire me!! What happened to the broomstick? Taking the day off??
Yeah seemed like you were putting well with it, what’s up?!!
Good job mate. 👏👏 Drive for show, putt for dough. Your putting is solid. Pity about the double break on 9th.
much prefer this putter...great stuff!
Great vid ❤

subscribed. Great video sir.
Great vid mate.
My guy
I enjoyed this I gave you a follow
I’m cat 1 golfer 4 hcp thought I was a good player but this on just another level.
Some days maybe good some days maybe sh**
I love my LAB putter! I got the DF2.1 and will never go back! LAB4LIFE
Mate it’s soooo pure
Mezz max here for about a year. It cured my shaft reverse press setup flaw. No more adding loft at impact , etc. easy peasy now
How many hours do you put in through a week? Practice and rounds? Nice round btw!
Those are some huge grips! How do you like them? I see more and more golfers are going to oversized or jumbo grips. Great video and playing!
Personally, I am a 12 handicap at my course. So I usually shoot around the low 80s. Haven’t been playing my best golf recently and last week my poor shots were a hook. But honestly, mind set, not trying the crazy play, trying to hit the green anywhere on a chip, and eliminate 3 putts are such stroke savers.
That’s what it is all about! Grinding them rounds out when you’re not playing your best and take the chances when they come!
@@joshoddy Exactly! Rather than getting pissed. Like I still managed a bogey after trying to go for a par 5 in 2, I hit my 2nd shot ob. The next hole I hit my drive into the trees, chipped out and got up and down for par.
@@LordVerdo exactly that man all momentum! A bad shot can sometimes wake you up and push you on to make up the mistakes later in the round! And then the super low rounds come from when you get rid of the mistakes!
"level par frough free" ...love it Mate!
Haha chill with that
Lol
Nice Video. I think the biggest thing I took away was the talk about starting off the right way, which in large part is giving yourself time to actually warm up so your first swing isn't on the first tee. Just curious, how does your warmup change if there is no place to hit balls prior?
Dynamic stretch a few fast swings etc!!!
Great content thoroughly enjoyed and learn a lot from these type of videos. As a 4 handicap I’ve picked up a few things for sure.
Only annoyance is the new fad of golfers on CZcams clicking their fingers to try and get the ball to stop on the green!!
sorry mate I will stop the clicking
@@joshoddy no worries mate 😃. Keep the videos coming. Much prefer watching good golf from UK based guys than some of the yankee drivel that’s available. It’s much more relatable in terms of the course conditions, weather etc so good work!
What happeened to your Lab putter? Are they worth the hype?
I’ve got my Mezz back in
Fun video. what is the loft on your sand and lob?
Love it dude, extremely basic information here. Why do we have to over complicate everything. Great video friend! Earned a sub for sure. 🤟🤙God Bless
Thank you man! 😊
Great content thanks😂😂
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
To all the ppl making nonsensical comments :
Join a club and play with a low marker …. When they shoot 1 under par you would congratulate him or her …. Not make derogatory remarks
You will also learn that you need to work on your game .
Love your putter. What kind is it?
I'm interested in your grip. It's oversized. How does that help you with your swing and why did you decide to go with it? I'm kinda curious because I've thought about it, but I might have too small hands?
Enjoyed this! Quick question - your premium Titleist stand bag - do you find there’s more room in the club sleeves than the other bags? I get annoyed with pushing and pulling clubs around to get them all to fit nicely and have been thinking of upgrading to that bag for that reason. Thanks for your time if you reply with your thoughts!
It is definitely slightly bigger for sure!
Thank you! Keep up the good work. Now following
Absolutely brilliant 👍👍
Cheers Dave 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I’m a 3.4 index and was interested to see the difference between our games. I think it’s realising that par is a good score, and birdies will come to you if you keep hitting GIR. Short game obviously important and putting, also noticed you hit a lot of irons off tees rather than bombing driver up by the green. Is there anything else you would add to my observations? Cheers 😄
Make sure to only film the putts that go in, that way you also can pretend to be a +6 player!
Good video, I struggle with staying in the round, seem to compound errors, sometimes a bogey isn’t that bad, play off 4 and a double always kills my card
Yeh don’t let it it break you down! Keep fighting hard and you’ll bring it back!
What grips you using on irons? And size?
Hi mate what size jumbo max grips are you using ?
what kind of grips do you play? are these kind of Jumbo Grips?
Do you try and play a certain shape or shape it based on the kind of shot you are playing.
Yes sir!!!
To cover off a few of the comments regarding handicap.
The handicap system and the courses have been re rated in recents years. Handicaps are 2, maybe 3 shots lower than they would be before the changes around 5 years ago, especially against CONGU. +6 is more like +3/+4 which is borderline to try being a touring pro
Clearly a very very good player regardless and great content.
wow I'd love to play that course at present so nice easy to play conditions ..my local links in present winter conditions is a beast ultra-fast greens gazed up in places(many 2-3 tier huge movement greens + sicko greens keeper putting flag in some nasty spots) rough mostly tight lies to bony sand pockets right beside fairways or just beside greens ..overall course plays very long in dense cold air ...6-8deg low cloud .....brrrrrrrr
“Bit of a flyer” I can relate to that 😂
Is it hit the ball straight and long?
Yes the short game needs to be clicking to shoot great scores, because we are always going to have some errant long shots whether we like it or not. If we have not errant long shots, then we absolutely must go pro!!!
FACTS!!!
Get you a special someone that talks to you like this guy talks to his putter. Great video. You have earned yourself a new subscriber!
Thanks man
Did you delete negative comments? I saw some saying there were some. Why would there be? This is great stuff. Shows the mindset and approach to get into the red. Keep up the great work
@@mpp9964 thanks man maybe CZcams deleted them I did not thanks for your support mate
Made it look easy Josh tidy short game
thanks man
What grips are you using?
I am a 3 handicap and I’ve always been pretty steady around that for years. About six months ago, my driver started to misbehave and I lost all confidence and put in a good role together because I didn’t know where the ball was going to end up in the trees are out of balance. I tried everything, range work, lessons, CZcams videos, nothing worked at all. I was pretty much ready to give up the game. Back to the current day, and fixed. Thank you! Taylormade BRNR mini driver! Previous Arccos stats for fairways hit with my old cobra king F9 46% now 74%. so if anyone is having difficulty of the tea, I would massively recommend grabbing one of these as soon as possible
After 2:50 into this video , I knew it was going to be good.
You like rock n roll?
What grips are they? I use jumbo golf pride with 4 layers of tape and they look fatter which im after, i dont fancy too much tape as they get squishy
JUMBOMAX ULTRALITE is the way for you mate! 100%
@@joshoddy £240 for a full set! Holy crap. Jumbo golf pride and layers of tape it is then 😆
good
My guy
What are the grips you have ? Looks bigger
Tip for stopping glasses from slipping down your nose is getting a couple of hair ties and repeatedly looping them over each of the temples so that they give friction and don't fall down. been doing it for years.
Wow that’s a class idea!!!
How do you like the oversized grips? I’ve seen a lot of players move to them and I’ve thought about swapping my grips out and trying.
Love them
You say the Mezz is back in the bag. I have had my Mezz for about a month now and from my own experience I can’t understand why anyone would take it out of the bag. Just curious to know if you were fitted for it, and what caused you to stop using it?
I got a broomstick hahaha
My problem is my first hole is that far left or right is probably double. Club down off the tee, and likely bogey.
grips?
He hasn't hit a fairway in the first 8 holes, and is still -1. I needed to see that, especially the gap wedge punch on hole 6. There is hope!
Well played mate. A good golfer can always save par 4 on bad shots.
Thanks man haha
What happens when the driver goes arwy and can't find it. Woods just as bad too. Just hit it short and try to play for par or bogey on longer holes?
I think it’s the element of knowing when and where! Pull driver when it is necessary to do so!
"let the brain take over" YES! Our brains are damn super computers, understand physics better than our conscious minds ever will. Zone out and _zone in._ Hasn't failed me yet.
100% man completely agree!!!
You can take your glasses to your optician and they can use heat to bend the temple tips so they fit snugly behind your ear and won't slip off.
Love that!
I'd love to have a sniff at that pin had me laughing SOOO hard 😂😂 have a sniff eh lol
That tip on getting the body moving before hitting the first tee shot ?
Yes it helps
@@joshoddy Yes it certainly seemed to !
This is really random...I played in college almost two decades ago and decided to start playing again. I see you're wearing "spikeless" golf shoes. Can you tell me your thoughts on those compared to traditional shoes?
These are spikes much prefer them on the course
@@joshoddy Thanks!
I played yesterday and have to say I hope it comes back at some point. It's incredibly frustrating to have a shot that used to be easy and now I shank it! :)
A lot of course don't allow spikes anymore :(
We play similar golf, up until about the 3rd shot 😂
What putter is that you're using
LAB GOLF
Putting. Putting putting putting. Thats how you score like that
3rd warmup done ok time to hit balls... Wait! youtube watchers might think I'm lazy, I'll do 1 more: 4. back + rotations
"buy yourself a broomstick....."
whats happened to it bud?
Great insight this. You seem a very natural player on the vlogs but this shows your thinking constantly.
I did think the bins were gonna have a camera in them though.
Hahaha she’s hibernating at the moment! It’s just whatever feels comfortable, I’ll probably switch between all 3 😅
I think +6 is the name of the editing program used here. Can strike the ball this fella
Josh. With a 10.5 deg driver I could clear the front left tree and fade it into the fairway. You could too. If I couldn't I'd get the 3 or 5 wood. Just an idea. Great video.
Cheers man 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Josh get some contacts. Totally get playing with glasses can be tough but sight is key
A +6 would mathematically be in the top 30 players on the PGA Tour
I wish
Not really as he’s a +6 on roughly a 6000-6500 yard course , whereas PGA tour players play on 7000-7500 yard courses.
This guy wouldn’t be anywhere near a +6 on a PGA tour length course.
Nope, not true.
@@chrisb.4496 Prove me wrong
I think the handicap system accounts for the tees played so a +6 would still be a +6 no matter what tees he usually plays from
All the people on here that have no idea about golf … and thinking a plus handicap always shots under par , the only person to do that over a consistent amount of time was the world number 1 for perspective for like 41 rounds or something .. soo anyone thinking a plus 6 always shots under par or like 8-9 under has no idea of golf or has never played near to that level .. its soo bloody hard
If your a plus 6 handicap you should be consistently around 6 under should you not, if your 6 shots better than scratch amd scratch is par then yeah 9 times out of 10 you should be under par as a plus 6
