Giving my newly acquired Voidstrike Force Staff a go while trying to not to die until the timely arrival of three Zealots whose unwavering fealty to The Emperor is strong.

What does the staff do for psykers?

The Force Staff are a class of weapons unique to the Psykers, allowing different variants of Warp/psionic based attacks as follows;
Trauma Force Staff projects an explosion in a small area in front of you.
Surge Force Staff channels your inner Palpatine and projects warp lightning that chains your foes.
Voidstrike Force Staff as shown in this recording, projects a explosive sphere that splatters enemies.
Purgatus Force Staff allows you to incinerate the heretics with Warp fire that cannot be put out.

The Voidstrike due to the ease of use, utility and high damage though I use the Surge for giggles, screaming "witness your doom" while playing with my siblings (and annoying them at the same time) when unleashing the warp lightning.
