- approx 1km fibre drop I ran through rough terrain in Bc, Canada. climbed poles hunted cougars and almost died! not really... but hope you enjoy, sorry for any cuts in footage. Weather and time were factors as well as Gopro batteries that die often. Enjoy :)

I got scared too when that dog popped out 🤣🤣🤣
😂
Man Im dreading when i have to do 2 spans for 1 job in the UK, now I won't complain anymore haha . Awesome job man keep it up
I’d say 60% of my drops are sub 3 spans. But that 40% that isn’t can be fun 😅
@@FyBurz how far would you run that corning flat stuff? Would you trust it for use as a main distribution line in a rural area?
@@deepspacecow2644 well this is just short of 1km, I’ve spliced together 3km worth of flat drop. And you can get 12F Flat drop so I’m sure it would work fine for rural distribution 😅
How great that remote customer has fiber optic service courtesy of your incredibly hard work out in the wild, in the middle of winter too! Great job.
Yeah it’s pretty wild out here in BC. Where there’s a will there’s a way! 😅 customer was very excited going from 3mbps down to 1gbps
I have 0 experience as a fiber cable technician, but your videos have been very helpful, I should start the journey of my career very shortly after all the hiring paperwork, thanks for the content 💯
No problem man! I’ll be posting more soon. Let me know if there’s anything specific you’re interested in!
@@FyBurz will do!
Nice job man, walking that distance in all that snow couldn't have been easy.
You got that right!
My old area was in the mountains of Pennsylvania. We had some rough spots like these. I used my 4 wheeler a lot of the times. Good work guy.
Thanks brother 👊🏼
The dog part got me!! great video!!
Haha 😅 thanks !🙏🏼
I thought quebec was bad when hanging a drop This is a whole new level! Keep up the good work!
This is one of the tougher ones I’ve done. The terrain in my area calls for fun time. Thanks for watching!
Youve got balls of steel and apparently a carbon fiber heart. Good work! Stay safe out there. Love the content.
Thank you man! Much appreciated!
Good work! Thanks for sharing
Real McCoy! Salute. ❤❤❤
Thank you!
That dog was like dang dude you scared me too lol 😂
Definitely 😂
thats some hard work right there
It was a challenge for sure 😅
You must have made some serious money on that job!
definitely worth the effort!
I got exhausted just watching those pole climbs! I guess you have no need for gym visits? Great videos so keep up with the good work! Does the customer pay extra for a 1km drop or is that supplied by the ISP?
Thanks man.
Yea this was genuinely very physically challenging I wasn’t at my fittest there either 😅
I workout everyday now. Minimum 100 pushups a day 💪🏼 the video doesn’t really do the drop justice. This holds the spot for toughest drop ever. Took me 3 days by myself
Holy hell, Telus will send fibre anywhere. I couldn't even get it slightly outside a city of 160k until last year.
It’s pretty amazing where there’s fibre here in BC
Bro im exhausted after doing a 3 pole drop let along 10+ i would of 100% had a heart attack.
I was pretty close 😂
Seriously impressive work. No idea at all how I came upon this video, but watched it entirely. Curious, which is worse, doing this in the cold and snow or heat of summer? I would think in the summer you'd be swatting mosquitoes and that would be a real drag while climbing a pole. But what do I know?
Haha, well thanks for watching! I hope it earned a sub 😅
And you got it right… tbh this job would of probably been a bit easier to hike in the summer but even that’s a gamble because of all the branches, brush and terrain. Plus bugs and animals would be a nightmare 😩
And the heat adds a whole new level of difficulty for sure.
Ill never complain about my 400 feet drop ever again
Yeah haha this was one for the books for sure.
Curious how much it cost that Customer to get a Fiber drop that far. I’ve seen $10,000+ for a few hundred feet extension. Crazy how much work goes into a single connection
nothing, The provider paid for it.
Whatever they are paying you, it's not enough...
why do you guys not use j hooks instead mid span clamps? just curious good work though
Where would you use a j hook over a span clamp? Although these are “self support” drops they need to run along the existing strands.
@@FyBurzwe run our drops right below the existing strand like maybe 6 inches and use j hooks and the same p clamps you’re using to sag them. This is US though so probably different specs, but that way if the main fiber gets tore down the line crew can lash a new piece up and the drops are not in the way of it.
@@kennypowers1206 yeah that seems super odd to me the strand is there for a reason, and the way a hang drops doesn’t trap the mainline. In some odd cases it might but there’s usually a workaround and I’m always actively trying to avoid trapping the strand
Why was the main and NTP not brought to the last pole
Just one customer on that road.🤷🏻♂️
Imagine doing this on a summer on a tropical country..
no thanks. haha
Just curious if you ran a 1F drop or multi? Man that's a long way to go with just 1 fiber.
Just one 😅
He got -18 db light so he’s rocking
Are you independent have your own business and the people contact you or do you work for a company?
Both, I Sub for a telecom company as well as do independent work.
Olá beleza? Qual cidade /estado você grava seus vlogs? Abraço do Brasil 😁
I’m in BC Canada. Thanks for watching amigo!
damn dude rhat made me tired
Haha you don’t even know, this was 3 days of footage cut down. I had to hike up and down this 4 times in one day 😅
Like to join you working
Why not mount the splice on a pole?
Not allowed.
@@FyBurz that sucks 😬
@@Zeamus634 it does. But it pays more😅
i wonder who's paying for this kind of service, because a simple internet plan would take years just to recover the costs.
Yeah they have a really high cost of acquisition sometimes.
