Bringing you guys along for a day at work drilling under roads for fiberoptic internet. #directionaldrilling #utilities #fiberopticcable #vermeer #goodtimes
Hey bro hopefully you got time to reply to this. I start next week for a local company doing what you do. You got any tips and tricks for us that are just starting off? Thanks.
Question: Do you guys stay parallel with the ground for long distances and even if theres a big difference in elevation from point A to B. Lets say you need to maintain a 6 foot depth.
It’s just a pipe they take a air compressor and a dart and that’s attached to a string then they blow it through to the other end then they tie the fiber to the mule tape aka string and then pull the fiber line threw.
We are only at one spot for about a hour and then on to the next and Legally we can’t open the road it’s a special permit that’s hard to get for that kind of work and when we’re working with the drill traffic can still go bye without a issue
@@OscarStanley-dz2jo up here you can’t go any deeper or your in solid granit you can watch your pin on your hammer disappear while you’re trying to break it and it just goes to powder it dosent break nasty stuff also it’s out in the middle of no ware if you seen another company is just running it through converts and hanging it in the fence along the road…
Great video

Just listen it’s pretty repetitive work so once you get your rhythm your good to go!
Very interesting. Do you always have to start at a low point, or can you drill for example downhill from a high elevation with no problem too?
You can drill from a high point too no problem a lot depends on how much room you have to set up and what ground your running in too.

We usually stay around 1.5 meters so around 5 foot and ya we will steer and go with the grade of the ground to maintain the 1.5 meters
Is the orange line hollow or is the fiber already in it? If hollow how is the fiber threaded?

Your crew should've had the pipe ready to go with sock and swivel ready, while yall were drilling.
Would it not be faster to just cut the asphalt and dig a trench? I have no experience in this kind of job, I’m just curious
